- Last weekend the ice was finally thick enough for us to go ice skating again, something that used to be possible every winter here. but with the years.. it more or less became a novelty. so when the opportunity arises, the Dutch drop everything and grab their skates! or in our case: Ice Skating Like It's 1835!
Our friend Corina from @Crienoline invited us over to go ice skating on a pond near her house with beautiful surroundings. But with ice, also comes the cold... Brrrrr

Beautiful! How lovely to see you skating in your period clothing. Crawling under the fence made me giggle
It definitely made us giggle too😅
Very Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates, Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas ♥️
This channel is so nerdy and I love it. When I am older I want to be like that too
Oh, thank you. When I was much younger, half a century or so ago, we used to ice skate on the creek down the hill from my G-ma's house. A local farmer would bring a small tractor and clear snow from the ice by the dam. An older neighbor said they used to be able to skate to the next town, about 7 miles away.
Oh yeah! That definitely was the case here as well! We had an event called the 11 stedentocht (11 city run) where you would skate through 11 city’s. I can’t remember when they had the last one
Oh that was wonderful. It's currently 30 degrees here in sunny Melbourne, Australia.
That sounds nice too😎
Such a beautiful and picturesque video! Thanks for taking us along via vlog. I've never gotten to skate on natural ice. It doesn't get cold enough where I live, but it is a dream of mine to do so. The idea of the ice cracking does make me concerned though.
So we’re we😬🧊
Love it! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching ♥️
Loved this! Thank you!
Thank you♥️
That was great, thank you! I could hear the ice cracking, OMG! Happy Holidays ❄❄❄☃
Happy holidays♥️
Loved it
Thank you ♥️
Such a neat video! I loved seeing you all skate and the ice cracking definitely raised the stakes! Haha! Happy holidays to you all and thanks for the fun video! Great outfits, too!
Thank you for watching and happy holidays ♥️
this was soooo lovely. my heart is warm xxxxx
☺️♥️
Melchior, that ice cracking underneath you was rather terrifying! Also, I kind of feel like from the end there that they didn't want you to skate there? 😉
Haha! The fence is more to keep the animals in😅 but they weren’t out in the files cause of the cold
It's been so long since I was skating on natural ice - think almost 20 years ago. The temperature just isn't stable enough anymore around where I live and in our lakes you can definitely drown. It was fun watching you go around. Loved the look at the mussel tracks, I haven't seen that before :)
Oh yes, I definitely don’t like to go over deep water, and only skate over water where I can stand incase I do fall through the ice
That was awesome! Thank you. And, happy holidays! ☃❄
Thank you for watching! Happy holidays ♥️
Oh😅
We have a canal in our backyard here in the netherlands and it froze over but i unfortunately didn't have the time to skate and make photos before it unfroze.
Oh no I’m sorry😩
En nu warme choco!
♥️🍫
