One Saturday morning my wife and I came into our parish church where the pastor had installed an electric fountain. A couple of women ran to us to say they could see an image of the blessed mother in the fountain. I went to look and I saw what appeared to be an image of our Lord. I told the women that I couldn’t see Mary, but I did see an image Jesus. They took another look and now they could see our Lord and our Lady. When the pastor heard about this, he promptly unplugged the fountain and that was the end of that.

Please do not use "Gospa" as a derogatory term. Gospa is the Croatian equivalent for "Our Lady", it's not specific to Međugorje.
E.g. we also say Gospa Fatimska (Our Lady of Fatima), Gospa Lurdska (Our Lady of Lourdes) etc.

The concern I have is that this apparition has been going on for 45 years. I don’t know of any other apparition that has been going on for more than 4 years.

Way back in the Nineteen Nineties Father Malachi Martin made an interesting Irish observation "The Devil can't hide his hooves" , this apparition doesn't show her feet.
Our lady of knock (Ireland) also does not show her feet - do we make the same analogy here also ???

how about when "Gospa" supozedly said to one of the seirs that the purest person in the vilige was a perticular girl. It turned out she was not even baptized. So it goes against Catholic dogma and it cant be from the Virgin Mary.

The early messages from Medjugorge said that one's religion didn't matter. That's a false gospel so I rejected it outright and never gave it further attention. That was in the early 90s. I'm completely surprised at the number of people who still think it's authentic.

No evil spirit is going to want the amount of conversions n prayer that is going on in Medjugorge - thats the fruit we should be focusing on.. prayer, repent and above all the Holy Mass n Eucharist are the messages from this Holy place. How blessed are we that our mother knowing the times to come n the evil that is amidst us has been appearing regularly for 43yrs to bring more people back to God than ever before and not abandon us... lets give thanks n heed the messages - pray pray pray...

There is a third option. It may neither be of God nor of satan but rather of human origin. The Church recognizes this third possibility with all apparitions. They can be from people’s pious imaginations or from deception.
I knew a priest who went to Megjugore in 2002 . He spoke 30 different languages. He said that,he didn't know if it was true or not, however, he was listening to confessions for hours on end. He had a lot of people in his line because he was multilingual. He said the conversions were very beautiful and powerful. Throughout the years, I have heard about many positive encounters. Fr. Don Calloway even had a powerful encounter there as well. I thought to myself, If it was not from God, it would have dissipated a long time ago.
No one can speak 30 different languages.

Our Lady can heal or convert anyone, anywhere, but not necessarily because of the place, time or circumstances, but rather because of faith.
True, but then why do people do pilgrimages? Lourdes, Fatima, just to name a few.
If you pay enough dollars to Ivan the seer, you will get front seat view from his apparations in his private chapel.
That is not true. If you go on pilgrimage and stay at his home you are allowed to go into his private chapel for his apparition a few times if you are fortunate. There is no paid for front row seat either. You sit where you can. Pilgrimage homes or restaurants are the only way anyone can live in this area. Lourdes and Fatima is actually more commercialized.
I and my husband went to Medjugorje last Feb.. I did not see miracles with my naked eyes but I saw miracles in our hearts… a big change in me and my husband.. in our ways, wants, desires, prayers, will.. all that is innate.. there’s openness in us to walk the journey as pilgrims on earth… we still do falter but our Faith is strengthened and anchored always in heaven.. Thank you Lord God, thank you Mother of God, thank you ALl Saints and all Holy Angels…and thank you for giving us the chance to visit Medjugorje!!!

The Virgin Mary woould not let anyone stray in a totally wrong direction.
The reason she is appearing more often is because of the times vs. Fatima and Lourdes ( Catholcism was stronger than). Now evil has the strongest temptations in history. I am not sure if the have heard about exorcist having harder, longer times in liberating those actually possesed. Because there is so much sin.
Open you eyes... do not critize the Church or even individual priest. If you do get a bad vibe, pray to the Holy Spirit, only he can guide you. I recently had a priest that sounded soooo Protestant... but the mass is valid. How did he sound Protestant...? Basically it sounded like once saved always saved. I was internally shocked. I will pray for discernment, but meanwhile I can attend another Church.
Seriously, you will know when both The Warning and The Miracle happen. You will see how all the Apparition sites will have the signs.

This is our story as well... We didn't even know much about Medjugorje and were new to our conversion of hearts..and we didn't experience anything miraculous except saw and experienced first hand great piety, love, peace and complete devotion to Jesus and our faith. And no one was trying to "sell us" on anything... We came back with very very different hearts and our lives have truly never been the same since...we go to daily mass and our lives are just different..we went with no expectations and left with our hearts changed and full...ready to do God's will and live for Him and Him alone. 🙏
Faith isn't about a "feeling". It can change, be tested and we will have dark thoughts, and we will struggle, but with grace we overcome. It isn't a "good feeling"

I have friends who have been to Medjugorje and believe it, completely. My husband's aunt went to Medjugorje with a priest and group from her church (she is a faithful Catholic) and she said she felt the entire thing is demonic. There are a few things that make me think it is not a true apparition of Mary. Most things she says sound good, and then every once in a while, she says something that seems off. Medjugorje seems to be a tourist town, with repeat visitors, mostly from the USA, and most everyone who lives there depends on these apparitions for their income. This was proven to me during Covid, when, first, Mary said she would not be appearing anymore for awhile. (convenient?) and during the lull in apparitions, Jacov made a video asking people to send money because they didn't have any money coming in to live on. I didn't see requests from Fatima or Lourdes like this, so it made me wonder about it. Also, the attention the seers are getting. Most every other person who had seen apparitions hated the attention, but not this group. I watched a talk show in Ireland where Vicka was a guest, and her entire demeanor while going on and on about the apparitions made me raise an eyebrow. Also, the video that was made of Vicka flinching when someone thrust his hands towards her eyes, and then she said Mary almost dropped baby Jesus (not possible). Apparitions happening wherever the seers travel and they seem to be scheduled, and sometimes the apparition times rescheduled. I've never seen that before, either. But, what really has me wondering is the cult that has grown from this. People are either in or out. I know of people being ostracized if they don't believe in Medjugoje, they are avoided, ignored when at church events, and labeled by those who believe and follow. I've never seen such a thing happen with Fatima or Lourdes apparitions, either. The sheer volume of messages is of concern, as well. On the other hand, I've seen many people pray the rosary daily because of medjugorje and come back to the faith or convert for the first time. I've come to the conclusion that Jesus knows your heart. If the apparitions are not from heaven, Jesus and Mary see faithful people who come there and they help them in a variety of ways, OR it absolutely is true. I lean towards it not being true, but readily admit, I don't know for certain. Either way, no one is required to believe in any apparition, because apparitions are not part of the deposit of faith. Yes, this is Church teaching.

Thanks for that. I enjoyed reading your post because I did not half of those things you mention. I participate ever so infrequently with any apparitions’ message. They simply don’t attract me, with several exceptions of course. Our Catholicism offers enough to keep us occupied and FULFILLED from now until we leave our earthly coil. I’ll stick with that.
@@CherylYanosy I forgot to mention that the seers said that Mary said her favorite hymn is the Battle Hymn of the Republic. In my opinion, this is pandering to the United States visitors. Out of all the beautiful psalms from the Old Testament, this song which was sung by the Union Army during the Civil War is supposedly Mary's favorite? This is too much for me to believe.
Barbara I agree entirely. & oh watching the video years ago of the potential visionaries be poked in the eye during an apparition & then the explanation about Mary about to drop the baby Jesus was just outrageous! I've tried to believe, however I watch the visionary climb that hill & be videod..her facial expressions are the same each time along with the hand gestures as if its a performance. She's very sad as if receiving some upsetting news. Then her messages apparently from the Blessed Virgin are bland, or rather nice, a sweet call to prayer.
But her facial expressions are the same every month. Then yes very convenient to stop during Covid.

I don't think you have a good understanding of the character and history of the seer Vicka. Everything I've learned about her, including a personal encounter, indicates she is saintly and has suffered a great deal.
My Aunt sprained her ankle at Medjugorje. It was all swollen and painful. With prayer, the ankle was fine the next morning. While I do not follow Medjugorje anymore, it was the vehicle of my reconversion and I cannot deny that. I went there on my first ever pilgrimage and I did see the sun spin and my rosary did turn gold. I am not making this up. Now can the enemy work prodigies? Yes. But Medjugorje is still a holy place because of all the sacraments offered there, the countless confessions and the many daily Masses. My conversion has been a permanent one and I attend daily Mass and a Sunday TLM. Also regular confession. I would call that a 'fruit' because I was a very lukewarm Catholic before with years before my last confession.

Did you have your rosary checked with a jeweler to find out if your rosary turned to actual gold? The reason I'm asking is because silver can turn a gold color when exposed to oxygen (air!) and moisture. So, if it isn't actual gold, there is a scientific reason for this. I have a rosary that did this, but neither it, nor I ,have been to Medjugorje.

My Mother and Dad had gotten caught in a Medjugorje episode at a Church in our area. It was totally charismatic, and they were selling their books for a steep price. When my Mother asked where the money for the books was going, they acted very angry, and said "For more books".
Mary is a woman of few words. She doesn't do locutions for years and years, and seers aren't/weren't dressing according to Scripture.

I know this isn’t the case for everyone, but everyone I know that knows about Medjugori was already faithful and Medjugori or not, they would still be strong Catholics. But seriously, what sense does it make for the devil to trick people into praying and fasting and loving Our Lady and having community with other prayerful Catholics? Seems ridiculous.
I have been to Medjugorje twice and had very emotional experiences there and I also have evidence of supernatural events of which I have photos. It is very confusing and it seems to me that Medjugorje is a place where both good and evil forces fight. The rosary is prayed en masse, penitents are stuck in traffic jams, communion is given on the tongue, worship can hardly be called bad fruits or Satan is a complete idiot

You don't have enough information to make the claim that those are the only two options. You don't see the complete picture, how things will play out. Look up the demonic deception of Magdalena de la Cruz. There were lots of "good fruits" from all over Europe until the deception was uncovered. It is also true that the demons do not see the future, although they can take good guesses. That right there should cause one to throw out any argument of "Satan would not" simply because it's possible that they staged a deception that backfired, only to be continued by "seers" who kept a charade going. The net result could be good while the apparitions false. These are not mutually exclusive.

They are not rich. They live well for Croatians but by American standards are not rich. They own homes. they all work hard jobs and have children and large families to support. Most Croatians live in homes with other family members, often elderly. They are not rich at all

I followed the story and believed it for years. I was born and grew up in Italy. The amount of info and propaganda that you have access to in Italy is huge so it's easy for a Catholic there to be caught in this fraud.

So I've been on the fence for a long time now. I read Mirjana Soldo's book, and she mentioned that during the Bosnian war everywhere around the Medjugorie was hit badly, but Medjugorie was miraculously untouched. This is a sincere question - could "the enemy" have enough power to keep Medjugorie safe? Thats one thing that kept me on the fence. Also, there are videos where large groups of people (unrelated pilgrims) are together witness "sun miracles." Like the sun is filmed and then the camera moves to the crowd and they're all talking about it. Does the enemy have that kind of power? I always thought only God could manipulate something like the sun? These are sincere questions btw. Im super interested in what you would make out of these things.

Medjugorje is true. I've been there twice and also read this same book. Go and find out for yourself. But go in an attitude of prayer and self reflection. That is the only way to benefit from any pilgrimage. But not just pilgrimage. We always need to be in a state of prayer. If one goes to the grocery store with a negative attitude, he's likely to notice a rotten apple that warps his whole experience; don't you think?
@@ichthus1890 I just came back from Medjugorje less than two weeks ago. I felt nothing there, and I really wanted to. I was admittedly skeptical going in, but I prayed for an open heart to receive whatever the Lord intended for me.
I don’t know if Mari ever appeared there. I don’t buy that these apparitions and messages have been going on at will for 43 years for 3 of the visionaries. It’s all very strange and contrived.

@@Dienekes678 I’m on the fence myself. I’d rather spend far less money visiting an approved apparition site that’s closer to my home. If people go to Medj and are strengthened in their faith, great. I prefer to leave judgment of it to time and the Church. I do have friends that are devotees of Medj. and can be a bit pushy about it sometimes. They speak about it as if its approval is a given. And some of the people here in the comments are rather rude and judgmental to undecideds like myself. Saying we’ll repent and be on our knees, for ex. This is not helpful and is far more likely to push people away than convince them.
I think we ALL need to remember that HOW we debate is every bit as important as our arguments themselves. It’s good also to remember that we can be devout Catholics in good standing without believing in any approved (let alone not-or not-yet approved) apparitions.

My Mother is heavily in the charismatic movement and an EME (EMC?). She has been to Medjugorje and believes in it. I don't think she believes the facts I tell her about it, she also doesn't get why I will NEVER go to an EME for communion. I have seen good fruits, but I have seen some really rotten ones too!

Seriously though, I love and respect the charismatic Catholics in my life. They are wrong on the gift of tongues, but our Lord does grant charisms and miracles to believers. We need to be careful not to venture into heresy though, and Scripture with Tradition should be our guide.

People are thirsty and hungry for signs that will bear fruit. But there are so many deceptions in our world. Meditate on the Mysteries of the Rosary, especially the Sorrowful Mysteries. I would say reading anything Catholic past 1960 is probably not advisable.

The wording was changed and only Russia was to be consecrated nor was it done with all the bishops of the world. I'm so glad you are speaking about this. When I first started learning about Catholicism, I had come across this Medjugorge thing and I was very turned off by it and to Catholicism, until I learned that it was not approved by the church. Phew!

Finally! Thank you for bringing in Michael Davies book on Medjugorje. This book is very well detailed and Michael’s wife even speaks the language and they both spoke directly to the bishop. there are some inaccuracies in that book that were answered later on. unfortunately that book is from the 80s and relied heavily on bad translations and misinformation. Michael Davies admitted that he didn't believe in medjugorje even before writing that book which shows his bias. He was also super into ssspx and lefebvre which is a problem in itself.
What is your main driver for this presentation? How do you certify the truth in these stories passed on by others. If one day you find these are from Our Blessed Mother, how are you going to justify your efforts to discredit her and the Holy Spirits intervention?

My experience was of witnessing large numbers of calm, well behaved, normal looking people walking around, attending daily Mass, hearing sound Catholic preaching, going to confession to Priests from around the world. When all this started I had a friend that went several times & even spoke with the Bishop who was meeting with the Franciscan priest regarding hearing what was going on with Our Lady. Well, he said nothing was going on there. Now my sister is a Secular Franciscan & she said at the time that the fact that the Franciscan Friars disobeyed the Bishop & continued with this farce showed it wasn’t true. By their fruits… By the way Ivan lives in Malibu, CA. He isn’t wanting for anything.
The case of Medjugorje was taken from the local bishop and is now under Rome. The local bishop had issues with the Franciscans before the events of Medjugorje.

EM Jones did a huge expose’ on this in Fidelity in the late 80s of early 90’s. Read the whole thing back then and realized that it was a fraud. He also did a huge expose’ on SSPX back then (I’m old enough to remember)- not sure where he stands on them now. But it was brutal.

Where is the common sense? I see the same talking points as if its a broken record. We are not bound to follow private revelation right? My grandmother was a devout Catholic and wanted to go badly. A friend, a reputable one, had some knowledge, trustworthy contacts, and she told my grandmother not to go. She said it was not safe. The seers have made a boatload of money and their "messages" have serious issues. Based on the rabid reactions people have in defense of both unapproved "apparitions" is the indicator of fruit. Fatima, Lourdes, Akita, LaSalette, etc. are all approved and no one behaves this way when they are discussed. By their fruit they will know them right? Maybe some of you should ask yourselves why your backs go up so when any question or criticism is introduced. We know what we must do as Catholics. There is lots of healing documented in Lurds and Medjugorje- What is so wrong with messages of Medjugorje - What is the message? Go to confession at least once a month;- Go to mass- daily if you can and receive Jesus in the holy Eucharist:- pray the rosary every day; Read the bible every day; Fast every week.That is it .That what Mary our mother is asking of us. Theresa - I personally do not doubt that conversions and other wonderful spiritual revelations occur in Medjugorje- I know people who have been there. But I don’t think that the whole apparition of Our Lady thing is genuinely Our Lady; maybe God is bringing something wonderful From the faith and prayers and Eucharistic adoration.

Reading through the list of apparition sayings starting from the early 80s is enough evidence that they are not of divine origin because the statements are very banal. Someone with familiarity with the Holy Scriptures or the remains of the Fathers and saints would reject them as phony because of their poor quality. An atheist would find them boring and endlessly repetitive. The statements are nothing more than what an AI bot could produce from elementary exhortations in a typical sermon. Go to mass. Pray. If truly from Mary, then she has lost the poetic ability she demonstrates in the Magnificat. Which is illogical and impossible. There is no special insight into the problems of our age. I would think more likely it is a demonic deception to waste people's time and energy and distract from the work the demons are accomplishing in the divided churches through ignorance, indifference and practical atheism, and from the kind of repentance and good works that are necessary in our generation's spiritual crisis.

The local Ordinary and his predecessor has condemned it. You can go to their Mostar diocese website and read the bishops’ statements, that’s all that is needed. It will never become an approved apparition.
Nor has the Church approved it. Some of my friends speak and act as if approval has already been granted or is inevitable. I’d rather wait and see.
People that go to Medjugorje with the amazing fruits of this incredible place...countless conversions, vocations, confessions, adoration and healings.

I am so conflicted because I am a fruit of Medj. The book "The Visions of the Children" was instrumental of my reversion to The Catholic Church 30 years ago. . " If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand?" I am a conservative devout Catholic with a desire to be a Traditional. I will admit however that the "seers" seem very worldly, and that has always bothered me it doesn't feel right. If I had the experiences they had I would have become a cloistered nun. I knew a priest that was all pro-Medj and pro-Charismatic Renewal…and then he went to the SSPX and then to the SSPX Resistance.
He would have of course then abandoned this false deception. As the current SSPX has since compromised with the Concilliar Church (With The 2012 Fellay Agreement) The SSPX Resistance, under Fr. Hewko is the last remnant of true Catholicism and holding true to Archbishop Lefebvre's position. All others are have compromised with the False Concilliar Church (aka the end times counter church prophesied by Our Lady of Quito & La Salette)

I and my husband went to Medjugorje last Feb.. I did not see miracles with my naked eyes but I saw miracles in our hearts… a big change in me and my husband.. in our ways, wants, desires, prayers, will.. all that is innate.. there’s openness in us to walk the journey as pilgrims on earth… we still do falter but our Faith is strengthened and anchored always in heaven.. Thank you Lord God, thank you Mother of God, thank you ALl Saints and all Holy Angels…and thank you for giving us the chance to visit Medjugorje!!!

Essentially, what this good man says is, that all healings come from God (and no one doubts that) and if any kind of healings occur in Medjugorje, it has nothing to do with the actual place but rather that God enacted. Pretty much one can make the same argument in any approved apparition site. Or that the healings occur due to uplifting in prayer, to which he attested to the good fruits of the Medijugorje Marian apparition. It goes without saying that one needs to work on themselves after the uplifting experience in any apparition site by frequenting the sacraments and practicing the faith. The last five minutes of this video, this good man reiterates a story about a man supposedly promised healing through surgery and it didn’t occur. Take that story with a grain of salt

I’ve been there many years ago and I don’t know. But your bad fruit analogy is somewhat problematic in its application. Can a message be from God and then men make a mess of it? Does that make the original message bad? What about some of our “spiritual leaders” in very high places. I think it’s safe to say they are messing up the truth that comes from the Church in many ways. I can still see the underlying truth and not throw everything out because of men making a mess of it. I disagree with your assessment, but I think you we should discern this things.
Priests distorted the 3rd secret of Fatima, and still hide it despite Our Lady asking it to be released by now. People can quite easily 'muck-up' oOur Lady's works. Should we not believe in Fatima because men did not release the 3rd secret on time? Or rightly say these men are trying to 'muck-up' Our Lady's work through her apparition.

Fr Michael Rodrigue from Quebec put out his latest message today. He expresses the sense of urgency in receiving the message on June 15th - novena began 16th and ended 24th. Fr R's urgent message is coming out on the 27th? If urgent, the spirit would have prompted him to get the message out right away. (No excuse that he was getting together a plan for his presentation - livestreaming with 100 people on zoom - he would have just got it out by himself on youtube as he does other messages and comments.) I dont follow him, but a friend wanted me to listen so I did for a few mins. One part of his message affects our baptism and falling away and the global novena will give us grace. Again, isnt this important enough to tell people so they can participate in the novena? I listened to the messages after the apparitions in Medjugorie during the Novena and they were not what Fr R said ex: there WILL be a war. Another unapproved seer said no world war 111. Listening just confirmed what I thought all along....Pax Christi!
I am thankful to God for all the blessings I received when I went on pilgrimage to Medjugorje in the 90's (during the civil war) and again a few years ago. The apparitions are true and worthy of belief. Give thanks to God for our Mother's intercession and intervention in this time of history. Those who do not believe in this apparition will later regret it. Pray for them.
No Catholic is obliged to believe in ANY apparition, Sacred scripture and tradition, the Sacraments and Commandments are enough, your threatening statement that we who don’t believe will regret it is proof of how rotten this devotion really is!

Why do several people here say those who doubt Medj. will “regret it,” “be sorry,” and “fall to our knees and repent”? It’s perfectly fine to question apparitions. The Church Herself has a rigorous process for assessing purported phenomena and even then does not oblige us to believe. Why do so many Medj devotees (here at least) get defensive and threaten those who are questioning as if we’re bad Catholics? We’re all brothers and sisters here. If Medj. draws you closer to Our Lord, great. There are countless devotions in the Catholic faith, enough to suit every person. We don’t all have to follow this one or live to “regret it.”

So, I'm listening for more than 7 minutes, and all this guy has done is bash Medjugorje without a single substantive criticism. By this logic, I would ask this "traditionalist" whether we should judge the traditionalist movement by the fruits of the trad Atheist Steve Skojec.
"By their fruits you`ll know them" There are countless of testimonies of atheists who converted to the Catholic Faith when they went to Medjugorje.
There is also the story of Ercole Amanzi, he went to Medjugorje chasing a separated woman he was in love with, he was atheist and a member of the italian comunist party, he had a mystical experience and converted to the Faith and now he is a franciscan friar. There are more testimonies like this, of atheists who saw their whole life and sins in Medjugorje and converted.
You do know spanish Kennedy Hall, Maria Vallejo Nájera was one of them, listen to her testimony, she was an atheist who wrote books against the Church, she had her particular judgement in Medjugorje, she saw all her sins and she converted, now she writes catholic books.
