- In this video, Biology Professor (Twitter: @DrWhitneyHolden) reviews the important distinctions between the four different types of flu, including classification systems, propensity to cause human epidemics and pandemics, mutation rates, use in vaccine, host range, the functions of hemagglutinin and neuraminidase, spillover into humans from other species, and more! This one is really jam packed. :)
I am glad to see new videos from this channel!
It’s been awhile. 😃
@@BiologyProfessor can we know how you lost your weight glad to see you fit .

Really good please keep doing the good work.
That's the plan! :)
Welcome professor
Thanks
Thank you professor :)
Thank you for your content!
Any chance you could update/sort your microbiology playlist so one can just watch the playlist without skipping videos? I think most of the videos are in the right order, but some videos just don't seem to be in the right position.
Thanks for the tip! I’m in the process of reorganizing all of my playlists so their order is a bit more reasonable.
All my family has the Flu type A.. Body aches, fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea..We were all given Tamiflu.. 3 weeks ago we were all sick with the Flu and we had..Sore throats, nasal infections, fever, chills, body aches, trouble breathing.. This time our flu is different then 3 weeks ago..
Thnks a lot mam!
Plzz make video lecture on Ecosystem 😊
I like how you are teach
I AM THE BIGGEST FAN OF BIOLOGY PROFESSOR. In this video why have you (admin) kept speed high?
Kept speed high? What do you mean?
@@BiologyProfessor speed of this video is 1.5 which should hv been normally 1
The video is at normal 100% speed for me, though I am maybe talking a bit fast (trying to finish the video before my baby woke up from nap!). Maybe check your settings and see if your view speed has been set to 1.5 on your computer?
@@BiologyProfessor it is ok Ma'am 🙏😊😊😊
thank you
Love 🥰 your video from india
H & N Are different Antigens , right
Correct !
Hemagglutinins (HA) are viral surface glycoproteins that got their name from the fact that influenza virus has the capacity to hemagglutinate fowl & chicken RBCs IN VITRO .
Actually that is achieved through binding of (HA) to a surface carbohydrate residue on either fowl RBCs or human host cells called SIALIC ACID .
That sialic acid has another chemical name called ( N- acetyl NEURAMINIC ACID) & new viral copies to be released from the cells after replication need to DETACH their hemagglutinins from the sialic acid residues bound to them in the budding vesicle membrane .
So the other viral surface proteins neuraminidases (NA) come into action to catalyze the breakdown of the N- acetyl NEURAMINIC ACID (sialic acid) residues & set the new viral copies free to reinfect other cells . Hence the name NEURAMINIDASES !

What are the sources of influenza type B
Generally other humans. It could also theoretically be transmitted by seals.

I am starting to dip my toes into ecology. I have a new playlist here - ruclips.net/p/PLjMo-ys5HQIaHoCKb4QI97AEX_dMR0pWp
Ma'am have you losted weight..?
You haven’t posted in a few months. Hope you’re ok and will post some new videos soon. New sub here. Just found your channel tonight.
Yeah, doing fine. :) Just busy with life. It’s hard to find time to film these days. Good luck subbing! 👍🏻
@@BiologyProfessor Great content and speaking style! Not rote at all. And if you do make more content in the future, it'll definitely be welcomed.
type D hahaha
I though the HA was hyaluroric acid D:
HA stands for many things, including hyaluronic acid and hemagglutinin, so don’t feel bad: acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/HA
You are very beautiful professor
You become very thin 🖤
Low carb / keto diet
@@BiologyProfessor I think, now you may have left keto diet... you're looking little fat than before...
I had a baby. That causes some weight gain.
@@BiologyProfessor I got it....btw you're doing great job....keep it up
