Fascinating stuff. Crazy to think some of that rolling stock has been in and out of service since I was a young adult. Also remember travelling on one of the first HSTs back in 1976 when they first came into service in the Southwest. Also love the way you point out the really interesting older unit at the end of the video and then immediately pan away so we don't get to see it but then I guess that's part of your unique style!
Haha I remember the Leyland National derived 142s first appearing on the Doncaster - Leeds service when they were painted cream with a green stripe along the side - like a Pacer mint! I first visited the MRC when Peter Sansome had just bought 55015, that was before the line was operational. Been many times since for Diesel galas, Indietracks festival and the Road and Rail rally. Unfortunately it has suffered from vandalism over the years and hasn't fully recovered after the deprivation brought about by the covid years. Lets hope it can return to how it used to be soon.
Takes me back to a DMU trip to Skeg in the early 90s. It was one of the last 1st gen ones left. There's a new charity trying to save a Class 60. Worthwhile I think. Where in South Wales are you from? My dad was from Cwmbran
Vandalised ! That's the problem as soon as the school holidays approach it's every train for itself ☹️

At least the model railway is on time 😅🤸🙃🤸😄
We had Pacers on Northern Rail. Mate of mine called them ‘Nodding Donkeys’ for their habit of bouncing around a lot.
Reminds me of St Trinian's Great train robbery and Frankie Howard "Yes beat them democratically officer ! "😅

Great video. Didn’t know you grew up in S.Wales where exactly? cos I’m from Merthyr Tydfil and used to watch the trains all the time.
Another good video👏👏👏👏👏👏
