I tried applying for hax a while back it was the most stressful process ever. One would think when applying with the key points of solving a problem using technology for the masses would be a no brainer but eventually the projects that are chosen rarely are within this criteria. Then the ones rejected are told that for reason only they feel the project is in a competitive market or cant work yet you have POC and even orders to back you up. Thankfully I never gave up and pursued self funding avenues using the small orders I got. For those that are pursuing hardware startups, don't wait for hax and their panelist approval, if you think its a worth while project, do it anyway.
Excellent perspective. The true entrepreneur will do will it takes no matter what, and external validation (such as getting into HAX) is only icing on the cake. Self-funding does have advantages, including forcing you to focus on the MVP and iteration based on customer feedback.
Interesting interview! But if I may offer a video editing suggestion, normalizing your audio would help a lot. Compression would also probably be helpful, before normalizing.
50 4-layer pcbs for $6.00. Crazy! That's orders of magnitude cheaper than any pcb vendor I know, including JLCpcb and Pcbway. How are you pulling that off? Sign me up!
I feel there was a mistake. Either it's 5 2-layer boards for $6, or it's 50 4-layer ones for $60, and that's a very good price for 24-hour delivery. JLCpcb and pcbway are in a price war for the western market, so you actually get better prices than what we get in Shenzhen. We get stuff faster though. ;)
Yeah, I think he just mis-spoke. Man, if that were true, that's some kind of black magic that I ABSOLUTELY NEED TO KNOW! ;D
