Melody, you created a masterpiece. This feels like an old life of times past... one I wish to live again. This is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Thank you.
Musicienne, compositrice, vibrations de la voix exquises! C'est vous, Melody qui aurait dû prêter votre voix au JO. Merci du cadeau From Washington with love
If Ever I Recall Your Face [Melody Gardot] Melody Gardot Forget all that's said and done When your heart's a lonely one And see my dear that heaven is a place Whenever I recall your face Life can be so lucky now Some may win and others don't know how But I could drop my losing hand with grace Whenever I recall your face While leaving town, you leave behind The ones you love for who you find But love, no other arms could take your place Whenever I recall your face In the oceans of your eyes Lies a look I recognize A glance that leaves me dancing polonaise Whenever I recall your If ever I recall your face
Two problems with this song, which is a shame as it has a nice tune and wistful atmosphere: 1. "Life can be so lucky now Some may win and others don't know how But I could drop my losing hand with grace Whenever I recall your face" This should read "winning hand", not "losing hand". There is no cost in dropping a losing hand but a high cost to dropping a winning hand. The lyric-writers missed a trick there. Dropped the ball! 2. Why is the title "If ever I recall your face" when the song is about "Whenever I recall your face"? "If ever I recall your face" makes no sense.

And see my dear that heaven is a place
Whenever I recall your face

Whenever I recall your face
In the oceans of your eyes
Lies a look I recognize
A glance that leaves me dancing polonaise
Whenever I recall your
If ever I recall your face
