I'm a huge fan of the boulder feature. It captures the scene well while also being compact enough for the set.
That Golden build that was a bit mysterious to you is never addressed in the film but can be seen in the background during the scene where Indy sneaks past the pressure dart trap and attempts to steal the golden idol! It’s a great detail from the designers that makes the build that much more accurate to the actual film set 👏👏
The next Indiana Jones diorama should be the Grail trials... I think that would be a perfect diorama. Each trial can be represented in the diorama, with the grail room at the end! They could even throw in Henry Jones, Marcus, and Sallah waiting for Indy to return with the holy grail
Also potential fun interactions this diorama could have:
1- the axes from the first trial being movable
2- the floor with the letters can fall if you press the wrong ones, though I dont think Lego would allow the name of God to be spelled out, so in the set's case, the correct spelling could be "Lego" or something...
3. The "invisible" bridge could extend to reveal a clear platform with sand printing on it to represent Indy throwing sand on it
4. In the grail room, Donovan (the bad guy) could be placed against a wall, where you turn a wheel and the wall would rotate, revealing a skeleton, representing Donovan's demise... perhaps a bit gruesome, but would be cool imo
Granted, this would be a very large diorama, so it's probably unrealistic to expect this much in a single set, but there's so much you can do with that scene
@@bluegoose7832 Great idea! I would personally love the rope bridge from the Temple of Doom, maybe one that retracts on both sides similar to how Indy cut it?

I still can't believe this theme is coming back, it's a dream come true! Most excited for this set now. I'm quite surprised that for all of it's moving features there's no poison darts or swinging spear booby traps... although that shouldn't be very hard to mod into the set! Great review.

The first version of this set (7623 LEGO Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark Temple Escape) DID have the spear trap and blow darts.
But it looks like it's going for close to $900 today!

Imagine a Jurassic Park Diorama with the T-rex chasing the jeep. It could have Ian's quote Must Go Faster. The jeep could have a function that moves it back and forth.
I have (technically had, some of the pieces have been deteriorated and broken) the original 2008 version of this. The updates on this set just make it really worth it, even with the stickers
Man we need a mines of Moria set like this. The front section being the doors collapsing, the middle being the tomb with the cave troll, and the final being the bridge with the balrog
I like that they’re using more teal pieces. Also the idol room looks fantastic! I love the way they designed it.
This is soooo cool! I am shocked LEGO hasn't released the official info on this and I am just finding it out through RUclips but HECK I am excited for this and ANY OTHER sets they release for Indy. My all-time fav sets growing up were the Johnny Thunder series and I really hope this inspires LEGO to think about bringing him back in a few years! SO COOL!
I think I know why the name plate is a sticker and not printed.
The way LEGO prints pieces is using tampo printing (pad printing). You can’t do gradient colours with this method like is used in the Raiders text. The transition from red to yellow to white is technically impossible using the pad printing technique. None of the other printed plates have colour gradients so printing is perfect. I’m sure LEGO would have preferred to use printing but that would have either meant hard steps in colours (no gradient transition) or one solid colour. Neither would have worked.
They could of course have done the text plate as printed but maybe they decided a sticker next to a print might look silly so they went for two stickers so they matched.
Sounds like screen printing. You need a separate screen for every color. Each screen adds to the cost.
Yea people forget about stuff like that, not mentioning we literally got 12 exclusive printed parts in the set and the golden idol, whose old counterpart is anywhere between 20$ and 50$ on its own, like thats not enough.

Very cool set. Captures the opening of raiders in such detail.
I've got the first version of this (7623 LEGO Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark Temple Escape) and I'm thinking both have their strengths. I like the technics builds used in this one and the golden statue mechanism is WAAAAAAAY better than the first one, but I think I like the longer entrance chamber from the first one as well as the inclusion of Jock and his OB-CPO biplane (along with Jock's pet snake Reggie under Indy's seat) used to escape the Hovitos.
As far as minifigs, the new set gets a thumbs up for including a Hovitos warrior with Belloq, but I kinda wish they would have included two of them, but that's a definite improvement over the first set where they kinda counted 3 skeletons as part of the minifig roster.
All in all, I'm thinking that this is a set that will be added to my LEGO collection!
I was 5 when the first Indiana Jones sets came out and they were some of the first Lego sets I ever got. Now I’m almost 20 and I’m definitely gonna be buying all three of the new sets
This diorama looks great, the scenery looks random which is realistic.
The functions are amazing, there should be more prints
I made a mistake, the 2x3 tiles and the skulls on the knobs are printed tiles, but there should be more than that!

It is a shame we don't get Jock and his bi plane but that is the only mild complaint I have the rest of this set is just stunning.
Not a set I was looking to get but all the moving functions are awesome and I like the price more than all the $200+ adult sets!

i am lowkey considering buying this set it is very well done. I never got the 2008 one so it tempts me even more to get it. i haven't fully seen all of the indy movies but plan to watch them all 100% at some point but even if i am not a indiana jones fanatic, i had some of the 2008 sets and the lost ark opening is one of the most iconic openings. it was even recreated in an episode of the simpsons lol

I have to say the movies were brilliant my favorite was the second one. This set is a must buy on day one but sadly I probably won't be able to get one. It's gonna be like the Lego Star wars battle pack.

Because of the licensee, I think so. However the lack of printed quote/logo tiles is disturbing - those types of things typically drive up value in big way.
Big fan of this set however, there's no arrow shooter part and the boulder part is very small and packed in....plus no plane :(

Fair play Bricksie. I was wondering if you’d call out the stickers on the quote and logo title. A great set no doubt, but these stickers (I can accept the rest) just aren’t acceptable on a set like this which is clearly aimed at adult collectors. They can obviously do it as per the equivalent Star Wars and Jurassic park sets, so this is a massive massive miss for me. Aside from that… very good.

As this will be my first large scale, reasonably priced set- not having a sticker element for the plaque is a big let down, all of the other themes and sets have that prestigious plaque and to learn that it’s stickers? Pretty lame. Still looks amazing like don’t get me wrong I’m going to enjoy this but dang!

gotta be honest i was thinking about getting the Rivendell Set since im a Fan and the set is awesome but the price just.. i can't, not at the moment and this set is just much more affordable still leaving me with much of my income to spend on other nice things while i would go temporarily broke if i got Rivendell... Just so sad, they really should've made a more affordable lotr set.

For sure. In this case I just don't understand why the Raiders of the Lost Arch and quote tiles aren't print like all of the other dioramas - it's what gives the sets more value.
