Some people say it’s not actually impressive but considering the big marketing push of 2017 alongside new hardware it’s still surprising totk is doing soo good considering very low marketing and 70$. Botw was such a good game for many people I’m not too surprised preorder sales are better
Pain always comes in with pure logic. I agree, it's not 'that' surprising, but I have to admit with how incredibly hyped BOTW was and considering how BOTW OUTSOLD THE SWITCH ITSELF! It's still kinda amazing to see. BOTW laid down the framework for TOTK and BOTW, even 6 years later is still fresh on the mind! I think this game will sell very well, time will only tell if it reaches those crazy botw numbers.
Hey Jeff, another great video :) This one came up in my feed today as well and I feel like it answers some of our questions regarding the direction of the game and potential hype strats :o hope you enjoy it too and it can make a good follow up video talking point as things rise up close to the date ruclips.net/video/l0Bpn22kC9k/видео.html
It's easy to forget that BotW for the switch was outselling the switch when it first came out. The fact that the sequel is doing this wells is amazing.
There’s over 120 million Switch owners compared to 0 when BOW launched plus a small amount of Wii U owners so yeah it’s simple math that Tears Of Kingdom would sell more preorders
This are one of the few only instance I might actually consider pre-ordering... I never once did any pre-orders on any game due to possible rushed content and buggy mess games sould get due to time constraints (and sure enough, that is one of the main issues it caused) But this is the only exception I made. Since I atleast know, they wouldn't mess this up. (Since it's their internal team making it, and not outsourced like the Pokemon series. And nintendo is consistent on releasing atleast mostly polished games... Compare to say other AAA game companies nowadays that abuses Early Access to not beta test and bugfix their games)
On a podcast, found here: ruclips.net/video/XnIX3d_P4no/видео.html (23:20) I talk about the quality of Nintendo first-party (NOT SOMETHING LIKE GAMEFREAK/POKEMON) games in terms of QA. Nintendo games simply come out in a better state than MSFT or PS - much much fewer bugs. You can be pretty sure when preordering a Nintendo game, it will be a solid, polished experience, without a day-one patch. So I agree with you, we should be comfortable preordering Nintendo games for the most part! (see video for more details & thank you for the comment!!)
BOTW was big TOTK is bigger, what most people are Underestimating is how big TOTK is mostly because TOTK hasn't been marketed as this "big game" the trailers and such have been very misleading as to the amount of content in this game.
i am going fucking insane waiting for this game. glad to know everyone else is too. this is an absolute two month crawl i feel like a lion chewing on the bars of its cage
With chip shortages I’ve been nervous how they’ll meet demand - preordered mine as soon as I could! I was not first in line for BOTW as I didn’t have a switch!
Like you I'm skeptical it can outsell botw because it's not groundbreaking like the original game was. But it definitely has the potential, just look at the hype and these pre order numbers even while so little has actually been shown of the game
not sure what the overall point of this comment is, I state in the video, multiple times this doesn't prove it will sell more than the original and even that I don't think it will. Also, games have come out with the same "install base" and preorders ranked lower than TOTK.
@@nintendovault I don't think it will either but there's so many more people to pre order the game now than when the first game went up for pre ordered.

Also selling for $70. Shows the true hype for this game.
Awesome news for TOTK! I'm excited to see how this game performs! Please like the video and thank you for watching!

more so in regards to the trimmed trailers and art book spoilers as the rest was already brought up and covered

BOTW sold more copies then Switches when it first came out.
Yea, I kinda just stared at the box for while before buying a Switch.
@@obmarte3803 BOTW also released on Wii U.
@Pat Fitch yuck. Sorry to hear that. Never knew. Only game I was interested in was Smash, but I refused to buy a Wii U for one game.
@@obmarte3803 the wii u is over hated, the majority of the switches good titles are just ports from the wii u lmao
@dom yea, but it had no exclusive Zelda title at launch, no Metroid and the Switch has countless great indies.

love your vids bud

TOTK is going to be something very special I can just feel it
BOTW was big

My brother bought breath of the wild a month before he could get a switch back in 2017
Been a fan of Zelda since my stupid toddler days of the SNES, of course i preordered TotK
it's not amazing larger instal base compared to when the Switch launched means more day one sales

i mean, but like... the game has taken double the amount of time it took botw to come out from its announcement. this does not surprise me honestly
Can't wait man
I never understand the point in tracking sales stats as just a fan. I don't really care how many copies a single player game sold
its fun
The strategy of totk is all around hype by fans like how smash did it
yup!
@@nintendovault oh since we are talking
What do you think about how nintendo treats the fans whit the fansgames

Nintendo fans when a game with an over 100 million install base gets more pre orders than a game who's console isn't out yet: 🤯🤯🤯🤯

So TOTK sold 1.5 million so far then?
We can't say for sure it because this is just representative of Japan, but it could have!
