For anyone still wondering 4 years later:
The original creator did not lose any files in a fire. That never happened. He is also still very much alive.
He simply had a lot of things going on in his life and moved on from Portal 2. He wrote that in the comments of the Part 7 reupload in the Steam Workshop and opened up a discussion on that map where anyone can download all the files including all previous parts, all models and the complete storyline.
He did this so maybe someday someone might finish this series because he won't simply because he doesn't have the motivation for it and moved on. That's it.
Can you tell me what the full story was? Because the link to the files that have the story notes in them doesn’t seem to work. It says that it’s been deleted, so I can’t find out for myself.

Hey everyone, I'm aware that the creator can't make a Part 8 because of a fire that burned all his files (or at least that's what the sources say), but since everyone wants to know what happens next, has anyone made a written Fanfic about a continuation? A fan story about what happens to the protagonist and the broken turret right after Part 7. That would be very interesting. And since it's a fan work, it wouldn't affect the canon of this game.

[Also sorry for the bad English, i wrote this comment a year ago at this point, but my English really improved in that "little" time.]
Although I have a new fast computer, this chamber takes multiple minutes to load, instead of like 2 to 3 seconds. Even hitting escape to skip to next chamber takes forever.

Did you watch part 1?
Do you know that you do some things not intended way?
When you get combo-gun, exit trough office and portal straight to exit.
Also, that music in the end isn't supposed to continue playing after you destroy those "scanner" things (they actually turn into red field and try to kill you).
There are also TONS of easter eggs on this map. If you have portal 2, you MUST play it youself to see how it's supposed to go.
Maybe that's because of the mod's poor map design.
@@redkyten Nah, I most of that things are impossible during normal playtrough. Also, this map is awesome!
@@valoch3187 don't get me wrong. The map really looks cool and a lot of effort was put into it for sure.
But I've never played it and even looking at this (where I don't have to figure out what to do myself) makes me confused.
Compare that for example to original Portal 2 campaign, where you always know what to do at the first glance, everything feels fluid etc. :/
@@redkyten Making players confused is what puzzles are :D.
IMHO, Portal/2 is too linear (opinions may vary is it good or bad) and easy because it is almost always obvious what to do. PS: Mel and some workshop stuff like this one, The Lone Future Starter and some others compensates that for me.
If game is ONLY about puzzles (not execution) and they are easy, game itself is easy too. Like portal/2 are. Don't wanna say that ther aren't enjoyable, but let's be honest, they are easy. Aperture Tag tries to make execution part harder, but I don't like way they do so. PS: Mel features hard yet enjoyable puzzles, which is the reason why I like it more than official portal games.
This mod is something unique: each map features something completely new, like if every portal/half-life charpters were compressed to one map. Puzzles almost always require to think with new things eack time: portals, gravity, turret friend, gels, access cards, trains, crates, bombs, bombers, fireballs… who knows what goes next?

This is a lie. The original creator explained everything in the Part 7 reupload in the workshop and gave all the files of the previous maps, all models and the complete storyline up for download.
Anyone can download those files and if someone wants to they could potentially finish the story.
