I noticed that no one here has any stickers on their windshields. So I finally asked a local gas station and MVD where people put their inspection stickers and to my amazement, it was explained that there is no such program here. That was 43 years ago, and to this day, there is no such thing. I recall in Texas, when I would get my car inspected, they would ALWAYS find the need to align my headlights and charge extra for it. It's about time Texas finally decided to stop the scam. BTW, I loved it so much better here I never moved back.
Arizona hasa very comprehensive emissions test for residents and commuters in Phoenix and Tucson area, with fees higher than the $7.50 that will be charged in counties in Texas. The AZ testing is more than just an ODB II test, too. They test tailpipe emissions under load or certain driving conditions.
I'm tinting my windshield, that's for sure. Just a little bit but man it helps so much to have a good ceramic tint for heat reduction in the car. Good tint can block a ton of heat even if the tint is not very dark.

@@safaricartvideos Yeah, I also do not like super dark tints even when legally allowed, because it does limit visibility so much. A good ceramic 35-50% tint on the driver and rear windows really drastically reduces the heat load in the car, and keeps the people safer from UV rays. I would just like to put a 75% or higher (basically almost clear) tint on the front windshield to block as much UVA/UVB as possible. Without routine inspections looking for it, the odds of a police encounter specific to it with my minivan (haven't been pulled over in 20+ years) are very low, and the overall lack of tint on it does not affect visibility at all, even at night.

Drivers will save at least 4 dollars per year in counties with emissions testing, and 11.50 a year in countries without it. Yes, it's all about the money.
For those wondering, other than Texas nationwide there are 16 other states without inspections. The rest have a mix of inspections and emission testing.
The basis of this law is because ppl were complaining how inconvenient and annoying it was. The $7 Safety part of the test suppose to have a State licensed inspector to check your vehicle if your car is road worthy; i.e: all brake lights, turn signal, headlamps, tires, windshield, wiper blades, mirrors, horn and more - are operating up to standard. And ppl complained for the pettiest things. The emissions test will not go away because… well …. It’s an emissions standard. Don’t want your car polluting and burning irregular gas. How do they check? The check engine light tells the computer desk that it has it on. Even if you cleared codes or “hide” the light away, computers don’t lie. So yeah. No more safety inspections. Only ~$20 for emissions tests and the $7 goes into the total bill when you BUY the sticker registration renewal.
Thank you for a clear statement. You’re right computers don’t lie. I’m not a fan of safety inspections but I understand the need because too many people can’t be trusted to maintain their vehicles. As for emissions standards I am absolutely in favor of trying to keep pollution to a minimum. I want my grandkids to have a place to live that doesn’t look like mars.
Stop spreading misinformation. The law mandates the cost of inspection. Currently $18.50, and emissions only after Jan 1 will be only $7.50. Read the law and speak the truth.

Most cars sold in America are considered ultra-low emission vehicles. Politicians made this happen, and now the same policy makers are taking money for vehicles NOT getting inspected.
Let this sink in, they are still pushing emissions on newer cars and trucks to help combat pollution, but once your car or truck reaches 25 years old they become emissions exempt and cars from the 60's and older never had any emissions equipment or were required to get any. If cars and trucks create all the pollution they claim they do why would older cars and trucks not need it or become exempt?

So I finally asked a local gas station and MVD where people put their inspection stickers and to my amazement, it was explained that there is no such program here. That was 43 years ago, and to this day, there is no such thing. I recall in Texas, when I would get my car inspected, they would ALWAYS find the need to align my headlights and charge extra for it. It's about time Texas finally decided to stop the scam. BTW, I loved it so much better here I never moved back.
They are not really stopping the scam.. they are just consolidating it.
Indiana did away with it as well and my friends there think it's crazy we haven't.
I'm guessing lots of super dark tint will be installed on front windows now. Cops can still give ticket, but no more failed inspection.
I'm tinting my windshield, that's for sure. Just a little bit but man it helps so much to have a good ceramic tint for heat reduction in the car. Good tint can block a ton of heat even if the tint is not very dark.
@@brassmuleabsolutely. I just have the brow on mine but went from 35% to 15% on every window but the windshield and it’s made a ton of difference. Idk about the whole front windshield yet but the brow does help a bit.
Remember, the government doesn't like competition. Have you seen the absolutely opaque windows of every cop car?
@@brassmule I had to remove my front tint during insp. in TX, I did myself (cheap tint) and it was very/too dark, so I wasn't upset, I was just trying to block heat but, I couldn't see out at night. I went to a pro and got "close enough to legal" ceramic tint and it is really nice. I don't feel any heat from outside on my arm. He was pushing doing the windshield but it wasn't cheap and I'm picky about having windshield very clean. Now I see video of Too Apree getting hassled for it and I'm glad I didn't (cop says it's illegal in all states). Windshield is far enough away from my head the AC can keep me from feeling the heat. I do have the "brow" done darker than legal but they just made me trim higher during that same insp. so now not any better than visors.

@@sherwinstaudt1881 Technically, yes. The stipulation is, that if you're using it to conduct commerce, then you have to have it.
Last time I went for an inspection, guy said "everything work?" I said yes, and he signed off. These inspections don't do what you think they do.
