Hip and Elbow Mount Escape done right

  • Most often when I see hip escapes, they are done terribly wrong and put you in a worse spot than before.
    Here I show the Hip and Elbow Mount escape done with a technically correct hip escape.
    In this hip escape, pressure is properly transfered from the hips to the shoulder. Study this one well! It will serve you everywhere throughout your game.

    Great lesson! If your partner has a tight mount, I often find it hard to make room for the hip escape. Can't wait to use this. Thank you!

      Getting up is for me always the first part of a sweep, escape or reversal.
      It gives you space and forces the opponent to react and put pressure back, which can be used to follow up.
      This particular way to get up, I use everywhere.

    Very nice one, it was one of the few things I did well in BJJ since the beginning but I used to escape the hips to get in half guard so posting in the knee to get in butterfly is new for me. Thanks for sharing.
