Hey! My name is Natalie and I love sharing about my life as a mom and homemaker/homesteader. Around here we embrace the coziness in the chaos and the magic in the mundane. I believe simple joys and a home filled with love (not STUFF) are more important than "keeping up with the Joneses." I'm glad you stopped by! I hope you find some encouragement and gentle motivation and a cozy corner of the internet that's full of peace.

I dealt with a chronic pain disorder that turned my life upside down when I was a kid. I also had ocd in the following years as a coping mechanism of not having any control over my health for many years. This is the first time I've heard anyone else mention this hand in hand ❤
I hope doctors can get to the bottom of this for you! It's so hard being a momma and having something effect your health. You've got this!!!

There’s so much I could say, but I’m so sorry and I’m deeply praying for healing for you, my dear. I empathize greatly and know how hard it is to have unexplained, very difficult symptoms. Thanks for sharing such delicate information with us. You have your “online tribe”. We’re rallying for you, Natalie. ❤

The same thing happened to me this past month. Back to back migraines I was in the bathroom and one came out of nowhere and I completely lost my vision in my right eye. I thought I was losing it then I got dizzy and collapsed. I went to the hospital as well because that feeling I am dying and doctor recommended to go in which sounded like a stroke or a rental eye detachment . I experienced this headache back to back to back for a days worth into the next day. It’s debilitating, and exhausts you. Although I don’t have a history of this, but being 5 months pregnant starting these migraines was terrifying, no clear answers. I had to follow with neurology and cardio. At the time I was diagnosed with ocular migraines, this is absolutely terrifying and feeling hopeless especially when there are young children involved in your day to day and you want to be well and there for them. Praying you find some hope, and clarity with continued wellness! Prayers to you and your family 🫶🏼

Happy birthday to you Natalie ❤️
I feel for you during this hard season. I have been going through a hard season myself and it has put me in the deepest depression of my life. Chronic illness of any kind can be so scary to go through and while I'm still in the depth of it, I just wanted to give you a virtual hug and tell you I'm thinking of you. I hope that you will get through this so the next time it happens you will have a better understanding of how to help yourself as much as you can during the next difficult headache.❤

Thank you for the reminder that you can both be grateful for tests showing nothing bad but frustrated and scared because you have no answers. I’m going through something similar with my gut health right now where tests are coming back clear and I still have testing coming up, but there are zero answers as to where the pain is originating. I will be adding you to my daily prayer list that you may get relief and get answers.

Natalie, I'm so sorry to hear about these health struggles you're going through. I also experience complex migraines with very similar symptoms to what you're describing. I used to think I was having seizures until I was diagnosed. For me it happens mostly when I'm pregnant or newly postpartum so it seems to be hormone related. Anyway, it's comforting but also sad to encounter other people that struggle with this. I wish you the very best and hope you find more answers and relief very soon. And most importantly that you feel love and comfort from the Lord each day ❤️

Finding all the matches to the socks and getting them put away. I can't seem to find matches and just have a basket of socks that are matchless. Idk where all the socks have gone. :/
I wish I could get laundry washed, dried, and put away and not have to look at all the baskets in my room of everyone's clothes. It's just a constant stuff shuffle bc we don't have storage for the winter things and summer things and so everything just ends up in our room :(
And I know that doesn't make him happy and peaceful either. We just feel smothered in our bedroom.
I feel like I do the same thing over and over and nothing gets done.. and stays done.

Quite some time ago I saw a talk about bad experiences, compassion, and healing. I'm almost positive it was with Brene Brown, and I hope my paraphrase is reasonably accurate. She said that we tend to rank order suffering and tell ourselves, I can't complain about my boss putting me down in front of my coworkers because I know so-and-so just received a cancer diagnosis or lost a child. Then she pointed out that there is enough compassion to go around, and your bad experience is a wound that needs to be healed, even if it isn't the worst thing that could ever happen. My takeaway was that we should show compassion for anyone who shares a negative experience, instead of downplaying it or engaging in one-upmanship. Best wishes for good health in your future!

My heart goes out to you, Natalie. I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety due to pain, but the greatest piece of this is that it has made me desperate for Christ like I'm not when I'm well. The countless psalms about His steadfast love and how He is near to us and a refuge has been the greatest solace. My favorite verse these days has been, "I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry...he put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God." Psalm 40:1,3

It’s hard when you’re thankful that you don’t have all the other “horrible” diagnoses but at the same time want answers and solutions to your pain and suffering. We have been there. Our son has a tumor in his hip that destroyed use of his leg from the knee down. We went through so many moments of being thankful that it’s not a worse diagnosis but at the same time frustrated and losing hope. Anyone who has been through a frustrating health diagnosis understands your feelings completely.

As a mental health professional one of the things that I talk about most often is the concept that two opposing things can be equally true, and that it is totally okay to use and not but when talking about things in that way. It is totally okay to feel happy and sad at the same time, and that actually although this can make us feel conflicted, it is actually really normal. Toxic positivity is so prevalent in society that there is always this pressure to be positive because someone has it worse, but that is so invalidating. A persons feelings are always valid and require no justification. Thank you for sharing in such a thoughtful and considered way. Wishing you all the very best Natalie, I hope you are able to find a plan that works for you very soon 🤞❤

I absolutely love this philosophy, I so wish I could adopt it. A lot of my family has undergone Lyme disease though and it's so hard to balance the fear of that, living in a place where mosquitoes and ticks are smothering us, and also to get that "1000 hours outside". I wish I had a more carefree way of thinking about it but my anxiety is so high!

I may not know exactly what you are going through with your specific type of migraines, but I sure know how a migraine feels. You’re exactly right, when it hits, it’s like you lose all function and it really CAN affect your mental health more than anything. I’m so thankful for my neurologist who has been able to help me seek answers and get on the right medication to help me. Thank you for sharing this tough journey with us. I have been very lucky and only have a bit of a walking issue with my left leg.
This morning I finally realized that when I water the garden (I am always planting/replanting) I am going to drag a chair around so I can sit and water. I am ok with that. I get to water a garden I have worked on for 30 years. I am grateful and glad I finally figured that out!😁

Natalie, I appreciate this video and your vulnerability in sharing your struggles. OCD is such a painful and crippling thing to go through and is not talked about openly enough. As someone who has dealt with symptoms firsthand and watched other members of my family deal with, it’s so refreshing to hear you open up about your experience. And in general, it’s helpful to see that we are not alone in our darkness. So many times when I have gone through storms in my life, it’s been hard to watch videos or movies or anything really where it appears as if everyone has it all together because that’s so far from where I feel. You being so open and sharing the hard along with the good is so helpful and only proves that happiness and sadness can coexist and that there is beauty in the broken. Thinking of you 💛

Hi Natalie! I don’t typically comment on videos but I’ve suffered from migraines for a long time. Over the winter I had two what they called at the ER “ocular migraines.” Tears immediately came to my eyes when you verbalized the symptoms you had because they were almost identical to mine. I’ve never really had anyone tell me or found someone that had the same or similar symptoms. It was absolutely terrifying. Natalie! I have ocular migraines as well, I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension along with Papiledema and that's the reasoning behind mine. Lifelong diagnoses at 24 years old and I'm 25 now so still settling in a lot of the same "it could be worse" kind of feelings. I also suffer from horrible OCD which has gotten so much worse after having children starting in 2016, I read somewhere postpartum OCD exists and since I already had it I like to think motherhood heightens it. You have a special place in my heart because my youngest (who's 4 now) loved listening to your voice and would light up as a baby anytime I put on your videos. Thinking of you and wishing you guys all the best. 🤍

As a viewer since you started your channel, I've followed along through your joy, loss, growth, change, and health. I have been through so many similar things but currently going through infertility and severe depression/anxiety, OCD due to it.
Not that I want you to be struggling, but when struggling, being alone can often amplify the struggle. This has helped me feel not alone, and the background music when making your bed brought me so much peace. I need to find it! I just turned 33 (may 6) and am praying for a miracle for our family. My husband and I have seen your content for years (I was single when I started watching!) and you and Weston have been a model for us when working on a fixer upper and seeking the Lord.
My physical and mental health go hand in hand, and I want to validate any and all struggles you're dealing with. I also want to validate any JOY you may be experiencing that is confusing in a season right now. You are loved and seen and I'll pray for your heart and body 🤍

Natatlie I haven’t watched the video yet but - I have thought about you. Back when you first found that parasite and were having gut issues. Guess what? I developed major gut issues last year. What’s worse is somehow after treatment (it didn’t go well) I developed POTS and dysautonomia. Fibromyalgia and arthritis. I’m only 29. I have 2 kids and amazing husband. I felt anxious in my body and having dopamine issues. I got my vitamins tested, adrenals and hormones tested… they were depleted. I have barely any normal hormones for some reason. Then I got a gut test - I had 2 parasites, 3 bacterial overgrowth. My gut microbiome was depleted. Ive gone into medically induced depression and ADHD feels out of control. Very weird symptoms. I felt I was going crazy. I felt so validated to see tests showing my body was messed up in more ways than 1. I’ve been working a whole year to eat low carb - no gluten or dairy. Taking organ iron, D3 with K2, digestive enzymes, omega 3. I got on bio identical progesterone. & I’m at the end of a kill process to get rid of my overgrowth/parasite. Things are going well. My depression is mostly gone now and my emotional regulation has gotten much better. I still have night time anxiety but I think it’s a matter of time! I also have spinal pain that comes and goes. I will never judge someone ever again about mental health because I completely believe your gut drives it. Our hearts matter to God so yes address that too but take it from me - I spiraled in about 2 years and it was medical. Basically I spent 6 months and 15k to go into a program that basically made me overhaul my diet, get on way too many supplements haha but they help, and address my hormones and gut microbiome. Many doctors don’t know how to help women’s hormones … I fear many are suffering because of that. My estrogen, progesterone and DHEA were literally tanked. Ideas for you. I’m so sorry your going through this. I’m in Oregon and I went through Dr Maggie Yu - she runs an expensive but helpful program out of Washington (it’s online based) I’ve met her in person so I trust her.

Thank you, Natalie for sharing your story. Praying things get better for you. What you said about being grateful, yet still anxious and scared I totally get that. I waited 2 weeks for dermatologist biopsy results and l was freaking out. Turns out I don't have melanoma, which I'm extremely thankful for, but I do have abnormal cells and need to have it removed. So even though I'm very blessed and try to focus on that I'm also dealing with anxiety. The way you explained it makes perfect sense. It's ok to feel this way. We're human and even if it's not the worse case scenario, thank God, it's still hard for us. Blessings!!

Wow! This all sounds so much like my sister, who after 10 years was diagnosed with MS. Identical symptoms, though I'm NOT saying that's what you have, simply sharing that she too struggled for a long time to get a complete picture of what she was dealing with.
Not only is it not a "pain Olympics", everything is relative. Depending on where we are in our lives determines how and how much we can overcome our challenges. A good support system is key and it appears that you definitely have that. 😊

Migraines as a child are terrifying, I was diagnosed when I was so young I don’t remember not having them. My mental health was the biggest casualty in this battle as a child and teen. I didn’t get a week of relief until I was an adult so I say with all the love and support I can muster, please take care of yourself first. We will be here patiently waiting for you as long as you need.

Long time viewer. I took a much needed social media break. I'm pregnant with our rainbow baby after being told I'd never be able to carry. I made it to 12 weeks yesterday 🙌. I've been so sick though and have had to get weekly fluid and vitamin infusion weekly. I've felt so drained and it's been so hard to be in good spirits. I finally had some good energy today to spend time in the backyard with the dogs, it felt good to be in the sunshine.

My sister, mother and I all have this unknown neuro-muscular degeneration and with it comes debilitating migraine-I’ve had constant head pain (with flare ups) since 2012, and no meds have cut it. I’ve had to quit working in 2022 from everything, but it was specifically after leaving work for the ER multiple times over months for this type of migraine.
Everyone is different, so I can’t tell you one thing or another about easing up your pain, but I found that stress plays a huge part of worsening them. Same for over-exertion. I feel best when I’m not pushing too hard, which is easier said than done as a mom. Having a family that is willing to step up and take care of you certainly is the key to recovery. Hope you find some relief!
