Chloe, rear to front rotation is correct. But fronts need to be criss-crossed when moved to the rear of any RWD/4WD/AWD vehicle. That way over time, each tire will get used at all four corners.
Thanks for documenting your work, the camera and lights adds time to the job not to mention the editing and the planning it takes to tell a story. Just wanted to throw my thanks out there - I watch yours and a couple of other videos and installed my SPC UCAs and an OME 2 in heavy kit this past weekend. Thanks for taking the time. Edit: I know this is a general service video. It just popped up in my feed and I wanted to thank you for your vids in general.
Awesome job Chloe. Just a friendly tip, not sure if you done it already, make sure you lube the O ring (just soak motor oil or wd40 it) Also, for the air filter recharge, i would clean and re-oil and let it dry for a bit before installing. I usually just throw in the stock paper filter and let the newly reoiled filter dry overnight. Reason being, rechargeable filters tend to gum up throttle body and or MAF sensor.
Hey Chloe. I just changed my oil. 1000 miles. It looked dirty. 2022 Tacoma SR5 then I installed a 2 inch lift kit. 2 inch lift in the front and 2 inch lift in the rear. It looks great. And I just got my new Tonneau Cover. Super White. Solid fiberglass. I'm going to install it today. When I wake up. Love you Chloe. You Rock
you can use a plastic soda bottle to push the oil filter housing drain into place. The soda bottle will catch the oil in the housing, rather than have it run down your arm.
You can use the end of the calipers you used to measure the brake pads to measure the depth of the tread .. it’s the little end that protrudes as you open the calipers
Chloe, once again your detailed demos are the best. Your oil change segment was very helpful, the Toyota oil filter is unlike the traditional oil filters we have used for years with American vehicles. Hats off to you for doing the work yourself.

Very good video on maintaining your truck. Just to let u know u dont need to torque down your oil drain plug. But thats up to u. I bought a K &N cabin air filter so i dont have to always buy one every 15000miles. Just have to wash it out. When it comes to the drive shaft to be lubricated. I do it all together with the front n rear differential, transfer case n transmission fluid change at 30000miles. Everything is all drain n pour for my Tacoma even my manual transmission.
Wow. I've changed my own oil all my life. Just traded in my 22 year old 256K mile Tundra for a new 2022 Tacoma. Love the truck but changing oil looks like a pain. Changing oil has gotten very complicated. I have to say my Subaru is much easier. 😓 At least watching this video has prepared me that I need to get the right paraphernalia. Thanks 😊
If you shake the jack handle gently from side to side while slowly twisting it lowers the pressure much easier. The gear on the handle that meets the jack needs a little bump to get started, or it's almost "locked" into place with all the pressure on it.
10k Oil Change Interval is condition based. Basically, highway milers fit the criteria for 10k interval. Sticking to 5k OCI will pay dividends in years to come.
You are one tough girl , my daughter about your age could not do the same maintenance you did and I have hard time doing tire rotation on my TRD OD, good for you doing your own stuff and taking time to learn how to do it!
I don't think I ever knew a gal who owned a torque wrech and a breaker bar. Come to think of it most guys I know today don't have them either. You're awsome Chloe, like an added bonus to the Tacoma I just purchased 💯!
Good job! Just to pass along some info, my dealership and two other Toyota technicians told me that Toyota recommends either Mobile One full synthetic or genuine Toyota full synthetic 0-20W oil for my 2021 TRD Tacoma. Recently however I learned that using other full synthetic brands that meet their requirements will not void your warranty. You can also purchase a Toyota carbon cabin air filter instead of the regular one like you used. It’s more expensive of course but does a much better job. Thank you for another great video. You are definitely a DIY owner that I can appreciate.
Great video. One thought on the tire tread depth. You don't need any more tools. You could use your the calipers that you used to measure the brake pads. There is a depth gauge built in to the calipers. When you open the calipers, take the pin/bar that comes out at the end and stick it into the tread. Then close the calipers until the end of the calipers touches the top of the tread. The measurement will be the tread depth.
Great job a little tip when putting in the plastic oil filter plug to drain the oil from the filter I use a needle nose pliers it makes it easier to put in and you don’t have oil running down your arm and it’s easy to pull out.
Helpful tip using a torque wrench. Get into position so you're continuously applying a constant pressure to torque wrench until it releases. Once you've torqued a bunch of things, you get the hang of it and it will help eliminate blowing by the torque wrench release point.

a little tip for tight oil filters... let your engine get to operating temps. Slightly loosen the filter housing and plug FIRST. While it is hot. No breaker bar needed. drain oil, then go back to the oil filter housing and replace. Easy peezy

Since you take your truck off-road, you might want to clean the Mass Air-Flow Sensor. I use CRC's Lectra-Motive Electric Parts Cleaner which will clean the thermistor/s but won't leave any residue. A dirty MAF will cause poor fuel economy because the ECU won't be getting an accurate reading from the MAF to determine how much fuel the engine requires Vs. air flow.

Great video! Will you be filming other fluid drain and fill videos like automatic transmission fluid, front and rear differential, and transfer case? I think that would be a great series on the 3rd gen taco.
Properly filling and leveling atf can be one of the more difficult things to do on sealed transmissions as far as basic maintenance goes. If you can properly read the temp and follow the procedure it's not bad.
I don't know why Toyota had to make changing the oil filter so complicated! They took such an easy task and turned in into a mess making ordeal. Also, when checking your brake fluid, if it is low, DO NOT add fluid. The lowering of the brake fluid only indicates the amount of brake pad wear. Once you wear out your brake pads and replace them the fluid will return to the full level without adding any. If you have to add brake fluid you have other problems and you need to find out where it is going and repair it.
Might want to check out powerworks oil filter drain tool on Amazon. I use this instead of the plastic insert to drain the filter housing. Takes a little longer but it’s not as messy. Also I swapped to the aluminum filter housing on my t4r. Aloha!
Great video. My Ridgeline takes 6 quarts too. Good to know that 6 quart boxes are available. When I torque my wheels, I generally leave the truck jacked up enough to prevent the wheels from turning. Then after let down the truck. Just something I was taught. Btw, I road tripped the Ridgeline to NY last week. On I-81, I averaged 29.3 mpg using your mpg advice.

that's cool you do that but I don't have the patience I just go to the dealer!
Luv the vid as always. My daughter really needs to watch ur channel. Keep it up. Where is the vid on ur rims and tires install.
Thank you! I don't have an install video of the wheels and tires on my channel unfortunately.
She's adorable 😍 What about the differentials?
Excellent video! You should flush your power steering fluid. It’s a fun job! Great work.
Baxter oil filter adapter. Spin on the oil filter. Pricey yes, but hassle-free.
Thank you for this video. Off topic but what type of watch are you wearing?
Love the maintenance videos along with all of them!
Another AWESOME video! 😎🛻
Hey, how do you log your maintenance, just incase you need to show it to your dealership for any warranty service?
Your videos are great. Any thoughts on the metal filter housings?
Might want to check out powerworks oil filter drain tool on Amazon. I use this instead of the plastic insert to drain the filter housing. Takes a little longer but it’s not as messy. Also I swapped to the aluminum filter housing on my t4r. Aloha!
put the plastic piece in a gatorade bottle then jam it up into the filter.....it will contain the few ml's that would otherwise pour over your hand.
Huh.???? Whats a Ridgeline.?????
@@larrybailey1896 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck.
Awesome! Agreed, I love that Havoline comes in the 6qt boxes. Thanks for the tips and glad to hear about the great gas mileage!
@@alexrichardson5731 I think Larry was trying to be funny..
@@markohd1075 Maybe or he actually did not a Ridgeline is built by Honda.
My '94 Pickup (Hilux) would only pass the tread depth inspection.
