    I wholeheartedly agree with you, Tariq doesn’t seem to fully understand his own world view because now on this episode he’s backing off some of the things he said in the previous episode. Also I didn’t understand his point exactly regarding the comment Sarah brought (not sure if it was from tiktok about someone asking their parents what happened) to say that it’s not a fair question is so nonsensical to me. Ok let’s say leave the government out of it, just the regular day to day Sudanese people had a hard time referring to us as Sudanese they always made it a point to calls us “Junubean” (Southerners) so to come here and say “it’s not the parents”
    Sarah made a really good point asking him what is a good enough reason to split? I don’t get how suddenly now “its not for you to say” the same way you can say it’s not a good enough reason is the same way you should also exercise that freedom of speech and give your opinion. You all shouldn’t have let him get away with that, I’m a huge fan been since day dot with the OG LOS, hopefully my comment is not misconstrued with hate.
    Love from down under ❤

      Again…like I’ve stated
      I don’t speak about the people, I criticize government only
      And I think that’s the issue with people having so much emotion towards the topic…… people aren’t a monolith and can’t be defined as one, but government can
      So I speak only about government and what needs to change
      “What’s a good reason to split”
      I said on this video representation….i said religion wasn’t a good enough reason to split, but a lack of representation is.
      My point is, the split already happened, what’s there to discuss about an objective fact…. The argument should be what is the path forward
      We tend to love talking about the past and what could’ve/should’ve been done….i want the focus on the present and the future, the past should only be there to act as a reference point

    Sarah and Christine, your last analysis about diaspora going back home is spotted on. Those who are in diaspora will be the one to develop the country. They have advantages more than those back home. Sarah please teach that young boy so call Tariq. When U.S.A got independent from British in 1776 they did go back to civil war. It doesn't stop U.S.A from moving ahead to be the greatest country in the world. People of South Sudan are wise enough. They will figure it out definitely.

    • @arnabiarnab3037

      The difference between the countries was that the US had a foundation and constiution that clearly defined what the country stands for. We don't have that in South Sudan, and we can't just hope and pray that we will figure it out eventully. Part of figuring it out is having uncomfortable conversation and discourse to bring about new ideas. You can disagree with my ideas but i'm a grown man who backs all of my ideas/arguments with facts.

    Lol, thank you, Sarah, and the rest of the hosts for elucidating the matter to him and holding him accountable for what he said on the previous episode. First, I'm a she. Since the guy with the dreads wanted to compare the American experience to the South Sudanese one, he would be the South Sudanese equivalent of the house negro.
    Moreover, you kept using stoicism as an excuse for not addressing some of the atrocious things our people experienced. You downplayed the genocide, oppression, racism, and religious discrimination. We can't move forward to a better future and become trading partners unless the pain is truly addressed. If Sudan and South Sudan want to reunite, we need to be truly honest and have restorative justice. Also, the government is supported by the majority; as long as you remain silent, you are complicit. They revolted and overthrew their government when it came to their oppression. Why were they silent when it came to ours if we are "one people"?
    Also, you can critique the South Sudanese government; we are not in disagreement about that. The South Sudanese government is wayward and corrupt. However, the conversation was about Sudan and South Sudan.

    • @raeraesocraycray7702
      @raeraesocraycray7702 2 месяца назад

      It's ironic that he hates the South Sudanese government so much when he is just like them. Our government is literally full of arab worshippers who are letting arabs and terrorist to use our country.

    • @arnabiarnab3037
      @arnabiarnab3037 2 месяца назад

      Except it wasn’t, because I’ve made it clear I don’t speak on people but government. If other people argue people then that’s on them, my critique is of the government
      Objective facts don't need to be argued, i clearly stated that North Sudan killed 3-5 million South Sudanese, that doesn't negate the fact that 500K-1 million south sudanese were killed in violance, and as of 2021 60% of the population faces food scarcity.
      A more peaceful, just, and prosperous future for South Sudan can only happen if perpetrators of mass atrocities are held accountable, victims' demands for justice are met, and future atrocities are prevented.
      This notion that you can put everyone in a box and say they’re this or that is a flawed argument…. We’re not a monolith, we’re individuals
      Also, in regards to stoicism, it’s a personal belief, no country can be stoic. I bring it up only on how to argue and debate ideas, if your argument is fueled by emotion then you will never accept an idea that goes against your emotion.
      In the words of Marcus Aurelius
      “If someone can prove me wrong and show me my mistake in any thought or action, I shall gladly change. I seek the truth, which never harmed anyone: the harm is to persist in one's own self-deception and ignorance.”
      Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

      I’m passionate about my way of thinking and I speak on it with conviction… the not arguing from a place of emotion is not allowing personal events impact your way of thinking and thinking logically instead of emotionally

    Tyreek can’t be president he like he said he can’t only speak for him self he wouldn’t be able to speak for the people. For the record the Sudanese people should have fought harder to overthrow the tyrannical albashir govt because it wasn’t that the south Sudanese people wanted to split so bad it was an ultimatum given to the albashir govt even president Museveni of Uganda talks about this in one of his recent speeches the ultimatum was that either the south Sudanese get treated fairly and have a voice or we seperate the man chose to seperate from us we had no choice but to choose our people and separate. I do agree with tyreek that we should always claim Sudan as well as that is our Nubian/kushite ancestral regional belongings BCE our birth right as Sudanese people. I encourage diaspora to group together and invest because our group economics is what will free us and give use leverage to control our future. Love to yall continue I watch every episode, wish it was more episodes a week. We should have voting polls. Can we can’t talk. People being embarrassed to claim their own people in the diaspora it’s like a viral thing here in the west to ask a Sudanese person where there from and they say I’m Kenyan or Ugandan as if that is their heritage. It extremely degrading to them and their people.

I can see both sides here, where your guy’s point makes a lot of sense and agree with it, but tarique does make some valid points and I think he just sees things from a different angle, he’s not entirely on the wrong too, but the points can come across insensitive and lacking empathy for the struggle of the war and it’s affect on individuals as why things turned out the way they did and why were here today. Stoicism is not a political movement, it can never be a philosophy of a country, it's an individual mindset and a philospohical path on how to handle hardship/debates/arguments/etc. Its more about a general internal ATTITUDE towards things and less about the actual content of opinions.
    Stoicism don' bear much fruit in terms of real politics, because it leans too much into idealism and as such its unable to posture itself in the forefront of a wider societal governance and the pragmatism it requires.
    I am aware I come off as not empethetic and callous towards events, and see them from an impartial viewpoint.
    Now, if everyone practiced it, then it will game changing, but thats imposible, we're all individuals and not a monolith, as such government should be created to represent everyone and not just one person

A man made border don't automatically change your identity, and i can gurantee you have family that live in North Sudan that you don't look down on them, and they don't look down on you.
      My argument have always been about government not people.
      Objective facts can't be argued, North Suda commited genocide 5+ million people, that doesn't negate the argument that after the split we were commiting genocide amongst ourselves as well. 1 million people have persihed and 4 million have been displaced, and to try to sweep it up under a rug and excuse it as "Well they did it as well" or "Were a young country" is disengious. Before i can critique another house cleanliness, i have to make sure my house is clean
