Has anyone ever covered the guitar work in the first minute of this track? Please link… Ever since I first saw this movie in the 90s as a kid I’ve always wanted to hear it on a real guitar
@Jedimaster20 thats so true...but the composer is the same so thats probably why, maybe after so many years he didnt remember he had made something that sounded similar at one point
The story is that they had 19 days to do Pirates, so Zimmer and co. got drunk at his studio and finished the demo at 4:56 A.M. Either the time constraints or the alcohol level are why the themes are so derivative.
Of course music composers are going to recycle their own material. The top names typically do a movie a year sometimes multiple movies in a year. You think they're going to come up with completely 100% original material year after year after year after year for multiple decades? It's not humanly possible. However, Zimmer has easily done close to 200 movies/projects. He's probably got 10 or so legitimate masterpieces. Everything else is just to pay the bills. Same with every other composer in musical history.
Totally agree. No body can always write a new melodies. It's so hard... except the Russian Egyptian composer khaled hammad. His ability to write new melodies and main themes is unbelievable
And who composed Gladiator? Seriously, if you want to go after someone for ripping himself off, pick James Horner or something. Zimmer isn't nearly as bad as most.
Wrong. Hans Zimmer made this for the 1994 action movie Drop Zone. Klaus later used it for the trailer of the 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean and then made a similar sounding song. This one came first.
Mobarak Bin Saad Alzoraig Klaus Badelt is credited with POTC 1 because of legal reasons. Hans did that movie and couldn’t have his name on it because he was working on The Last Samurai at the time.

In Chinese, this film would be known as Zhōngjí Tèqū 終極特區.
This predates PotC. If anything, Klaus Badelt stole the motifs from him. In fact, Zimmer co-wrote the Pirates theme with Badelt.

Hans Zimmer composed Gladiator.
He uses the same themes over and over again.
James Horner does it too but he isn't nearly as glorified as Zimmer is.
Gladiator uses the exact same theme in it's soundtrack.
