There are definitely moments on the trail, specifically with hiking, where it does feel selfish - not knowing how it is productive or constructive. Sharing these moments and hearing from those who it impacts is a reminder of how important these times are for ourselves and others. Keep walking, keep hiking on.
Kia ora Elina, really enjoyed not only seeing all those memorable locations, but also the introspection going on, that is the is major component for me of having walked TA. Yes the body needs to play its role & we are sometimes at its’ physical mercy, but the mind is where the fascinating journey exists, & hiking TA forces a reflective mindset upon us. Hanging out for ep 5!!!
Watching these vids is a bloody breath of fresh air of how lucky us kiwis have it. I’ve always been a huge proponent of go explore our back yard as it’s one of the very best for a country of our size. So glad your putting these out and your style is bloody rad 🤙
This episode hit me in the feels. My Tongariro hike in 2017 feels like just yesterday. I really resonated with the doubt you started to have after hiking alone
Thanks for the early Xmas present. This series is very inspiring. Would love to do the TA when I can return home to NZ. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas!
I loved watching your videos of the TA. You have developed such an awesome way of telling your story. That’s a true art and you are nailing it. Thank you for your honesty and laying it all out there. I hope that you start to feel how amazing you are by just being yourself, which is unique and perfect as it is.
Elina, just stumbled across your TA Vlog, and immediately I’m hooked! The way you tell your story is so inspiring and refreshing and telling the story of the trail and the people along it and on it is brilliant!! Makes me want to do the Te Araroa even more now!
Aw Elina I’ve been following your videos for some time and had been saving these for a rainy day (aka English Summer Time). You’ve always been a fantastic creative mind but honestly the editing here is just exceptional. You have a rare talent for storytelling and several moments in this film in particular just knocked my socks off. Thank you for making the very very hard look so graceful.
Perfect Christmas present for me... a new episode of your incredible adventure. Enjoyed every minute of it.. storytelling and music... so beautiful. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and wishing you an adventurous new year! 🎄🎉👍⛺
1200km into the journey! Realli good. And I think it's often about the people you meet and people on a crossroad of their life! I loved the vulcano landscape at the end! 😍 Keep going!
Love love love these mate. Thanks for taking us on such an incredible journey. Loving the behind the scenes ones too, giving me lots of cool things to try and weave into my little vids. cheers
Pirongia! Took my best fall there - did a complete pirouette when walking downhill, spun around and went skidding down head-first on my back. Ah, the memories ...
Hey Elina just been catching up on your videos, I commented a while ago and mentioned that was roughly 6 days behind you for the entire TA and so this has been an absolute trip down memory lane for me. So many familiar faces! I traveled with Charlie & Dahlia on and off in the south island after meeting them in the Tararuas, and I also met Kai a couple of times in Northland. Also, so many faces put to names.. Dicaprio, Baggins, Marv.. All people I felt like I knew despite never meeting them. Really enjoying seeing some of the trail angels again also. Really neat stuff, I admire the patience it must have taken you to do all this filming. I couldn't even keep up a journal for longer than a few weeks 😅
Hi Elina, is everything OK? I'm very much looking forward to the next episode, as I'm desperately keen to walk the TA one day myself, when pandemics allow! For now I'm having to make do with watching blogs from London! Anyway, I've been loving the videos so far, and I hope to see episode 5 soon. I hope everything's alright with you. All the best!
My favourite episode so far.. :) Thanks for sharing this wonderful journey, I love your editing and commentary.. and as for the 11:32 moment ..what you're doing is inspiring.. :) P.S. not sure how you managed to find the music for the bike stretch (13:55), but it's hilarious :))
11:30 I feel like thru-hiking has actually been the most constructive thing I've ever done. Learning to appreciate the power of absolute uselessness is something a lot of people can merit from in their life.
Your videos and storytelling skills are awesome! Is there any way to include a quick map of each section that shows where you are on the TA in your videos?
Do you shoot the whole time in 50fps so you have the ability to slow it down, or switch the Frame rate whilst you're filming? oh damn, forgot to say, this was so great 😂👍👍👍
I've been Loving your art for a while now Elina. If you wish to revisit the Tahuanui Track on Mt Pirongia to Pahautea Hut, the first hut on the TA, then see today's UTube post "Guide to the Mt Pirongia - Pahautea Hut - Tahuanui, Bell & Secret Tracks". Be great to meet on the trail sometime. PS I tore my rotacuff on the timber trail MTB, a big painful op so you were lucky
Don't see any point in walking roads or farmland just being in the bush and on the tops you can't beat it you can drink from the rivers and creeks without any problems But that farmland and the roads you've got to be carful what you drink enjoy
The emphasis on maori stuff, especially the ridiculous overpronounciation of maori words makes me not want to watch more of you. Thumbs down from me. Also, the grading of the video is not very nice. Too dark.
Kaj was speaking so softly and calmly with his accent, then whipped out the most kiwi g'day I've ever heard
8:16 can we talk about this transition? 10/10
Thank you for sharing your experience. Your way of storytelling is brilliant.
love that! the sync with the music was perfect!
I've absolutely enjoyed your storytelling over these few episodes. I like that you are open and honest about your struggles on the trail.
The storytelling, the visuals, the editing - always amazing!
your films are always so powerful
(as are your words). Thanks Bethany

I love the way you captured the tangled forests and how in sync it was to you expressing what you were going through… beautiful work!
Thanks for introducing us to NZ and its people - beautiful country!
Absolutely Brilliant Storytelling and Honesty. I'm so pleased whenever a new episode shows up.
This is such a trip down memory lane! I walked the TA in 2019/2020. Thanks for sharing your journey, your filming is beautiful!

Pure enjoyment to watch this series. Can't wait to see the rest. Your adventure spirit and the content you create are just so uplifting!
Thanks for the early Xmas present. This series is very inspiring. Would love to do the TA when I can return home to NZ. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas!
Another wonderful episode, keep up the great work Elina. Also wishing you a relaxing, restorative festive season…

Seeing Ngauruhoe brought me back to my NZ adventure in 2017. I hope I get back to see it again one day. Thank you for this.

You’re an incredible filmmaker! Looking forward to episode 5.
Your videos continue to be some of the best content on RUclips... more full on TV documentaries really. Ace stuff.

lindt's dark chocolate is just marvelous
What a neat inspiring video, good job, Te Araroa is now on my bucket list.
You nailed the transition’s and music. Very classy. Great video to watch. Thanks
love it! amazing comentary, candid portrayal of the hike and got some amazing shots, especially love the shot of the trees at 12:10
Wonderful, Thank you.
I loved the drums at the end. It felt like Maori power. Thank you.
GREAT tunes and very enjoyed your story. Bon chance!

17:17 Nice bit of wisdom
Great storytelling ❤️
You're really good at editing hey cuz
Epic ending of this chapter!
My favourite episode so far.. :) Thanks for sharing this wonderful journey, I love your editing and commentary.. and as for the 11:32 moment ..what you're doing is inspiring.. :)
P.S. not sure how you managed to find the music for the bike stretch (13:55), but it's hilarious :))
I truly enjoy your videos! May I ask the name of the backpack you used in this video? (the white and red backpack)
I think it is best to watch commentary first and then episode. Loved the music at the end.
awesome Elina Keep it up
so so good!!!

Wonderfull

I am tired of writing "amazing" but yeah, it is
hello mate! 👋🏻
ah don't leave us hanging like that haha! Can't wait for Chapter 5!
What camera did you film on? :)

Will you be up for Christmas tomorrow Elina? Congrats for doing so well on Yt!
Hey there - Just curious when the next chapter will be out? Monthly?
She’s tired. And most likely done with big thru hikes… for now.
this is evil having to wait
I hate the youtube premiere option.
Why tho
Don't see any point in walking roads or farmland
just being in the bush and on the tops you can't beat it
you can drink from the rivers and creeks without any problems
But that farmland and the roads you've got to be carful what you drink
enjoy
