You never know...I'm sure you could find a good use for one. Got any rusty yard tools that you want to fix up? I want one now too, but I have no idea how much those things cost.
I restored an 80 year old lamp. I took my time as i am an antique lover. looking at ur work I can see u more than a professional. ur an antique lover just like me & id love to be a promotional just like u.
Fun fact! Traveling railroad workers would use these "red lights" when walking into town, and they would hang them outside the brothels. Thus the term, "Red Light District."
I thought the glass was going to be permanently stained but that rust remover was amazing. Glad to see you hand paint the pop rivets. Really beautiful restoration!!!
Sand/Media blasting seems to be hands down the most effective way to remove old paint & material with the least surface damage. Great restoration as always!
A little "hammer & dolly" action. These restores are so pleasing to watch.... I don't usually offer any advice because there so many others that do, BUT, a trick is to always trim the wick with a convex "curve". Burns more evenly. It's worked for my lanterns..
Hey, Tysy! Week after week, you show us all these cool projects you find. Paris must have the best flea markets in the world! I hope you will continue to bring us these great finds. Take care, my friend. All the best…
Hi, that's what I thought at first, but since these lights were for signalization and not to be used as a flashlight, maybe it was better for the lenses to look red instead of white.
I got suggested videos from “my mechanics” and I honestly though Tysy just went for a total name change 😅 It’s embarrassing how long it took for me to realize they’re different people
It's a silly thing, but I'm always glad when restorers actually use a heat-proof paint with these sort of projects. Like... it's era for electronics, you probably will never use that lamp in your life anyway, so who cares? I care. It's a nice touch. Thank you.
Very nice restoration indeed. Personally, I didn't mind the metallic look of the unpainted rivets but it looks great anyway. Thanks for taking the time to show us the restoring of your Rail Road Lamp. Cheers.
I like restaurations...but I like even more to see old objects so beautiful. Even when they have so simple shapes and volumes! All the plastic stuff we have today don't have so much elegance.
Showed the importance of keying and etching metal before paint haha. You took a mass produced disposable/non reparable thing and made it better than new. Fine job sir
Alex yo not sure if you’re joking but this was not meant to be disposable, not too sure about the “mass production” either. Many yeah, but not masses. My husband has spent his life on the railroad and collects such things but he hasn’t seen one of these.
Seriously I fall asleep every single time. My eyes shut for who knows how long, and I have to back up to see what happened. It's more the sound, I think than anything. The bead blaster is my favorite, and now I want to get one, for who knows why, I have nothing to clean.
Man, i love your job, for me the coolest thig of it, is to bring back in shape the old artifacts used by our grandparents, in other time, and is important for the society to remember them, and the work they did, and keep their legacy alive. Edit; change the starter capacitor of the bench grinder!
Ah, finally something worth my time to watch ❤️ By the way, never considered to change the capacitor on your table grinder? Would take few minutes, cost few dollars or 🐷euro🐷 and it would start every time without help 😘
I like the grinder the way it is. Is it correct? No, but that little bit extra to get it started is pleasing to watch. I suppose after time it will get on our nerves but who knows.
Dear Tysy Tube: Painting the rivets with a thin brush takes your skills to the strastosphere. If it was me, I would have screwed up the paint job big time. 😝 Another job well done. 😄
Every time I see a negative comment or someone gives a dislike to these incredible restoration projects I have to ask, Where is your restoration channel so we can compare projects?
I love watching the process and progress of things that appear ruined turned into useful items again. This Lantern could be mood lighting...or useful in a pinch when the electric goes out. With that use in mind...I was curious if you thought having the interior painted chrome or silver would make the light it produces even brighter. More more...we want more. ;)
@TysyTube Restoration: I'm glad that you've found your way back to your own unique style of presentation. Very good restoration and indeed a very nice lamp in the end. Good job.

It's not necessarily my favorite color, but I have to admit it does look good on a lot of things.
Although my favorite color is blue red is my second favorite color and it looks cool on a lot of stuff
I have no NEED of a sandblaster.
But now I WANT one. :)
Tricky Rat same i just told my husband i wanted one 😂
Me too! Love that thing!
You never know...I'm sure you could find a good use for one. Got any rusty yard tools that you want to fix up? I want one now too, but I have no idea how much those things cost.
ct92404 You can get one online for about $150-$200.
@@Freexnme Oh ok, that's cool. That's actually a lot less than what I thought!
The Fresnel lenses are so cool. What a find, absolutely intact, with all the impossible-to-replace parts there!
Indeed quite a find hope he gets a P.O. Postal goigg I would give him some stuff to restore that he would be happy to do so.
Absolutely brilliant restoration and I LOVE YOUR SAND BLASTER
alden what are you talking about?
I'm impressed with your attention to detail. I didn't expect you to hand paint the rivets. Thanks for sharing.
Deconstructing an object is my favorite part..... well that and the sandblasting. I find your videos most satisfying.
I never ever thought a glass could rust. Let alone defeating the rust in a glass with MC-51. Lol!!! Seriously, this is magical.
The way that MC-51 got the rust off those pieces of glass is astonishing!
Mace Dindu Yes! Who would have thought? And I am sure MC-51 is glad he did that too.
Rust remover to clean the lenses? The Effect had me going "Wow!" :)
At least I wasn't the only one who verbalized "wow" when I saw that :).
@@firekraqr mine was less of a "wow" and more of a "woah"
now I will wash my contact lenses for eyes - only this way, and not by some gentle rainbow means
yet, I had a feeling that was a rust issue...
well, the lenses were covered with rust. So yeah. Rust remover to clean the lenses
The end part is like the most beautiful thing I've seen in a while.
You should make yourself a P.O Box so people can send you old stuff to repair.
Trust me he would be amazed what I would bring him from my dad's old workshop he would have a smile from days to come.
I restored an 80 year old lamp. I took my time as i am an antique lover. looking at ur work I can see u more than a professional. ur an antique lover just like me & id love to be a promotional just like u.
LOVE the white ceramic "candle" that the wick feeds through. Another great restoration!
Fun fact! Traveling railroad workers would use these "red lights" when walking into town, and they would hang them outside the brothels. Thus the term, "Red Light District."
Fun fact: there's no evidence to support that bit of folklore. Just google it.
Everytime I watch one of your videos, all i can think is I WANNA PLAY WITH A SAND BLASTER
I love watching you make the old new again. Truly satisfying and commendable. Nicely done.
It's so satisfying watching you use the sandblaster

I thought the glass was going to be permanently stained but that rust remover was amazing. Glad to see you hand paint the pop rivets. Really beautiful restoration!!!
Thats the point, you learn stuff, like how to get rust off of things you thought were permanently ruined.
Me: I've been watching these for hours, I need to just stop.
Also Me: Ooo a lamp!
Never knew glass could even rust... My mind has been thoroughly blown today! Its like seeing the world through new eyes.
The sandblasting session is soooo satisfying
Sand/Media blasting seems to be hands down the most effective way to remove old paint & material with the least surface damage. Great restoration as always!
These videos are so relaxing. My grandfather was a huge railroad buff and would have loved this lamp. A big Canadian thumbs up! 🇨🇦 👍
Awesome and surely the sand blaster was the masterstroke...I liked it
A little "hammer & dolly" action. These restores are so pleasing to watch.... I don't usually offer any advice because there so many others that do, BUT, a trick is to always trim the wick with a convex "curve". Burns more evenly. It's worked for my lanterns..
A thing of beauty 🤯
That lamp looks like it's from the 1850's. Cool.
I was thinking the same. Wouldn't they have used battery operated lamps in the 1950's?
Awesome restoration and the best part of this video is using of the lighter which was restored in the last video.

What a wonderful thing. It looks very cool with the red cristals.
This is my favorite one. I love those red buttons!
Beautiful job and well done
Great restoration. I would have painted the inside white as it would reflect more light.
Hi, that's what I thought at first, but since these lights were for signalization and not to be used as a flashlight, maybe it was better for the lenses to look red instead of white.
Amazing hands once again! Beautiful work! Love how you and my mechanics work together, both of your videos this weekend were great! ❤️👏
my mechanics is the best of the best
I got suggested videos from “my mechanics” and I honestly though Tysy just went for a total name change 😅 It’s embarrassing how long it took for me to realize they’re different people
I love your patience and attention detail. Could watch this for hours.
Looks brand new ! Beautiful ♥️
Loved the sanding process and the rivet work !
Yes!!! More sandblasting! Love it!
Love How You Utilize Items From Former Restorations.
It was a nice era when the railroad companies could afford lamps with real ruby gems. ;)
Absolutely love when you do the various lamps.
That lantern is beautiful! I would love that in my house!!
It's a silly thing, but I'm always glad when restorers actually use a heat-proof paint with these sort of projects. Like... it's era for electronics, you probably will never use that lamp in your life anyway, so who cares?

Como sempre ótima restauração. Tysy é muito bom ver suas restaurações perfeitos parabéns 👏👏🇧🇷
If I had a sand-blaster, nothing in my home would be safe.
@James Miller let me guess...Thanos reference?
I am now addicted to these resto videos, makes me want to do it myself!
Nice lighter you used! Great job as always
I also think it was a lighter he restored earlier as well. 😀
I would never have thought of using rust remover on the 3 lenses, since they are not metal. It really got them clean.
You are truly an awesomely smart and patient person you rock I love your videos I have subscribe. Thank you keep'em coming.
Watching sandblasting is so satisfying.
Sandblaster makes your videos even more satisfying. And painting rivets was extremely pleasant.
Beautiful! Your attention to detail is extraordinary.
The sanding is so amazing. Though I wonder, do you have to filter the metal parts in the sand, or how does this work?
You have to replace the sand when it gets too dirty. The little metal pieces help sometimes. The paint and other stuff does not.
Che bravo !!!!! Fantastico sembra appena uscito dal negozio dell’epoca !!!! Sei veramente unico !!!!
This lamp looks fantastic! You should hang it over the channel signal on the back. 👍🏼
What a beautiful job you did !!!!
I like that you painted everything red. It's keeping with the original design. Great job!
Best part was you lighting it with the lighter you previously restored!!
Such lovely technique! Thanks for sharing.
thank you so much 😊
Love these videos, they're honestly so relaxing. Keep it up!!

Thank you for painting the rivets. It put my obsessive compulsive nature to rest.
5:25, nice sandblaster and I love how this oil lamp lights up at the end of the video. I would like to have a sandblaster at my house.
Magnifique, beau travail et le briquet marche bien Bravo.
merci 😊
The sandblasting makes me so happy!
I like the way you use the brush to paint that little parts.
Very nice, ready for the next 70 years!
Cette lampe à huile est magnifique ! Superbe travail de restauration bravo :)
i knew polishing the red cristals was going to be good to see the result, i enjoy your videos tysy!
The railwayman's lantern became very neat to notice that it is a professional matter.
Ah, finally something worth my time to watch ❤️

a light paint touchup, is what brings his skills to the stratosphere? Really?
BEAUTIFUL red!
Perfect! Can the wick housing be rotated 45 degrees to allow for easier access to adjustment knob?
Absolutely amazing work
Great job looks awesome. Gotta love it when the paint comes off the rivets
Very good restoration oil lamp 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥

Very very beautiful lamp and work. Great job.
Very nice and awesome restoration. The lamp looks like brand new. Well done. I like your videos.
I used a microblaster at work, your technique is good!
Finally I can see your video! I'm back from the Red Cross and I'm tired, but I MUST SEE IT!
I love watching the process and progress of things that appear ruined turned into useful items again.

Since I'm American this is the only place I can come where things work out right.
Liking the new media blaster!
Beautiful restoration!
You really brought it back to its original condition amazing restoration
Superbe restauration tu as du talent et ça fais plaisir de voir un français faisant du si bon travail bravo a toi !
I was so hoping the red crystals would light up. Amazing lamp and job.
Lovely job, I was surprised by the three glass pieces shining red.
Like it nice job on that love how you used a lighter you restored to light the lantern seen that one too
