If you live in one of those counties that still needs emissions testing, it means nothing changes for you. You still have to take your car to the inspection station and get the emissions test (check engine light, air bag light) etc. They just don't check your lights or tires. Currently, inspections are mandated by law to be only $18.50. If you are paying more than that, you're being defrauded and you should report the inspection station to have their license revoked.
In January, most people will no longer get any inspection and pay 7 dollars extra for a renewal, saving themselves $11.50 overall plus time spent waiting for the inspection.
Counties that still do emissions inspection are mandated by law to charge only $7.50 for that inspection. Again if you pay more, report them so their license can be revoked. Those people will also be charged 7 dollars more on renewal, saving only 4 dollars from previously and still having to wait for an inspection.

I remember when this state inspection started and it’s always been a tax scam on the people of Texas. The state inspection was to reduce the amount of carbon in our air quality. All over Texas I see large pick up trucks, semis and other vehicles rolling coal, modifying their exhaust to blow out dark black smoke which is very dangerous. So here we are with the state still taxing certain counties but less regulations for a majority of the state. Instead of raising the price for registration which is another scam. I shouldn’t have to register my car each year just like I don’t have to renew my DL each year. It’s my car. Every 5 years I understand but I don’t even have to register my G each year. The laws are created by dump people and we need to elect smarter people to run our state. Regulations is to protect the people from companies who do us hard and do not care. Each year millions of people globally D because of poor air quality. All humans and animals need clean air, clean water. Why are we electing people who will reduce regulations for something we all need to live? Do you NOT care about your children’s lives? State inspections was to protect us but for the past 20 years it’s been a money grab by the state.

I noticed that no one here has any stickers on their windshields. So I finally asked a local gas station and MVD where people put their inspection stickers and to my amazement, it was explained that there is no such program here. That was 43 years ago, and to this day, there is no such thing. I recall in Texas, when I would get my car inspected, they would ALWAYS find the need to align my headlights and charge extra for it. It's about time Texas finally decided to stop the scam. BTW, I loved it so much better here I never moved back.

@@safaricartvideos Yeah, I also do not like super dark tints even when legally allowed, because it does limit visibility so much. A good ceramic 35-50% tint on the driver and rear windows really drastically reduces the heat load in the car, and keeps the people safer from UV rays. I would just like to put a 75% or higher (basically almost clear) tint on the front windshield to block as much UVA/UVB as possible. Without routine inspections looking for it, the odds of a police encounter specific to it with my minivan (haven't been pulled over in 20+ years) are very low, and the overall lack of tint on it does not affect visibility at all, even at night.

The $7 Safety part of the test suppose to have a State licensed inspector to check your vehicle if your car is road worthy; i.e: all brake lights, turn signal, headlamps, tires, windshield, wiper blades, mirrors, horn and more - are operating up to standard.
And ppl complained for the pettiest things.
The emissions test will not go away because… well …. It’s an emissions standard. Don’t want your car polluting and burning irregular gas. How do they check? The check engine light tells the computer desk that it has it on. Even if you cleared codes or “hide” the light away, computers don’t lie.

The cost of inspection just went into the pockets of the government, and we now have to pay an additional inspection fee labled emissions.
The government is doing we the people wrong again. Yet you keep putting these criminals into office. Hopefully, they will follow the laws and do good for your towns. 😅😂😂😂

Inspections are a scam. You have to pass the inspection one day out of the year, the next day your car can become unsafe to drive or you can remove your catalytic converter or something.

diesel and electric get a pass in those counties since we never did emissions anyway

So the most populous counties in Texas have to emission test. But like others have said, those who don’t care won’t get it done anyway. Waste

Emissions test are the hardest one to pass, the safety inspection was litterally nothing

Why is it the blue locations push for separate but equal nonsense? Why are counties enforcing emesions when there is a federal agency for that already? Why dose our legislatures remove the counties from this looking over ur shoulder policies?

    This is insane.
Balding tires prone to popping ESPECIALLY in texas heat.
Bad brakes you can hear squealing up and down the street
Busted headlights so a pedestrian could potentially be mowed over.🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏽🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏿‍♂️
For those not interested in human decency and only care about money, think about all the job losses and reduction in staff coming soon. Not to mention the sky high insurance we'll have to pay because don't think these companies aren't paying attention 🔍
Bad cars on the road lead to more accidents and that leads to higher insurance rates🤧

Pretty sure they can set up inspections checkpoints (like dui checkpoints) think Washington state has it, no inspections but they can set up a checkpoint and pull cars over and inspect them ,

Iowa did away with state inspections, because it was determined that it was simply a way for car repair shops to “shake down” drivers. If they recommended something be “repaired”, you had little choice but to go along. However, the state tacking on another fee for the non-inspection does seem shady!
