I built this kit back in the late 90's, maybe early 2000's. I did not have to much of a problem. I did use after market decals though as I wanted to model a RCAF machine. I found the details to be superb. I did add wires and hoses to the engine and cannon bays. I do remember there was a lot of flash and the box could have been a little bigger as the sprues were packed pretty tight, but over all for the money it was a bargin. I feel these ICM Spitfire kits are highly underrated.
they are fantastic kits for the money i wonder if the decals where a bit old and thats why they where brittle especially the smaller ones i wished i had done extra details but at the time i made it i wanted to do a out of the box version until i added the cannons then found that area so lacking in detail i had to add ammo thanks for the comment its nice to see someone else liked the kit
Update. I built it wheels down but with handling it they snapped off so I will drill and pin them with copper earth wire. I can't use my compressor at the moment so after some research I decided to try and brush Vallejo Air on, it looked a right mess so I stripped most of it off and ordered the Aldi Ambiano cake decorating mini compressor. Waiting for it to arrive. If I had persevered with lots of thin coats of the Vallejo it might have worked I suppose but I won't be trying it again.
thats why i try and add wheels and small parts at the end because i always break them off i am using the aldi airbrush on a 1/72 spitfire and seems to spray fine for me but i dont think it will spray tiny details well
I've got one on the workbench but I've had to take a bit of a break due to the dammed covid. I struggled to get the engine to fit ok so in the end I left it out. The ICM plastic is a bit wierd and fine parts break very easily. There was lots of flash but on the whole it builds into a nice model, detail is very good I thought.
the fit of the engine was a struggle for me and needed a bit of tweaking to get it in hope you recover from the covid quick i had it about a month ago and it was nasty
you did a great job because ive made a couple and they are a difficult kit to make , not for a beginner
yes its not easy to build and i sure wouldnt have wanted to try it as one of my first kits
