The thing that's missing at this Pizza Hut Classic is the Early American mate's chairs. The mate's chair is distinctive for it's "guitar body" shaped seat, ornate spindle back, and elegant and curved and scolloped back rail, with the "hand hold" for doing the gentlemanly thing for your sweetheart. Pizza Hut is where I first saw that style of dining chair, and sat'n one for the first time as a six year old child in 1969. As I climbed up into the chair, gripping the seat by the edges, I noticed the in-curves, which give the chair's seat the guitar body shape. Previously, I had never seen a chair with a guitar body shaped seat. I myself have a red checkered table cloth on my dining table at home, and four genuine mate's chairs around the table. I also have a custom made bass guitar with an actual mate's chair seat for it's body. It has the holes where the spindle back used to be, and the concave carvings for the sit bones. While everyone else looks at the mate's chair as an ordinary dining chair, I myself look at it as an ICONIC dining chair. To me the mate's chair is like a "Christine" car, Stephen King's '57 Plymouth Fury. I look at the mate's chair's guitar shaped seat the same way one would look at Christine's tail fins.
Me too!!! I had no idea that they had any Pizza Huts still open with the retro design. I sure miss it even though to complete the whole package we need the old school recipe
@@crimsontide1980 You're 100% right. I've heard rumor there is at least one location that still makes their own dough and has the old school recipe. I'm not holding my breath though. Getting the 1980's level of service seems challenging too. I'm lucky to be surrounded by mom and pop pizza restaurants with sit down dining and classic recipes. But, I'd really like the old Pizza Hut experience and pizza to take the family.
@@Gr8thxAlot I actually reached out to Pizza Hut on FB and had a rep reply back to me, was asking them if they had a list of all the Pizza Hut Classic locations and they said they didn't. Kinda puzzling they they wouldn't know the locations of the Classic locations. From what I hear it's only a handful of the Pizza Hut locations , probably 20 or less.
@@crimsontide1980 Nice investigative journalism! That is interesting that Pizza Hut doesn't even know their classic locations. Someone should just make a near-clone restaurant of the 1980's Pizza Hut experience.
I delivered pizza in Kansas for 28 years on and off. Started at age 17, in 1986, my senior year of HS and all through college and beyond. The tips were nice walking money.
I'd blame Dominoes for the way the pizza industry is now. Pizza Hut won't have any more dining room locations soon and I think having a dine-in option is what makes the employees pay attention to creating a good product. I live in California so we didn't get Papa John's till around 1999. I think they have some of the best-tasting dough and the pepperoncini in the box is a nice touch, but they are just not what I grew up with. When we still had a Kmart, the Little Caesar's snack stand produces some of the most consistent pizza I have had from a chain, I kid you not! Every pizza had the right amount of toppings (for me) and was never overcooked. I said to someone "All they do is make pepperoni pizzas all day long so they perfected it." Dominoes (the pizza) just taste cheap no matter what they do to it. I some other items from them but their speedy pizza had ruined the industry.
It's so great that the arcade machine is a multi-game - you can play whatever was in your local Pizza Hut.
Mine had Mrs Pacman.

This guy seems like a national treasure
I'd be eating here every day!
Genius idea! I want to go to one!

@@crimsontide1980 10 or 11 are the classics, we have this one right here in Warren and it’s pretty neat
Hey, I'm the 1000th viewer. This deserves more views. I'm an 80s baby just going around looking for the loves of my childhood. Thanks for the upload.

Bring back the Book It Club!
Where are the other 10 Pizza Hut Classic locations?
Fairfield, Texas might be a PH Classic.
I'm wondering the exact same thing!! I'm close to Memphis TN but I'm not opposed to taking a road trip.
Games still there
Where at. Still open
Do they have the red cups though?
Is this place still opened?
Yeppers!

Is the recipe the same as the old stuff? The new pizza is trash.
I really feel like they would have mentioned if they went back to making the dough fresh, that would have been a big change for the cooks
