One of the sad thing about the incident is it's not really a situation where we could pick sides. Yes it's not really Night's fault, but we really can't fault Day for his resentment because at the end of the day, even if Night is drowning in guilt, Day is the who lost his vision and his whole life.
Mhok breaks down not because of Day's blindness. He is overwhelmed that Mhok's face is the last thing that Day wants to see.
