As a nurse one should never use steroids for more than 2 weeks. It is meant for short term. They are dangerous if used for a long period of time.

I was on Steroids for 1yr, went to Stanford for a second opinion, that Doctor lost his mind that I was on it and said I may have to be hospitalized to wean off it. I was on the verge of a mental breakdown from that medicine, I could not function ! Having been gone from California now for 3yrs, I will say that their Doctors (most) just throw meds at you. I have found the Doctors I’ve seen, or my children have seen here on the East Coast be more educated and take time to explain why a certain med isn’t right, or how it is only to be used for a certain time frame etc. That’s not to say they are perfect, but I feel better than my 36.5yrs in Central California where I was born and raised.

I’m going on Year 6 of actively trying to get my health back on track - it started in 2016 with severe fatigue and I’ve been rotating doctors since 2018. With every symptom; hair loss, insomnia, palpitations, weight gain, cold intolerance, etc.
After 4 doctors not giving a shit (primary, cardiologist, gynecologist, and endocrinologist) I waited 8 months to get in with a 2nd endocrinologist as a last resort. I demanded thyroid testing with the first endo and it was abnormal and she refused to do anything, hence why I switched to the 2nd. The first appointment first question the 2nd endo asked was “So how are you feeling on your dosage for Hashimoto’s?” I said “…what?” And she checked her papers and said “Your Hashimoto’s, how is it going?” And i would’ve flipped a table had there been one in the room haha 4 other doctors kept passing me around and ignoring my blood work and symptoms - this 5th doctor at least confirmed immediately that I had Hashimoto’s. But I’d had it untreated for at least 5 years at that point, along with vitamin testing I had to demand I was severely Vitamin D, B, Zinc, and iron deficient.
Unfortunately that was all the 2nd endo was good for, as she then told me I was probably insulin resistant and to take 1000mg/day of metformin because I just needed to lose weight 😑 no doctor listened when I was telling them weight gain was a symptom, but once I’d gained 60 pounds by the time I got to doctor #5 then magically I just needed to lose 60 to feel better? I questioned her on metformin/weight loss magically fixing my thyroid and other symptoms and she admitted “Oh no, it won’t necessarily make you feel any better. And Hashimoto’s is incurable, you’ll have it forever.” I tried metformin for 3 months (even though I was not impressed with her logic I was desperate since I finally got a direction) and surprise, it did nothing. That was the last straw and in November 2022 I started a workout/nutrition program and various vitamin supplements - every one of my labs has improved and I feel closest to normal I have in years. 95% of everything I had to figure out for myself and tell the doctors what labs to order and what tests to run and now I finally scheduled an appointment with a functional medicine doctor because I do want actual guidance on how to maintain “normal” for the rest of my life. She has already talked to me and said doctors don’t want to deal with thyroid issues because it is “incurable” and remissions can only happen with key lifestyle changes - and the average doctor won’t guide you through a long process, they want to give you a pill. Which was 100% true in what I experienced. This new doctor ordered a dozen labs I’ve never had done before and I have an appt with her next week to go over the plan. But I just wanted to share that I felt crazy, doctors are largely not there to help you and it is incredibly frustrating but you have to be your own advocate.

I've always enjoyed your content and I have loved watching you evolve, your journey to motherhood, and now in current time! I haven’t even finished the video yet but PLEASE even look for yourself. You can google Drug interactions and type all your medications in and see if they even should be mixed. You’d think your doctors are closely monitoring but I was recently hospitalized 4 times because of seizures and brain fog. It started with much more mild symptoms for years but I ended up being diagnosed with Serotonin Syndrome. When it is severe it can be SERIOUS. I was always tired and had crazy brain fog. Always forgot what I was saying in the middle of talking and would tell people I felt like I had dementia. Remembering appointments even though they were on a calendar was impossible and I just slept all the time. With the amount of medicine you’re on I’d be surprised if some of the medications interacting aren’t causing a lot of your symptoms.

I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis it’s been 30 years now my daughter has it too. It can cause tiredness, anxiety. Lots of other symptoms too! Levels can change very quickly, I go for regular blood testing and ultrasound yearly of the thyroid because nodules are very common. I had the almost passing out feeling for three years, it’s absolutely terrifying!! I’m ok now my levels are good, but any sign of being extremely tired etc. I go back and get my blood tested. Taking steroids for more than a week isn’t good as it affects your immune system. You have to slowly be weaned off them. Having one autoimmune disease highers the chance of getting others unfortunately

Channon I do that with a lot of my products when they get low, I learned it from my mom, and to be truthful for me theirs something that feels good to my spirt in knowing I’m truly getting my moneys worth to the last drop. Haha! Have you ever been tested for covid? I’ve had two mild cases thank God but it did leave me with brain fog and ongoing headaches that I didn’t use to get. Have you had your thyroid tested. I was diagnosed early 30’s with hypothyroidism, and just turned 60 this past April still take a daily pill, and have my blood panels drawn every 4-6 months to stay on top of them. Would be a good ideal to have your iron checked for sure. I have always believed and was raised in hearing other family members say stress causes so much even to the point of diseases and death. It seems since covid honestly I’ve kind of not been the same cognitive wise either. But I am living in a stressful environment to. A person of faith that truly trust Jesus daily in all things. To everything I’m not kidding. I’m on a fixed income and have to count for every penny. Try to find people of faith that can help you be loved on while you’re facing challenges. I’m 28, with Hashimotos/ hypothyroidism and I’ve dealing with this issues since I was 21… I had to stop my career, working and hobbies. It’s been really really rough. I have GI issues. I see GI doctor, I see a cardiologist because I get heart palpitations out of nowhere but sea salt has been helping. I see a different endocrinologist besides the one I see for my thyroid because I have osteoporosis on my lumbar spine. I’m trying to see a dermatologist now because I can’t be out in the sun if not I have an allergic reaction on my arms and I start to get itchy with bumps. I went to see a rheumatologist to get tested for other autoimmune diseases as well because my ANA came back positive and I was having HORRIBLE bone pain 2x a year. Now I have an adenoma on my parathyroid which both endocrinologist say to not pay attention to it???? It’s been a lot honestly, and I’m tired. I can’t even go anywhere alone because I’m scared something is going to happen to me and I’m going to be all alone. My anxiety has gotten so bad. I really hope you start to feel better and get more answers to what’s going on because only people with chronic illness understand each other. I have had arguments with doctors because they always assume I’m healthy because of my age and weight. I wish they had more sympathy for us which will help with the stress we already carry.
My daughter is the same way with me as well when I take her to my doctor appointments. She’s like, Mommy are you okay?” My poor baby.

I have to take steroids every day for Addison’s, and it’s terrible. The side effects make me feel awful all of the time. I have also been hospitalized a few times in adrenal crisis, and it it so scary. There were a couple of times where I almost died. Thats so scary. I dont know what its like in your country. But here in Australia the chemists have a pharmacist who double checks all your meds and its a great 2nd check after the dr. They have such great knowledge.

It’s not making sense…if you do have addisons, why would they stop the steroid ..because that can also cause an adrenal crisis. If they don’t treat adrenal fatigue ..go somewhere else. Yes long term steroid use can cause this , but so can having addisons and stopping treatment which is why I’m guessing he’s like “prepare to be hospitalized etc” …you might call the doc who diagnosed you because I find it wild they don’t treat adrenal fatigue where you’re going but they are willing to wean you off a steroid that is potentially keeping you alive if you do actually have addisons …
Obviously, I’m no doc but I am someone with Hashimoto’s and other autoimmune conditions who’s been gaslit for 10 years about crap too so I just worry for you.
Either way, it’s all scary and I’m sorry you’re going through this! I hope you can get a clear answer soon 🤞🏻

Too many meds can work against each other, too many doctors have different methods and meds and one does not know what the other does, and you are in the middle off that and hope they know what they are doing, even thinking the wrong thing can make you sick, if those steroids are part off the problem taking less should make you feel better, you certainly deserve a good and better life than all the crap you had too deal with in the past years, check the blood regularly too see if it changes, wanna see a happy Shannon again ok 😀

Channon - you need to check out classes that are offered in your area that teaches the kids what to do in emergency situations. I know where I live in Knoxville there is a place called Safety City and they teach kids about fire safety, traffic safety, 911 and all the things to help the kids not be afraid but also to know what to do when things happen. It’s a great program and is really good for the kids.
I am sorry for all your health issues and will be praying you find out what’s really going on and get proper care!

Hey Channon! I’m sorry you going through this. I can’t imagine the way you felt when they told you that. I remember in one of your old old…videos. You mentioned in one of your daily Vlog all the medicine you were on. You were crying on that video. I commented you have to be careful with all those medications because Dr love to prescribed patience’s all kinds of medicine just to see if this works or that works. We all know, we don’t have to be Dr. to know this. They give you something to fix that problem which will never will get fix. But it damaged something else and you go to the Dr to check that something and here you coming out with another medication. Maybe this is the reason you feel you forget things or you stay blank is because of all those medications the Dr gave you. is destroying you all your inside. Is not letting your body to do what it’s supposed to do. Sorry! I’m Spanish and I don’t know all the words in English and I have to use what is closer to what word I’m trying to say. 😊 I’m surprises for you been so ego friendly and homemade anything and planting your own vegetables and fruits. You haven’t get into natural homemade detox remedies ect. There’s all kinds of stuff in Tiktok can teach you. The make your own stuff. Of course for more serious situations we need Dr and medicine. But you can search and check. I’m very surprised you haven’t do that yet. I see so many ppls on tiktok doing there own things and is working good for them. I wish you to feel better ❤️ you will come through 😘

Oh Channon, I hope your new doctors get you on the right track very soon and you'll improve tremendously health-wise. I've added you to my prayer list. None of us can get prayed for too much. I always thought that steroids were for short term use under very close medical supervision. Please follow your new Dr's recommendations. You're going to be A-OK soon.
