- The famous historical romance book series from Julia Quinn has been adapted for a Netflix series called Bridgerton. While I struggled a lot with getting through the book series, I thoroughly enjoyed the Netflix show. Keep watching to see my reactions and thoughts on the 8 episodes. #bridgerton #bridgertononnetflix

It seems like they are giving each book a season of the show. It makes sense that we haven't met Kate because she moves to London at the beginning of the social season the year after Daphne and Simon fall in love. The bee on the windowsill definitely foreshadows Anthony's story being next.
I really liked Lady Danbury. I think they combined a few characters to make her, and she was great.
Spoiler:
I was sad they revealed Lady Whistledown this early. I wish they had left the mystery a little bit longer.
AHHHH IT WOULD BE SO AMAZING IF THEY DID DO A SEASON PER BOOK?!!!
@@remarkablylisa the show runner said he's especially excited for Collin's and Eloise's books. Those were two of my favorites, so I'm really hopeful they get to happen!
@@angelawesneski5029 OMG yes!!!!!!!
I agree 100% with the spoiler. They should have waited.
I guess they don’t trust book readers.
I’m sorry Marina was not the villain. She was not standing in the way of Penelope’s romance.
I agree, I didn't think she was a villain (no malicious intent) I think she was more shoved into a corner with her child and didn't know what to do... More of an antagonist to Penelope and Colin (but their romance wasn't going anywhere in the first season anyway).
This is from a non-book-reader so I don't know if it was handled differently :)
exactly she was not the villain at all she was in a very difficult situation and had to make difficult choices. She is one of the most compelling characters of the entire series
I didn't think Marina was a villain. In fact I was a bit uncomfortable with Penelope because Pen is a nice person in the books. The books make sure she is nice and Lady Whistledown is never meant to be malicious in her "reporting". So the way they handled the "outing" of Marina was really uncomfortable for me because it could have been done another way. I think Marina's story was suppose to show us that those times were not all beautiful gowns and ball rooms but that some young women found themselves in bad situations and their "mama's or gaurdians" gave them limited options which were not so pleasant. In fact I found myself deeply attached to Marina's story and wanting her to have some sort of happy resolution because romance books always have a "happy ending". But I guess one has to attempt to separate what I would expect from the books and the series, and the new character archs the series has.
Agree 1000%. Penelope is sweet and smart in the books. Instead she came across as petty, immature, jealous, and frankly evil with what she did to Marina. Unforgivable.
Anthony is awful in the netflix series, but I want to see how they’ll handle his romance. I loooooove Kate and I hope they do her justice 🤞🏼
I know i love Kate so much so I hope the next season I'm going to love it just as much if not more!!!
As someone who hasn’t read the books, I looooooved the show, binged over two nights. It was so sexy! And not feeling guilty at all that I was attracted to Anthony (again, I haven’t read the books and don’t know him) - but then I always enjoy all shades of grey in a character, as long as I see personal growth, and I did see his struggle and personal growth. However, let’s talk about the sexual chemistry of Simon🔥🔥🔥. When he rasped his deep voice as he told Daphne how to touch herself. Their sex scenes. We haven’t seen anything so sexual in a long time, and I loved it - hope to see more.
OH YESSSSSS THOSE STEAMY BITS WERE SO HOT AND STEAMY
😳👀👀👀🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈😍 loved it!!!!
omg i hated Anthony too!! but more so because he was so over protective to Daphne to the point where i was uncomfortable
OMG YES I HATED HOW OVER PROTECTIVE HE WAS. he was also a hypocrite because he was a rake and he told Daphne everyone wasn't worthy of her
I just finished binging the series and I really enjoyed it 😍 I think I liked the first Netflix season more than I liked the first bridgerton book. I agree with all the points you mentioned although I did still really like Anthony even if he was a bit of a jerk lol. I was really hoping Kate would make a cameo too but with the way the series ended with Anthony's announcement to Daphne and Simon, it has me even more excited for the next season, and also to see more of Penelope and Colin whom I lovedd😍❤
I am so freaking excited for Anthony and Kate to FINALLY meet and be together. But the second season probably won't happen any time soon.
I really enjoyed this show. Simon and Daphne's story was really done (Both actors did a great job). I'm definitely in for a season 2 if the quality continues.
Agreed!!!
I binge watched all of these yesterday....
So good
Me too. Was pretty yummy:)
@@jadehuell6150 agreed!
I loved it. The romance, the steam level, the costumes, hair styles and the bright colours. Also wonderful escapism for this time of year.
Agreed!!! I have a huge Bridgerton hangover
i didn’t really like anthony at ALL! and I actually kind of felt for marina thompson but I TOTALLY see why she is considered the villain!
HAHAH YES!!!
And she will kind of continue being the villain , unless I’m wrong and she did not married Sir Phillip Crane. I’m not happy about the pregnancy tbh, I think it will kind of change the dinamics, hope I’m wrong
I loved the music, it made it fresh and feel current. It was an interesting twist. 💕
I didn’t hate Anthony. He annoyed the crap out of me in the first couple of episodes. But, I think we will see more into his head in season 2. Fingers crossed.
I HOPE SO TOO!!!!
I laughed when I realised they were doing "Bad Guy" in the dance in episode 2.
LMAO I didn't even notice that one omg
I am on ep 2 and I really could not get over the music. It is like Reign, every time a song like "Next" it brings me right out of the moment
agreed!!!!
Every characters is special and important,
I watch all the episodes yesterday it was so good 💖
Agreed and same!!! Binge watched the whole thing
I enjoyed the show but Anthony and Siena's story had too much focus when she wasn't mentioned much in the books, and I wish they showed Francesca more, she only appeared in two episodes. I also wish Penelope wasn't forced to reveal Marina's secret also, she's not the malicious type. But Lady Danbury was as much an icon as she is in the books and I loved the costume sets and designs, everything was beautiful!
Didn't like Anthony, but I am not a fan of him in the books either. Violet for me didn't seem to have control of the family as much as she does in the books. I still love Eloise.
Yessss so excited to share thoughts!
YASS
I love your honest review, Lisa!💞it's on point and I agree there are some plot holes in the storyline. Season 1 adaptation of Duke and I was dramatic and entertaining at the same time, I ended up enjoying it. It's wasn't perfect by all means and I didn't like some portrayals of certain characters, namely Siena and Marina. 🤦♀️
PS: The instrumental tracks are:
Thank you next by Ariana Grande
Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift, tbh I didn't mind hearing those I think it adds a different flavor and flair to modern viewers even though the Bridgerton series was set up during1800's. ☺ still, it was just my opinion.
I’m hoping that they keep a diverse cast going forward and hope that Kate is a minority as well
I didnt mind marina or anthony. They were behaving as one would for it's time and circumstance. Marina did what she had to do for herself and her child. Penelope's romance wasnt going anywhere and as we saw colin was not interested. So regardless of what marina had done colin wouldnt have gotten with penelope.
But that twist at the end. Daaaaaamn.
I haven’t read the books but I binged the show in 2 days😂 omg i couldn’t stand Anthony!! I’m so excited for season 2, and I hope they’re able to redeem him a little bit and that he has a good love story☺️ I also thought the orchestra pop songs were a little weird and out of place!
Omg yes!!!! I really hope Anthony redeems himself because his story is my FAVOURITE!!!!
ok upcming rant+thoughtst😂 apologies in advance for my long af comment
-so i haven't read the books but i just finished binging the show lol omg i really did not like anthony but I LOVEDD benedict!! he was so darn adorable and his relationship with eloise was the sweetest.
-and idk if there's a reason behind why penelope is given the worst dresses but..what was that😂they were the worst shades of yellow and green holy shit i felt so bad for her, and her pining over colin🥺🥺
- it was so steamy phew loved it simon's raspy voice was🥵🥵
-i was so scared siena and anthony's relationship was going to be the story, didn't enjoy that one at all but then i went to goodreads and found out that it's someone called kate and i really wish we got SOMETHING??
-also simon was so HOT! but unpopular opinion: as a hero i really didn't find him to be anything amazing, their relationship was purely sexual and he never did anything swoon sworthy? or fight for her? there was just nothing but sex between them. i love steam as much as the next person but for me my favourite part in a historical romance book is when the H fights for the h/professes his love for her, it's usually the swooniest parts and in a historical romance it's usually the most romantic but it was seriously lacking with Simon.
- they never ily to each other?! maybe i'm just the biggest cheeseball but, again, it's my favourite scene in a book UGH
- i was supposed to watch it with my mom but then she started before me and was like.."yeah no, let's watch in separately" 😂
- i really enjoyed it but after finishing the seriesi really wanna swoon so i'm gonna go read some lisa kleypas and sarah maclean🤷🏻♀️😍
I am obsessed with historical romance novels, series, and films. It would be truly difficult to find a historical film or series I’ve not seen. Having said that, I thought Bridgerton was an “ok” series. I appreciated the diversity of the cast, and it is beautifully shot, but if we dig deep into the story and the characters, there really isn’t much there that we haven’t seen a million times from other higher quality film/series.
If you’re interested in high quality period piece series/films with unique and interesting stories, I’d recommend any of the following:
- North and South
- The Tenant if Wildfell Hall
- War and Peace
- Jane Eyre
- Wuthering Heights
- Outlander
- Downton Abbey
- Persuasion
- Emma
- Pride and Prejudice
- Sense and Sensibility
I can list many many many many more. 😂
yes, where was kate?! I loved the rep in the show! I love Penelope in the books so the show I felt so hard for her.....I 100% agree with your last point.
You have a goblin poster!! Aaaah
Lisa, I loved it and now I want to watch it again...
OMG ME TOO I have the worst hangover
I binged it too. Cant wait on season 2😍
ME TOO
“It made you feel uncomfortable”? Because “you didn’t need to hear .....”. lol. .... ridiculous.
I don’t think Marina was a villain but a victim she didn’t stand in the way of Penelope because Colin never loved her to begin with I do agree that what she did was wrong but i don’t think she deserves the title of being a villain 🤔 the show was great 10/10
I loved it and I liked Simon more
I loved it too
Did you notice that the Asian characters don’t have any lines? I liked how they tried to be diverse, but the Asian characters were all virtually silent.
Oh I noticed LMFAOOO but I think some south Asian characters did!
Sehun spotted!
Hi all, great series. Which country in Africa was this great series set in? Can't stop watching it. Absolutely fabulous!!!!
I hated Anthony so much. I didn't love him in the books, but he was horrible in the show.
Hey
Hi
I can’t with the forced diversity of the show. 😅
I hate what they did to Penelope. She is hideous for one. But I could overlook that if she hadn’t come across as such a jelous little villain. That actress was miscast!!!! I hate that as it was own of my favourite of the books and now I can’t I see her evil smirk. Penelope was fat in the books, not obese. More importantly she was smart and sweet. This Penelope was evil to Marina!!!!
This comment was downright unnecessary.
