@@davephillips8339 Most V-8 valve covers are a simple rectangle the 348 and 409's had a distinctive shape that you can see illustrated well in this picture. Don't know if there is a specific term for it but they always looked like knuckles to me with the triple lobes at the bottom.
The sample used in the song is an old folk song about john henry. Most song versions don't have this bit in it but it is part of the original folk song. Most modern version is john henry by Bruce Springsteen

Actually Slug is the emcee from Atmosphere and Aesop Rock is his own emcee. I could see where you might get confused since Aesop Rock worked on the last Felt album with Slug and Murs but Slug and Aesop are 2 entirely different people. And T.O.N.E.Z sounds nothing like Slug. Both are extremely great artists in their own respect but can't be compared to each other in any way shape or form.

Those valve covers indicate either a Chevy 348 or 409 cuin. Great old hot rod motors but had oiling problems under high rpm's.

Given that it has 3 carbs,it's probably a 348. No 409 ever came with 3 carbs. Both are "W" engines and look alike.

Engine is a Chevy 409 from the early 1960's. They had very distinguishable shaped heads on them.
