I’m on Sardinia trip now with my wife. Our week holidays are slowly coming to an end but we fell in love with this amazing island. And there is so much to discover than beaches and hills, amazing history even prehistoric. Thanks for this video with part of it!

I was surprised at learning I have 8% Sardinian genes.
We already knew about the Spanish, French & Italian part. I'm glad this video explains HOW they got there. Now I have to plan a trip to this beautiful place.

Cagliari isn't called "La Costa Smeralda". Cagliari is called Cagliari while Costa Smeralda is in another part of the island at the top north eastern corner of Sardinia 😁

Only one clarification: in the video it is said that in 1861 Sardinia became part of the kingdom of Italy. In reality Sardinia, which had international legal ownership, changed its name. The Kingdom of Sardinia became the Kingdom of Italy (which did not exist before). Therefore it is not correct to say that Sardinia became part of the kingdom of Italy: the latter, from a legal point of view, is the Kingdom of Sardinia which, by decision of the parliament, changed its name.

You missed out the holiday Ferragosto
traditionally marked the end of the harvest season, when friends and family gathered together to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
But also the Italian name for the holiday, comes from the Latin Feriae Augusti (the festivals of the Emperor Augustus) which were introduced back in 18 BC, probably to celebrate a battle victory, and were celebrated alongside other ancient Roman summer festivals.

Hi Victor, thanks for leaving a comment. I do not know know anything about you or your family, perhaps there is some guidance with your DNA test provider? Having said that, Sardinia was part of the trade routes that criss-crossed the Mediterranean - these routes would end up in north Europe, Crimea, China, the Middle East and Northern Africa. Perhaps an interesting topic for you to investigate and maybe reason to visit the beautiful island of Sardinia? Regards Sergio
