The brings back great memories for me. Me and my dad (RIP) rode the great Smoky Mountain railroad train to the Nanthala outdoor center many years ago. It was a beautiful ride! I’m really glad to see that the train was pretty much full, which is a good thing for the tourism in the town!
Great spot to see the train! We took it a few summers ago when we went to Bryson City to raft the Nantahala. It was a beautiful ride then so it would be even more beautiful now with the fall colors!
Hi Melissa, the train is awesome. I like taking the train. I have taken it from DC to New York and to Florida a few times. You get to see the land, especially going to Florida from DC and going thru the different states to get there. Take care, thanks for the video and hugs to Kody. 😊
What a long scenic train. I rode on one in southern Indiana once. It was autumn, and the trees were changing colors, and it was a very pleasant soothing afternoon. A very nice luncheon was served at noon, then the return trip. I really enjoy your scenic videos Melissa. So calming after my busy day.
Oh no!!!! I'm so sorry! There's nothing harder than saying goodbye to our pets. My heart breaks for you. I'll keep you in my prayers. Hugs my friend. 🙏
Yes, the nantahala gorge train(this train i filmed) goes to nantahala gorge, and i think there's a layover there for 1 hour, then u head back to Bryson city. The Tuckasegee river train goes to Dillsboro NC and u have a 1 and a half hour layover, I believe, then u head back to Bryson city. 😊
Oh dear! All that air pollution! But at least the old type of I assume wood burning engine's smoke is less harmful than invisible diesel fuel! Thank you for the video Melissa. Cheers from Pam in London UK.
Hi Melissa ❤ I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your posts. I came across you just after the hurricane devastated our beautiful mountains. I saw a drone video the other day and from that view that beauty is still there. Maybe some of the kudzo will be gone when spring starts. I have a selfish request of you. I used to live in the upper Alarka area and I haven't been able to hear how that spot held up. Would it be too much trouble for you to drive thru that spot sometime during your wandering? We had to leave there in 2015 due to my health issues and I'm so sorry we had to go! My heart breaks whenever you go up Deep Creek or drive past the courthouse 😢. Are you familiar with the Upper Alarka Rd turn? Please respond if you could make my day for me. I'll be more specific about locations if you can help. God bless you for the adventures. Regarding your need for the Chiropractor: there used to be a good massage studio on hwy 19 near the flooring store. My sister in law and I went there but its been 10 years ago. Hope to hear from you soon 😮😊
Hi there!!! That's not selfish at all! I'm not familiar with Alarka? I've been here 2 months. I can Google it and see. I'd love to drive by sometime, if i can find it! 😊🥰
@italian_grl Well I started this and tube stopped me to do an update s9o here I go again! I'm going by landmarks for the most part. Some road names I can recall. It is so kind of you to try this for me. 1. Past Ingles (on left)away from town and toward the dump (on right). 2. Past dump you will come to a convenience store on your left; take the immediate left which is an overpass over hwy 74. 3. You are now on Alarka Rd. This leads to upper Alarka. Follow it to Unahala Rd. This is a fork to your left. It's a dirt road. Stay on this rdfor approx 1&1/2 miles. There will be a turn into a switch back called Cloverfield rd. If you have made that left handed turn you should see a long drive way towards along home and a white house on the left. We lived there and my brother lives in the cabin. We aren't speaking so I have no idea what the area looks like now. His name is Joe Thomason and his wife is Nancy in case you run into them. 4. I would give you my number privately but I'm ignorant about such things 😆 so here it is but there isn't internet in that area. 864-451-7014. If you'd like you can call anytime. I'm bedridden so I'm available. God bless you and keep you safe.🙏😊
