No, skiing was harder with the whole straight skis, then it got easier thanks to all the tech the skiing industry stole from the snowboard industry. Skiing gets easier with every new thing added. Now just about anyone can throw on a set of shaped skis and know most of the beginner stuff. All that "technique" bs is just old straight ski shit from the dorks that turn from the hips like in the 80s. Now it's basically like how a hockey check works with a bit of basic edge control.
I'm a skier and I don't think I've ever cut off someone cause I'm not dumb and I look where I'm going. This one time I was actually cut off by another skier like HARD and then you know what he fucking did? He fucking blamed it on me like what an asshole. Anyways, it's not that skiers cut off snowboarders or that snowboarders cut off skiers, it's either people who just wanna be assholes or people who can't seem to look at where they're going, it's the same on the road really.
It's still easy and only gets easier with every technology being stolen from the snowboard industry. Lol if you think it's hard now, youd be screwed on straight skis. Lol

You actually made a lot of progress for a first timer. Popping a Ollie, riding a rail and hitting a jump are all things that very few first timers can accomplish.
I have skied for good 13 years now, im comfortable doing big jumps, butters and 180s but anything that involves sliding over something thats not snow still scares me a shit ton. I gotta step up my game man...

The most memorable run of my trip to Big White a couple years ago is taking my brother down the bottom half of Camel's Back from the top of Bullet. This was the first time at the resort, and being the quality brother I am I wanted to take him down his first double. Big mistake. It was the end of the day, super foggy, and I had no idea there was a bloody lake down there D:< Longest hike of my life in thigh high pow until we made it to the cliff chair, 5 minutes before it shut down. Live and learn lol.
