Robert Greene is a major genius. His book MASTERY was one of the most fascinating books I've ever read. I didn't actually read it, I listened to the audible version which was magnificent. Thank you Robert Greene, for being who you are and for sharing your genius with us.
This year, I have read The 48 Laws Of Power, The Art Of Seduction, and The Laws Of Human Nature. All three were excellent books that helped me understand myself and others better. Thank you for the relentless research, time, and energy you put into the three books I have read of yours so far. I am really looking forward to reading the remaining books in your collection next year. From one writer to another: WELL DONE!!! 👏👏👏
When I was over doing empathy I felt like I was going to cry all the time! I didn't understand how all these people were harassing me when I was "trying to be the change I wish to see in the world." The sad thing is that those people who have assaulted me don't use this wonderful tool. It makes everything so brighter! Like you said this is something that needs to be built and practiced. It's so sad that they may never see the world in an empathic way! Down with victimization! Let's continue to be the change we wish to see the world by spreading empathy! Allah bless you all!
I'd love to hear more about "infection". I believe my problem in my childhood was being stuck in an auto-introjective state. Growing up I recall a general distrust/disdain toward introversion. It was something that needed to be forced out of children, and if you were an introverted adult, there was something wrong with you. It was looked on with suspicion. Emotional display and extraversion were the healthy way to be, and "showing" care, prying empathy from others was habitual and "normal" behavior. So yes, "empathy" can be toxic, even pathological.
Seeing this on 23rd Aug, 23. The night when I realised that my mother is not empathetic towards me. Forget compassion! I wish she changed her heart for me and sees my excessively communicated pain. I'm 25 and petrified of my life and I just need my mum right now. She's here and still not. I'm so far gone. I hope my mum loves me back the way she should. I'm not writing this for someone else but just me. So, you can go on with your life! :)
I feel you, I’ve gone through the same feelings as you. My mom ended up abandoning me and my brother emotionally, and then physically, when she literally picked up and left our family to live in France with her new husband, with whom she cheated on my stepdad of 15 years with. Her birthday is on august 23. What I had to realize on my own is that none of the trauma she put on me is my fault, and then I finally felt the unconditional love that the universe gives you if you accept it’s love. You realize that when you love yourself, you can feel the love coming from all directions because we are connected to the universe, and the natural state of the universe is love and creation. I hope that makes sense. I really know how you feel and the only way I could heal was having the realization that everything my mother caused me to feel is not my fault because it was her responsibility to show me love and empathy. However it is my responsibility to find the love in myself without trying to earn it from anything. I’m wishing you strength and sending you love 🫶🏾
We are so lucky that we are living at a time Mr. Green is living. He not only knows what he speaks but also know how to put accross what he knows so effortlessly. The Master wins with apparently no effort. -Sun Tzu
There is this general idea that the purpose of life is to be happy, but I think that is a very small part of the world. To have some sense of what others are experiencing sounds so much more enriching.
That word empath is ridiculous. Some of the coldest people who have no empathy call themselves that. Probably trying to convince themselves and others they are human and care for others. 😅
Law #2 in the laws of human nature is to turn self-love into empathy. The superpower tip to do this is to become interested in the other person. Put yourself in their shoes and it will be super easy to empathize. If you combine this by confirming to their self opinion, they will like you even more and feel like you understand them.
I was astounded reading Nietzsche about listening to Bach: Mathäus Passion "Who does not cry when listening to that has no Heart" the sudden outburst uncontrollable I am a German Rescue Swimmer and I jump into the water to save a person from drowning or prevent a bad thing
To your last point, psychologists and others make this distinction to people who are or become empaths. In that state, the empath loses their selves to the other. The toxic person, the narcissistic, sociopathic, or borderline, is naturally attracted to the empath because they can be adsorbed into their way of thinking.
Unfortunately due to neurodivergence empathy is hard to access. I think all humans have the potential but without practice it isn’t unattainable! Ty Robert
If you have neurodivergence there is absolutely no hope for you to gain anything from watching these videos, as that would require correctly assessing social situations in the first place to apply these principles.
Note the difference between empathy and sympathy. Empathy is not a common state of being. In essence, empathy is the ability to feel, or sense something another person is feeling or experiencing. Thereby, producing a connection between two or more people on an emotional, or energetic level. On the other hand.. Sympathy is merely the ability to ‘relate’ to, or understand something another person is experiencing. Some empaths have not learned how to separate themselves, and their feelings from the feelings of other people. If I may suggest a protective measure for actual empaths. Learning to protect your energy is key. Practice selective empathy. Yes. As Me. Green said, empathy is “a muscle”. Therefore…Empathy can be ‘turned off’, or an energetic guard/ wall can put up in order to make sure your energy isn’t being tapped into by someone else, and you are not inadvertently tapping into other people’s emotions. Learning how to recognize what emotions are actually ‘yours’ v. taking on the emotions of other persons. Choose wisely where you invest your energy. Quality over quantity. If not, burn out is waiting on the horizon for you.

I think the people who have the greatest natural ability to understand humans are people who are naturally either very narcissistic, or naturally very empathetic. Both have the ability to see underneath the masks that we all wear. This is just my opinion.
Devolopmental Psychology found out, that kids around 4 start to be able to change perspective. They realize (for the first time) that if you sit opposite of them, your perspective of an object (between you and the kid) might have a different view. Yes, exactly. It's all programmatic and automated, plus it's relatively much easier to set up and connect my accounts than creating a financial plan and drafting investment strategies myself, my account just mirrors her trades in realtime.
I love that this video about Empathy begins with the Goldberg Variations, which is the same music Hannibal Lecter used when he ate those guards in his jail cell - my head is still spinning lol - fascinating video
Empathy is my superpower, I usually can feel the viewpoints of those I disagree with. Nothing bothers me more than when I cannot empathize with someone. Usually it’s a profoundly different mindset, like a sociopath, addict, or mentally ill person.
Great Robert Sir. I am from one of the Worst Maternal families in India. We grew up in a Joint family but most of them are bitches. They used to spread negative vibes for me and fir my father, after got married they tried to do it with my wife but we parted with them before things got worse. Now I am living a happy life getting along with my father , wife and my Kid. Now I realize that your words are very true when i think of my experiences in that toxic family.

Robert I understood your concept of seduction But whenever I go in front of my crush I start talking about myself and then later on I understand the mistake I've made Please tell us how to stop talking about ourselves,is there any way to do it
Ok, but it's always about balance. If u feel too much about the exterior, you can stay in others energy and borrow behavior till that point that I forget about ur self.b

Off topic but Bach’s BWV 988 playing in the background is so hilarious to me (for the fact it’s associated with NBC’s Hannibal, main character having hyper-empathy and all)
Robert, I read and finished art of seduction and now I’m dating a girl who I would have considered waaaaaay out of my league before I read it. Thank you very much for all your work. I am currently reading art of mastery and I’m confident something just as good if not better will come after I finish that!!❤❤❤❤

Oh well, dear Robert, where were you when I started out on this journey called life decades ago? Would’ve been so much easier with you along for more of the ride… 😢
Man you must be an actual realist Robert, because it so easy to forget the obvious right? But how do you actually know reality? Maybe simply.youve stared back at the abyss longer... thank you for sharing your thoughts on this empathy
Everyone has empathy, it's a feeling like everything else, some just decide blocking it out, while some are overreacting to pat themselves on their back, also those people tend to call themselves empaths like it's their whole nature, lmao...
yeah well.... I alienised some good friends by more or less reading their minds... So they fear to trust me and it hurts... and I think they fear I might judge them. I dont know exactly but I have a hard time to get close again out of fear they will reject me.... just stupid
Empathy is not visceral. It’s also cognitive. Very important to correct his interpretation. It’s over simplified and doesn’t reflect the latest research. It’s an opinion
Mr Greene , thanks for this one. Pls how do I regulate myself from feeling every bit of emotion people around me are carrying. Its exhausting because they are mostly negative.
It’s actually a cognitive and emotional process. He has an opinion that happens to be counter to the latest research. Sympathy is not empathy at all. Nice interpretation but science scientifically wide of the mark, if that matters at all.
It's weird but fr walking around irl I can relate the most to people with disabilities. When I seem nothing like them more than half the time. Cause conventionally, I would imagine that when someone disabled is attempting to do something significant, they would be treated the same as I would. I feel that people around me only feel empathy when they see others either do as much or have the same ability as they themselves do (I don't even think that's empathy LOL) .That gives me strength. Cause I know that they won't be as nice or rather reveal who they actually are when someone goes out of their way to do something that lives up to a standard that deems some form of significance.
I personally have a natural tendency to feel empathy towards people who show empathy towards others. The reverse is also true : i feel very little of it towards those who have very little or none towards others , especially if they abuse the goodness of kind people.
I consider those unempathtic people as disabled . Spiritually disabled . They know no better and they are missing out on so much blessings . For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust. ... That ye may be the children of your Father who is in heaven: ...Mathew 5.45
Unless they talk and do very clear signs of emotions. It's very hard for me to understand ppls emotions. I try to understand cognitively how they feel..then I try to read about what they feel and help them accordingly. It's not easy for all ppl to read micro gestures or guess someone's emotions. Unfortunately
My empathy alerted me to your health maybe not too great right now and wanting to clear your illness from here. My mind reading let me know that it might not be a good idea, and possibly swine/bird hybrid viruses aren't something im prepared to deal with
I think it’s more imagining what could have happened to him that caused him so much suffering that he ended up doing those things. Humans are not inherently antisocial, so we necessarily must be abused in order to become monsters. But even if it was possible for a human to be born antisocial, that wouldn’t be their fault. Nobody chooses their genetics, or really any other circumstances of their existence.

By following her trades do you mean copying her trades? I have heard about copying trades
Robert it seems really clearly that you love the goodness for everyone, i'm so glad i knew you in my vacation this summer, i can say it is the best achievement i made in my summer vacation this year may god give you all what you wish and desire! all the respect from Saudi Arabia
Bach's Aria is absolutyely delightful
Actions
Not just feelings and sympathising
Empathy is the easiest way to understand someone.
Yes. Good mic.
I call him Doctor Greene, because he really is like a doctor when you read his books
Robert
I understood your concept of seduction
But whenever I go in front of my crush I start talking about myself and then later on I understand the mistake I've made
Please tell us how to stop talking about ourselves,is there any way to do it
Maybe it's happening to me bcoz one of my friend is competing with me over her
The laws of human nature and the 48 laws of power changed my life!
biggest takeaway from each book?
Could you please give an example of how a certain law changed what part of your life?
Ok, but it's always about balance. If u feel too much about the exterior, you can stay in others energy and borrow behavior till that point that I forget about ur self.b
If you remember your astral projections as a baby, your previous deaths. You’re an empati! And yes I am one.. I’ve seen, felt & read energy througout my entire life. ❤❤❤
finally these vids have music
Off topic but Bach’s BWV 988 playing in the background is so hilarious to me (for the fact it’s associated with NBC’s Hannibal, main character having hyper-empathy and all)
Robert sir love from India I respect you and your writing you are ideal person for us
I wonder if my empathetic muscle is too strong, I've been labeled as too sensitive, how to manage that area then?
Robert, I read and finished art of seduction and now I’m dating a girl who I would have considered waaaaaay out of my league before I read it. Thank you very much for all your work. I am currently reading art of mastery and I’m confident something just as good if not better will come after I finish that!!❤❤❤❤
I have empathy nd I also have a cousin that’s toxic but she’s alr to me js not other ppl nd I always feel bad for dem like it literally feels like I’m dem
Oh well, dear Robert, where were you when I started out on this journey called life decades ago? Would’ve been so much easier with you along for more of the ride… 😢
Is there a tutorial for developing empathy?
If you are here, you are already an empathetic person.
Can you tell my wife this lol
Robert sir ❤
Your books and lectures changed my life thankyou
Man you must be an actual realist Robert, because it so easy to forget the obvious right? But how do you actually know reality? Maybe simply.youve stared back at the abyss longer... thank you for sharing your thoughts on this empathy
❤❤❤
Everyone has empathy, it's a feeling like everything else, some just decide blocking it out, while some are overreacting to pat themselves on their back, also those people tend to call themselves empaths like it's their whole nature, lmao...
Best writer 👍👍👍
as always, Robert Greene's books and videos are so critical for daily lives.. thank you so much, Mr. Greene!
yeah well.... I alienised some good friends by more or less reading their minds... So they fear to trust me and it hurts... and I think they fear I might judge them. I dont know exactly but I have a hard time to get close again out of fear they will reject me.... just stupid
It’s tough if you don’t have the same empathy bone in your body like everyone else 🦴
I don’t believe it. You just have to awaken it.
Empathy is not visceral. It’s also cognitive. Very important to correct his interpretation. It’s over simplified and doesn’t reflect the latest research. It’s an opinion
So well said
Thank you for this video Mr. Robert.
This is amazing. Thank you Robert
Robert, what do you think about the new Napoleon movie?
Everyday I thank God that for your teachings
what do you think about a person who says: I don't like children?
All book lovers have empathy, I think it’s impossible to enjoy a book without empathy
Anatomy of human body. My surgeon siblings enjoy science hooks without any empathy.
But what if one of my favorite authors is John Douglas? 🤷🏻♂️
Hey Robert,
Why don't you try to read the ancient Indian books and share your thoughts on it? Like Thirukural in Tamilnadu
My tution teacher gives me similar advice like you sir, I like you both ❤
Empathy=weakness. Change my mind
Very smart! Love this!
Mr Greene , thanks for this one. Pls how do I regulate myself from feeling every bit of emotion people around me are carrying. Its exhausting because they are mostly negative.
Ahhh I feel you! Means we need to extra care of ourselves right?
Imagine if 48 Laws was required reading in high school.
Just imagining who they are...
I don't care for empathy. It's a pain in the ass
why would we want to do that? Are you going to help the problem? At the end of the day?
did you ask for their consent?
❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍There are two anomalies in this world
Robert Greene and lionel Messi
🌷🌷🌷🤝🤝🤝
Are you feeling us?
Just finished reading the 48 laws of power again
My empathy alerted me to your health maybe not too great right now and wanting to clear your illness from here. My mind reading let me know that it might not be a good idea, and possibly swine/bird hybrid viruses aren't something im prepared to deal with
I don't agree at all. You can have sympathy for someone but to be TRULY empathetic you yourself must have experienced the suffering yourself!!
The thing is you can kinda imagine what it felt like and that triggers the emotions in you
Theoratically ok
But it is not something you learn
Trying to sympathize with Genghis khan is absurd to me. "I wonder what he felt like as he was eating babies and rapping women"
You do not develope it
You just are
To Kill a Mockingbird taught me that when she was thinking about what the albino ghost fella was up to all day...big shoes to fill she said
TRUMPISM? How can Trumpsters be reached, with empathy?
There must be a way to connect with the Right and save the nation?

did you pay these.. people?
