The climate plays and extremely important part. I have two separate apartments 60kms apart, at one place where climate is humid (but feels relatively hot) any cutting i put in soil in the shaded part of the balcony will easily grow that too in summer during hotest months, no specific potting media or rooting hormone. At the other place where it is much cooler but less humid even with rooting hormones and care its difficult to grow during the same months.

Hmm.
This is the right time to grow chrysanthemum from cuttings.
Keep it semi shade and low water if need, don't over water.
cuttings mustbe grow in sand.

If you have cocopeat you can use but you have to watsh (dhona) cocopeat 2 to 4 time after that you can use cocopeat for cuttings.
If you have poting soil you can use but in poting soil has some vermicopost or cow dung so this is not good for cuttings.
Just simple soil no compost in poting soil for cuttings.

आज मैने 3 फुट लंबा गुलाब की 2 कटिंग लाया हूं Standard Rose के लिए कटिंग को नदी की रेत में लगा लिया है मगर कटिंग इतना लंबा है की उसे ढकने का कोई प्लास्टिक नही है और कटिंग को छाया दार जगह पर रख दिए है क्या कटिंग लग पाएगा और पानी कितना दिन पर देना है.....
