- UPDATE since this video: With the latest update on the game, it no longer requires your synergy character to use an ATB charge, and it also doesn't cost them mp. It's actually not a worthless materia now!
I'll explain how the Synergy materia works in the FF7 Remake and guide you though how to use it.

Really cool tip, if you use magnify for your ability command whatever you have the other characters Materia attached to Synergy with will also be magnified and hit multiple enemies, I just found this out as I was farming AP and was using my quick menu to do firaga + magnify and I have Aerith with fire + synergy and after my fire went off she casted fire with magnify
how can you have magnify and synergy linked? you'd need like 3 linked materia slots lol
You simply have it set up the exact way I wrote then when you cast or use ability The other person will cast and it will have magnify as well
Trust me I just did it with Cloud and Aerith
Also just to clarify you have magnify and fire on cloud, then you have synergy with any element materia ( fire, ice, lightning, poison ) on a different character, not the same character

IMHO I don't recommend using synergy as it is inherently weak for the following reasons:
1- requires ATB and MP, which means it does not provide any advantage over issuing the command through the party member directly, which is a non-issue especially if you're using shortcuts which makes it just as fast/effective. It can however free up one of your 4 shortcut commands, but that is relatively inconsequential unless you're speed running or are just plain lazy.
2- synergy always casts a level 1 elemental magic spell (fire, ice, lightning, aero) and not level 2/3 equivalents (fira, blizzara, thundaga, etc). This means the materia scales very poorly as you gain levels, fight tougher enemies and play hard mode.
3- keeping in mind my first two aformentioned points, add the fact that it requires a materia slot that can link to another one and you are left with one of the shittiest materias in the game. It's literally so crappy that the Item Master materia is better.
Synergy would have been arguably better provided it scaled properly to cast level 2/3 spells at some point. But more importantly, it should NOT cost ATB.
Hopefully SE fixes it for part 2 or removes it entirely.

The fact that it doesn't cast level 2 or 3 magic makes me not want to use it. Even by the time you get it, level 1 is just not strong anymore
But what if it is the Weakness of the Boss you're fighting.. so, you cast the spell with less Mp used but still get big damage. And you can keep casting it over and over.
Synergy now is pretty good in intergrade, it still casts lvl1 elemental magic but it doesn't cost anything after update which is the reason why it sucked before, lvl1 elemental is bit weak but not on high magic damage characters like aerith or cloud as cloud is the second best caster in the game besides aerith if you build him that way, synergy is like big buff to every atb cost command and you don't even need to hit enemy to activate synergy.

@@thestrivinghero9536 You can't spam, when you need ATB. I agree that it would be OP, but with the ATB cost it is the complete opposite.
If your own ATB fills constantly, and your mate's doesn't, you are wasting the potential and an entire slot. OP for no ATB cost, but useless with 1 ATB.
It should be and be named like an inspiration or something. A fast cast, that would be thunder if the leader cast Thundaga. At no ATB cost this would be balanced I think.
It doesn’t require an atb charge on the partner any more on ps5. I just used this on Rude on hard mode. Cloud uses disorder to stun him followed up by standard attack. Areith automatically follows disorder with aero, which pressures him. Rinse and repeat and Rude is beat he can bear lay get a hit in.

In the Intergrade version is says it doesn’t consume MP or ATB, I haven’t used it yet, but it says that in the description now
I’m not going to be using it unless I need it for some specific purpose or later when I don’t need to focus on leveling up my materia

Nice tip. Sinergy seems useful since they only do regular attacks until you switch. The Magnify materia is really useful too. Is there a way to get more than one?
Unfortunately no, you can only get the magnify materia once in the game. Synergy materia works well as a convenience factor but it can end up being more of a hindrance. Especially if you are trying to save MP or an ATB charge for the supporting character

What if you want them to use a level 2 version, fira? Or is it just level one..
I just tested it out and it only works with level one spells. I tried doing an level two thunder with cloud and Aerith just responded with a regular aero. Same with attack abilities.

So it’s helpful because it auto casts the attack, but using the normal types of magic just isn’t gonna work lol. I guess it’s good for aerith and barret so they aren’t just shooting marshmallows all day long. Barret mainly
for barret you could try the mp recovery combo. aparently, if you link elemental + a magic spell, then link another of the same element with hp or mp absorb, the character will recover with each attack. that means barret is able to recover his mp by ALOT. every time he shoots. so you can make him the healer/magni haster of the party.
What if the other character with equipped magnify=fire casts while on a arcane ward? Will the double cast work?
yes. I just saw another video demonstrating this. So if both characters have fire and synergy is set to fire on one them... then if Aerith and Cloud are both within the Ward then they will each cast 2 instances of fire. And it only uses half the MP I'm pretty sure. So 4 hits for the price of 2.

You have to put the materia in the accesories not weapons??
How do you have four summons already? I only have Ifrit and Chocobo and Mog.
You'll probably be able to get the fat chocobo in the next chapter. The last one I got is the chocobo chick materia, which is only available if you pre-order the game. So don't worry you didn't miss any!

Few things to note:
- Cloud is usually the party leader so try to equip the materia on one of the other chars.
- make sure the materia slot is actually linkable and put your fire/ice/lightning etc on the other slot. You'll know it's linked if there is a blue outline around it.
-make sure you are playing as the party leader (usually Cloud) and do an attack that requires an ATB charge. Don't switch your character around or it might not work.

synergy materia not good. it use ally one ATB bar and damage not as high as leader magic damage even both party magic stat equal

Honestly after a while I couldn't even listen to all the words between the 'Eeerrrrrr's, 'Errrrrmmmm's and 'Ummmmm's.
Not to mention the double audio from the game, and the mispronunciations.
