As a lv 40 player who has both the legendary shiny birds AND mewtwo, I can say for certainty that I’m HYPED!!! I don’t get what people are complaining about! The people who were never lucky on getting a shiny bird AND getting an Ex-raid pass now have a ONE IN A LIFETIME chance to redeem themselves!
The only thing i get is possibly a 100% Mewtwo, Kangaskahn mr.mime and possibly a good iv shiny moltres. I kinda wish there were stardust and xp bonuses

We're getting more chances at shiny legendaries, Mewtwo in raids, rarer kanto Pokemon ( probably good ones like Abra and stuff), region exclusives available basically everywhere. And it'll also probably set the stage for gen 4 and a new ex raid boss
I'd rather events were spread out so that theres always something happening. Having it all at once then going a month with nothing special at all is how people lose interest.
I agree. I really wanted to collect them down the line. Makes me not want to go after the others unless we get confirmation they won't be released. Not that I won't travel anyway but having a life long goal to travel for Pokémon is the stuff of dreams and this just cheapens it
This stupid event is seriously making me consider quitting. There is no point in hitting EX gyms anymore for the pass if we're going to get a month of Mewtwo .. Everyone and their mother can get it now. Pointless. Makes my 100% mewtwo useless aswell that i was super hyped about when i saw the CP roll. Kthx niantic.
lawlestest well as far as ex raids go that’s a tough decision. Most players are never going to be able to get an ex raid. So people in popular playing spots are the only ones able to get one? At some point you knew they were gonna do this
If you spend money on this game you will be mad about the unlock. For the people that dont this is awesome! Remember this is gaming overall, you grind to be the first to have the best "things/items" in the game but one day even the noob will have them all. As a kid that was picked on at school for loving pokemon when it first came out Gen 1 can stay and i would love it. As we move on with pokemon go gen 1 will be pushed to the side and the birds and mewtwo will be very rare in 3-4 years. Love the game. Love Pokemon. Love life. If you are so good and dont need anything from this event help the kids that cant go and walk to play pokemon go. Get them a Mewtwo and trade it to them. Help the kids that one day will be the next Pokemon Masters.
That's a lie. You don't have to spend ANY money on this game to have lots of Pokemon and coins to get items that you want. Trading also gives everyone the opportunity to get regional Pokemon without traveling. Personally, I like having some Pokemon that are rare. It's fun to see them in gyms when others place them in, and it's also fun to put them in myself if I have them. If there aren't rare or regional Pokemon and we all have everything, where is the fun or excitement?
To everyone like "ex raids are useless" , "the birds are overrated" and all that, shut up. Anyone who lives in the cities shut up. You have no idea what it feels like to live in a rural area. To be the only one playing around, going into the raids knowing full well you dont stand a chance. I got articuno from the research tasks once i finally got a better mobile signal in my area, but i only have one. No moltres. No zapdos. I got one suicune when my family drove 3 hours to the nearest city. I have 3 stamps on the way to my 1st entei. So please, stop saying that they shouldnt be doing this, because for the ultra rural players like me, this is another chance that we will have to watch pass us by alone, with the smallest chance of actually getting a rare pokemon.

How about rurals stop complaining and move to a city. Or you know, take a weekly trip to your nearest city. If I can take a daily 40 minute bus trip to play Pokemon GO, you can too.

I agree with both of you. I wrote the exactly same things in my group as well. To be honest I did the moltres raids only for the dust, but c'mon.. bird trio once more (for the 4th-5th time?) .. Pfff...boring. At least I will be expecting new shiny forms for gen1 pokemon.
Goes to show if you spend money on a mobile game, you really are just wasting money. You have a temporary edge thats about it. It wouldnt be fun if they kept things exclusive forever when the majority of their base are people that cant afford travel and cant buy all their "ultra packages". Just a thought.
How was it not worth it? Did you not get the pokemon you worked for? It's only worthless if you make it worthless. Take spoofers, we legit players think their mons are worthless because they don't have the work behind them as we do. I have stories for my mons like " hey remember we were in X place and caught that?" type of deal. The ex raid mewtwos and level 5 mewtwos will have different meaning to people.

Wooowwww all the butthurt in the comments is sad. I for one am super excited! Our town has only had one EX raid and I missed it we’ve never had another one! I’m super stoked to get that mewtwo and all them regionals! And second chance for shiny articuno and moltres! Do the eggs start the 13?
You would be butthurt if this "Ultra Reward" had nothing of interest. I got all the shiny birds, had to sacrifice several cool pokemon to get the three regionals I needed and worked hard to get my EX raid pass. Now it is all being given away for free. Nothing new has been added for this event, just assets they already had. I will forgive them if they release gen 4 which they have been hinting for a while now. I dont want to be negative, I have been impressed with Niantic until the two months.
Samuronite Wars I wouldn’t be butthurt, it’s a chance to get better IVS and it’s taking regi away, I’m grateful for that. And it’s still awesome IMO. We have worked hard here trying to get an EX raid pass and nothing, so I’m stoked for this, I’m sure small town players like me are too, it’s a game, made to be enjoyed, not butthurt over cause you “worked hard”. I’ve worked hard on my raids but that was my choice, not a have to.

Unless Niantic adds great box deals with cheap (half priced raid passes and incubators), the only reward will be for Niantics bank account... Don't get me wrong, i do like the options of regionals, the birds and mewtwo etc but I can only see this as a way for them to sell more raid passes and incubators because we all want the rewards etc. Sure you can keep playing for free but you won't get as much out of the rewards. + stop having it be like 30% alolan meowth, +30 alolan Sandshrew, 30% alolan diglett and 1% chance of regionals. I stopped hatching 7km eggs because it was just ridiculous the crap you recieve. Have the odds be in our favor atleast for the event time being...
This bonus is a joke for dedicated players. We have had the birds in quest and 3 hours events. Also the Kanto pokemon event has just finished. Mewtwo would be nice when the shiny form will be released.

Didn't we just do the birds? Not sure how I feel about regional in eggs. Of course I'll take them to fill the dex but I'd rather earn them vs hatch them. (personal opinion) I know many haven't gotten EX passes but I'm about as rural as you can get (half hour drive to get to a gym that is EX....I know. Lucky I can do that as an adult) but we blew off the last few because between driving/coordinating time/gas etc enough was enough for us. Since Niantic loves to announce shiny in advance doubt MewTwo is going to be shiny. (this all before watching anyone's video) Soooo everyone go out and buy passes and incubators.
Couldn't agree more with you. To me it's not like "ultra unlock"... We had the bird trio as raids in the beginning, then they returned once more (weekly raids back then), then we had in daily quests, then articuno/zapdos/moltres/ day and now....once more?!!! I mean, c'mon. I have no interest for them at all. We had Kanto event a few months back, now kanto again. I also agree that I'd like to find the regionals through trade. It's like the decrease the value of trading, to me at least. The only thing that is worth, is Mewtwo..And that, without shiny form.. At least for now.... I don't know, but the ultra unlock did not have the impact I was expecting to have.. All this is personal opinion of course. And sorry for the rant :P P.S.: NIANTIC, AT LEAST GIVE US EVERY SHINY FORM IN GEN 1 , if you want so badly everyone to fill their pokedex !!! This way, all kinds of players can find motivation to go out for gen 1 (once more).
HA! Rant away. I'm sure we're in the minority here. I know my daughter is going to be happy about the birds as she is missing 2 shiny so there is that. I don't want/need anymore Mewtwo and I'm really not a huge raiding fan that has to be done by 3 or more people. I can't imagine what a mess all these eggs are going to be like, waiting for them to hatch to see what you get. Discord is going to be going crazy and my gas gauge is going to go down fast! I'm assuming Regi will still be there also? (I hope not. Haven't done a Regi raid yet. Waiting for them to come out in weekly quests just to fill the dex) I don't mind the Kanto as it's better than the usual bird/rats/bugs that I see on a daily basis...plus I don't have all shiny of the ones that are out. We'll (my daughter and I) will go out a couple of days I'm sure. But really....being a wife/mom/adult my time is limited. One day things are doable. Loooong things not so much. Don't grind like we use to. Not even close.

I know this may be bold for a prediction, but EX raids were Mewtwo, which was a legendary only available via the EX raid. Now, if they do rotate Mewtwo out of the EX raids after this, I think Deoxys could be the next EX Raid since they've already done all the gen 2 legendaries and Deoxys has not shown up yet...
Doncut97 I just figured since there were two mythicals in gen 3 that Jirachi could be special research and Deoxys could be an EX. Since Deoxys has various forms, it'd be a fun way to do EX raids by randomizing which form you get to raid.
What a disappointment. Raids are just a paying feature so not really a reward. Regionals are fun until you have one if each. Gen 1 have been arround long enough.
How are raids a paying feature? You can do one a day for free and the events are both over long enough time to have several good chances also raid pass is 100 gold thats only 2 days worth of gold?
Because you can buy them in the shop. 1 free pas doesnt mean that it is a free thing. It is just a thing to get you addicted to raids ;) I cant do like a whole day of raids without buying passes if i want to grind for the good iv pokemon :(
they need to permanently double the stardust for catches. we will soon have 4 generations and about 10+ legendaries aswell, AND trading. we need multiple times more stardust than when the game was originally released...
Almost everyone is complaining about it, these rewards suck, they've rehashed the legendary birds YET AGAIN and now made Mewtwo less special than it was, they did a big Kanto event already, literally the only good thing is the gen 1 regionals in 7 km eggs

Niantic must have told them to put a positive spin on this. Becuase if you're a hardcore player, this is a LAME "Ultra" bonus. Lazy on Niantic's part. At least annouce Shiny Metwo. At least announce Deoxys as Ex-Raid exclusive. Something new.
I hope they update the ex raid system in the mean time. It became really easy to target specific gyms to trigger an ex raid pass. Like, you knew which gyms to hit and when. I know of one guy who got a pass every time raid passes went out simply because he knew when and how to target those 3 gyms on campus that would always be ex raids.

If at least it was an infinite unlock, you know? Gen 1 regionals being permanently in 7k eggs (but you have to recieve them from the region that regional appears in), old legendaries appearing in raids forver (as EXtra raids, geting a free pass for the raid at that gym) etc, etc, just so players who left the game don't fall too far behind. But temporal events like this... pretty much nope.
Have they made a distinction that indicates a "pokemon egg received from a certain stop and hatched" or a "pokemon caught on a certain place" vs a "pokemon received as gift from a certain place"? Because it is kinda sad how i legit-traveled to far places to collect mons from all over the world and the gifting system suddenly lets you "catch" pokemon from all around all suddenly. During the early stages of the gifting system, there hasnt been a distinction and i never logged in since then...
Some people just need to appreciate what they have. I play in a small community and on weekends I go to a big community. You can see the disparity in spawns/players depending where you are. Some people I know that play daily are actually catching their first lapras, tangela, hitmonchan, etc. some people just can’t get it in their heads that there is an imbalance
stephen Bridges i personally just didnt wanna go to the ex raid. Plus some areas i spoof at dont have any ex raid eligible gyms. I rarely play the game anymore so im not gonna commit myself to timeframes on it
I hate you for making us run like chickens for 3 hours on weekends for shiny birds and then release them all for a week which should have been done in a first place. I hate you for making us struggle for those ex passes and than releasing mewtwo to everyone. Why do I even play?
They didn’t “make” you do anything. You play because you get some type of enjoyment from the game. The legendary birds had exclusive moves that won’t be available again and also there is a chance mewtwo could be shiny, so chill. If you’ve played Pokémon go for this long then you know Niantic usually caters to the “casual” crowd.
Don't forget that the 3 hr Moltres raids were huge winfalls in stardust, and Articuno raids were great for xp. I only did Articuno day, because the players out that day were so damn cut throat that it's really messed up the community's image for me

Two things I like about this: Mewtwo regular Raid Boss and Gen 1 regionals in 7km eggs. Also I battled Mewtwo yesterday in the EX Raid and caught my 9th out of 9 Mewtwo.
Regionals were special for 2 years, nothing in this game should be exclusive forever. There will be other "special" things for a time being. Making everything in this game available to everyone is the right move.
I'm hyped for legendary birds, never raided one because we just got people play again in this town few weeks ago and I weren't able to play in Moltres day

Mewtwo will be here for a whole month (September 20 - October 23)! Hopefully there is some time for you to get out and battle it in raids.

Wooowwww all the butthurt in the comments is sad. I for one am super excited! Our town has only had one EX raid and I missed it we’ve never had another one! I’m super stoked to get that mewtwo and all them regionals! And second chance for shiny articuno and moltres! Do the eggs start the 13?
You would be butthurt if this "Ultra Reward" had nothing of interest. I got all the shiny birds, had to sacrifice several cool pokemon to get the three regionals I needed and worked hard to get my EX raid pass. Now it is all being given away for free. Nothing new has been added for this event, just assets they already had. I will forgive them if they release gen 4 which they have been hinting for a while now. I dont want to be negative, I have been impressed with Niantic until the two months.
Then collect multiple of each regional, so that you can use them to trade with new or returning players that miss the event
Samuronite Wars I wouldn’t be butthurt, it’s a chance to get better IVS and it’s taking regi away, I’m grateful for that. And it’s still awesome IMO. We have worked hard here trying to get an EX raid pass and nothing, so I’m stoked for this, I’m sure small town players like me are too, it’s a game, made to be enjoyed, not butthurt over cause you “worked hard”. I’ve worked hard on my raids but that was my choice, not a have to.

Some really awrsome classic raids back such as Alakazam and the birds are always cool. It is just that they teased gen 4 before the summer break and it still hasn't happened. Unless Niantic adds great box deals with cheap (half priced raid passes and incubators), the only reward will be for Niantics bank account... Don't get me wrong, i do like the options of regionals, the birds and mewtwo etc but I can only see this as a way for them to sell more raid passes and incubators because we all want the rewards etc. Sure you can keep playing for free but you won't get as much out of the rewards. + stop having it be like 30% alolan meowth, +30 alolan Sandshrew, 30% alolan diglett and 1% chance of regionals. I stopped hatching 7km eggs because it was just ridiculous the crap you recieve. Have the odds be in our favor atleast for the event time being...

This bonus is a joke for dedicated players. We have had the birds in quest and 3 hours events. Also the Kanto pokemon event has just finished. Mewtwo would be nice when the shiny form will be released.
The regionals in eggs starts from the 13th september according to the Japanse site.
This is gonna be amazing. I'm excited to hatch different 7k eggs and hopefully finally get a good Mewtwo from a raid! :)

Didn't we just do the birds? Not sure how I feel about regional in eggs. Of course I'll take them to fill the dex but I'd rather earn them vs hatch them. (personal opinion) I know many haven't gotten EX passes but I'm about as rural as you can get (half hour drive to get to a gym that is EX....I know. Lucky I can do that as an adult) but we blew off the last few because between driving/coordinating time/gas etc enough was enough for us. Since Niantic loves to announce shiny in advance doubt MewTwo is going to be shiny. (this all before watching anyone's video) Soooo everyone go out and buy passes and incubators.
Couldn't agree more with you. To me it's not like "ultra unlock"... We had the bird trio as raids in the beginning, then they returned once more (weekly raids back then), then we had in daily quests, then articuno/zapdos/moltres/ day and now....once more?!!! I mean, c'mon. I have no interest for them at all. We had Kanto event a few months back, now kanto again. I also agree that I'd like to find the regionals through trade. It's like the decrease the value of trading, to me at least. The only thing that is worth, is Mewtwo..And that, without shiny form.. At least for now....
I don't know, but the ultra unlock did not have the impact I was expecting to have.. All this is personal opinion of course. And sorry for the rant :P
P.S.: NIANTIC, AT LEAST GIVE US EVERY SHINY FORM IN GEN 1 , if you want so badly everyone to fill their pokedex !!! This way, all kinds of players can find motivation to go out for gen 1 (once more).
HA! Rant away. I'm sure we're in the minority here. I know my daughter is going to be happy about the birds as she is missing 2 shiny so there is that. I don't want/need anymore Mewtwo and I'm really not a huge raiding fan that has to be done by 3 or more people. I can't imagine what a mess all these eggs are going to be like, waiting for them to hatch to see what you get. Discord is going to be going crazy and my gas gauge is going to go down fast! I'm assuming Regi will still be there also? (I hope not. Haven't done a Regi raid yet. Waiting for them to come out in weekly quests just to fill the dex) I don't mind the Kanto as it's better than the usual bird/rats/bugs that I see on a daily basis...plus I don't have all shiny of the ones that are out. We'll (my daughter and I) will go out a couple of days I'm sure. But really....being a wife/mom/adult my time is limited. One day things are doable. Loooong things not so much. Don't grind like we use to. Not even close.

I know this may be bold for a prediction, but EX raids were Mewtwo, which was a legendary only available via the EX raid. Now, if they do rotate Mewtwo out of the EX raids after this, I think Deoxys could be the next EX Raid since they've already done all the gen 2 legendaries and Deoxys has not shown up yet...

Doncut97 I just figured since there were two mythicals in gen 3 that Jirachi could be special research and Deoxys could be an EX. Since Deoxys has various forms, it'd be a fun way to do EX raids by randomizing which form you get to raid.

What a disappointment. Raids are just a paying feature so not really a reward. Regionals are fun until you have one if each.
Gen 1 have been arround long enough.
How are raids a paying feature? You can do one a day for free and the events are both over long enough time to have several good chances also raid pass is 100 gold thats only 2 days worth of gold?
Because you can buy them in the shop. 1 free pas doesnt mean that it is a free thing. It is just a thing to get you addicted to raids ;)

Almost everyone is complaining about it, these rewards suck, they've rehashed the legendary birds YET AGAIN and now made Mewtwo less special than it was, they did a big Kanto event already, literally the only good thing is the gen 1 regionals in 7 km eggs

Niantic must have told them to put a positive spin on this. Becuase if you're a hardcore player, this is a LAME "Ultra" bonus. Lazy on Niantic's part. At least annouce Shiny Metwo. At least announce Deoxys as Ex-Raid exclusive. Something new.
I hope they update the ex raid system in the mean time. It became really easy to target specific gyms to trigger an ex raid pass. Like, you knew which gyms to hit and when. I know of one guy who got a pass every time raid passes went out simply because he knew when and how to target those 3 gyms on campus that would always be ex raids.

Gen 1 regionals being permanently in 7k eggs (but you have to recieve them from the region that regional appears in), old legendaries appearing in raids forver (as EXtra raids, geting a free pass for the raid at that gym) etc, etc, just so players who left the game don't fall too far behind. But temporal events like this... pretty much nope.

Have they made a distinction that indicates a "pokemon egg received from a certain stop and hatched" or a "pokemon caught on a certain place" vs a "pokemon received as gift from a certain place"? Because it is kinda sad how i legit-traveled to far places to collect mons from all over the world and the gifting system suddenly lets you "catch" pokemon from all around all suddenly.
During the early stages of the gifting system, there hasnt been a distinction and i never logged in since then...

Some people just need to appreciate what they have. I play in a small community and on weekends I go to a big community. You can see the disparity in spawns/players depending where you are. Some people I know that play daily are actually catching their first lapras, tangela, hitmonchan, etc. some people just can’t get it in their heads that there is an imbalance

They didn’t “make” you do anything. You play because you get some type of enjoyment from the game. The legendary birds had exclusive moves that won’t be available again and also there is a chance mewtwo could be shiny, so chill. If you’ve played Pokémon go for this long then you know Niantic usually caters to the “casual” crowd.
Don't forget that the 3 hr Moltres raids were huge winfalls in stardust, and Articuno raids were great for xp. I only did Articuno day, because the players out that day were so damn cut throat that it's really messed up the community's image for me

I can understand people who already have 10-20 Mewtwo's, they are not so excited anymore about the Mewtwo raids, unless Niantic includes the shiny form.
Two things I like about this: Mewtwo regular Raid Boss and Gen 1 regionals in 7km eggs.
Also I battled Mewtwo yesterday in the EX Raid and caught my 9th out of 9 Mewtwo.

Regionals were special for 2 years, nothing in this game should be exclusive forever. There will be other "special" things for a time being. Making everything in this game available to everyone is the right move.
