Wondering why I am not all that impressed by an immaculate performance of music I love by a great pianist. She is emerging from the early 20th century tendency to treat Scarlatti sonatas as trivial warm-up exercises at the beginning of a concert before you get on to the meat 'n' potatoes of Beethoven, but she's by no means out of it yet. The first sonata here, K132, brings hope, but after that she gabbles through the faster sonatas at such a pace that detail and emotional impact are lost. It doesn't help that the sound from the LP has been savagely filtered to remove surface noise, and has lost all the high frequencies so that you feel you're listening to it through a wall. How different from my old worn, noisy LPs of Wanda Landowska playing Scarlatti on her horrible iron-framed Pleyel harpsichord, for all their acoustic problems so full of soul and fire, and with every note given its full significance (but if only she'd recorded them on a piano!). As for the arabesque problem mentioned below, I always listen to Damavand's valuable recordings with just the bottom of the image showing on the screen so that I can check the elapsed time against the playlist if I get lost. Images are neither necessary nor desirable when seriously listening to music, unless they show a live performance which is a different matter entirely.
Indeed! Even when this lady, Clara, plays really fast which often happens in Scarlatti the playing never comes even a little mechanical. Great playing :)

Je n'ai jamais écouté la KK 132 dans un tempo aussi lent (je dois en posséder trois ou quatre versions en CD (Arodhaki,Sonderberg,Zacharias,Ciccolini....) mais REVELATION ! C'est ainsi (Haskil donc) qu'elle doit être jouée.

The piano is a stringed instrument, not a percussion instrument.
