    Quite fancy for a short section of driveway... but as always, you guys did a GREAT job. Did you guys pour the original? was that tree there? did you caution the owner about that tree? It's just that what you took out looked pretty new... but it couldn't have been all that new for a tree to grow so much that the roots brought it 8 inches out of the ground... IDK. Thanks for sharing these projects with us.

    David, how do you maintain the surface of the wooden bull float ? Do you oil it or do anything special whatsoever ? Should the face be super smooth or should it be slightly rough to draw against the concrete ?

    Master David, 2 quick questions if you don’t mind… what is your opinion of concrete R word (used to slow down concrete setting. afraid it will moderate my comment if I use the exact word). I have a large pour (for me, could be done in your sleep for you) and it was an idea to keep it manageable while pouring. Also, is a pea gravel 3/8 minus 50/50 mix ok for small retaining wall project? I am hiring a pump operator and that is their preferred size for pumping. I thought larger rock better for walls? Thanks for any feedback!

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete
      @OdellCompleteConcrete  4 месяца назад +1

      Pea gravel works, just put some steel in there.
      Retardant, I've used it and don't like the way it sets.

  • @frankensmann

    Unfortunately, you couldn't do that in Germany. We have frost in winter and this ensures that every small crack in the concrete would cause the concrete to flake off. That's why the concrete slabs are double-covered with reinforcing bars. According to the DIN standard, they have to be at least 2 cm from the bottom and 2 cm from the top in the concrete, because otherwise the moisture would cause the reinforcing bars to rust. This leads to spalling of the concrete and it becomes unstable.
