Hearing a Mr Bungle song for the first time is confusing as hell. Finally understanding that song is so gratifying, it's like solving a piece of the universe.
Agreed. I've always loved this song, but I didn't LOOOOOOVVVVEEEE this song until seeing this. The live version takes it to a whole new level. I might be single-handedly responsible for about 8,000 of the views this has.
Yes,,,, I have never seen/heard a song / group / singer that is so consistantly better LIVE than sutdio. I have a son who I am trying to get to experience Mr Bungel etc and he is a staunch "studio version" of songs guy. ughh.. I keep telling him (he is 20) that it is an overall experience thing, He also wants to know what all the words are and understand. (SMDH) ... it is hard for him... one day he will "get it". I sent a copy of Mike's quote abaout his lyrics being another insturmen and mainly configured to ehnance the overallsong. Not the meaning.
My father just passed from a rare brain cancer. He loved The Beach Boys and many others. But what I'm trying to say is we my sibs and mom helped him pass together at his home with hospice. I think this song is about the ones left to people in hospice they don't know. Rushing for the end. So sad. By the way, when they get to the final stage they can't move or talk for themselves but they hear everything. It's a frustration to give them comfort the best you can without any vocals or hands. This song hits me hard for those not being treated the way the want during the end. 🙏🏻💕
Johnny Lamont To most, Mr Bungle takes a while to grow on them if you're not used to this kind of music. If only people would give the unfamiliar a chance...
It can be chaotic at first listen if your not use to a sound like this but I'm glad you "reflected" and gave it a chance. Patton is like a mad scientist (in a genius way) when it comes to music. Faith No More, his solo material, Mr Bungle, Fantomas, Peeping Tom, Mondo Cane, Tomahawk (that is not every project either) are all very unique, you should check them all out. You won't be disappointed...
+Fretless_ness It only took me a couple of songs to become a fan of Mr. Bungle. Though my second favorite band is the Dillinger Escape Plan, and it took me a while to get used to their music. Once you start listening to weird music, you start going out of your way to seek it out.
Shelby Gossett what happened between them? It couldn't have been too serious since they've played in Fantomas, Tomahawk, Mondo Cane & various John Zorn projects since MB split up!
ste roberts It happened earlier this year. I promised not to say too much about it, but long story short a bunch of stuff with Dunn and underage girls came out and his illegitimate children. Why he did it and what not. But I promised not to say more than that. That and he was using the labels money for illegal activities. Needless to say Patton is done with him.
I love the verse at the 44 second mark. It sounds like the Beach Boys on acid. It's amazing that they were able to write this type of music.
