I would like to see Roy redo some of Paul's old videos such as "If I Could Only Own One Firearm" or "Paul's Top Five Guns for Home Defense" with Roy's take on the matter, even if the firearms he picks are the same. This could give us some insight into Roy's thoughts and opinions that could help contextualize future videos

There comes a time when we all go, nothing is more natural than death. We can thank God for the time we had with Paul and that his will be done with the time he as left. As I understand Paul is terminal, there is no hope for recovery(I hope I am wrong though).
I recently went though this with a loved one. Some people didn't get it, there comes a point where praying for healing/recovery isn't appropriate anymore. No point to try keep them alive at all costs so they suffer longer.
Unsolicited advice for when your loved one is dying at home:
If your loved one is dying at home, make sure you are well stocked with morphine and pain meds their doctor can prescribe, well in advance to them needing it. If you can get a carer/nurse, get the arrangements ready asap as things can go downhill quickly. Anticipatory grief is an extremely dark time, but try to focus/find the silver linings; last meal if you still can, talk about special memories you had, with them, whatever special thing you still can, do it with them. Hold their hand, keep them comfortable. Pace yourself(get sleep), days can feel like weeks, but there are 'imminent signs of death' to give a clue. Sometimes they won't go until they are alone. So also give them a chance for that.
For the not so immediate/estranged family, look up the 'circle of grief' and make sure you don't vent anything to the inner circle. That also includes unsolicited advice, don't be an vampire, don't be a burden. Instead offer real world support where possible. If you don't know what that is, ask a hospice nurse/carer for advice. Unfortunately anticipatory grief doesn't negate the grief after your loved one has passed. Sorry for your loss.

Great video Roy, the 10mil and .40 debate reminds me very much of other chamberings that shoot from the same cannon. 357/38 special to list one exactly the same. If someone is worried about carbon buildup clean your gun more, though it's not necessary if it makes you feel better about it clean it. Or just shoot 10mil and don't worry about what others are doing. Officer Greg "OG's Danger Show" has shot more .40 from a 10mil than anyone I've seen. He's been doing it for years, many thousands of rounds.

Same for James Reeves (TFBTV, and has his own separate channel now). I've seen him shoot a lot of 40 out of a 10mm. If I knew it would cycle well enough, I wouldn't have bothered getting a second separate barrel for 40 S&W in my 1911.

I used to hear that about shooting 22 short out of a 22 LR. Close-up view of the chamber after the hundred rounds of 40 short&weak may (or may not) have been interesting. Either way, thanks for the demo; I'll stick to shooting The Best Millimeter ammunition, but it's nice to know there are other options in a bizarre emergency.

I've seen this type of fouling happen in a revolver, shooting .38 until the .357 cartridges would stick. How do I know it was fouling, as soon as the guy cleaned the cylinder, the issue went away.

    As an infantry veteran myself and a master diesel mechanic in a the latter, I would describe a 40 S&W in a 10MM like using a 1/2’’ wrench on a 13mm head…
You can do it as much as it you’d like BUT… You really should use the right tool for the right job.

  • @paul7754
    @paul7754 7 месяцев назад +1

Sounds like the same clowns (comments) that ran with the 'can you shoot 38 Spcl. out of a 357 mag. revolver?' crew that then said 'but the 38 Spcl. will leave a 'firing ring' in the cylinder and the 357 won't slide in'. Well - some truth to the 'firing ring' (not to the extent that a 357 wouldn't fit in the cylinder) but a good cleaning resolves those kind of issues anyway. You do 'clean' your firearms don't you....? What's interesting here is that the 40 S&W which is much shorter than the 10mm still 'feeds well' in a 10mm chambered semi-auto pistol.

Nice video Roy. I'm glad you started using the lavalier mic.
Roy, what do you think of this idea for a video, as far as I remember, Paul did not review the Soviet caliber 9x39 from VSS/VAL. I have always been interested in how such heavy subsonic bullets behave inside the target. As an alternative, it would be interesting to look at any other heavy subsonic ammunition.

Good video Roy. Part one was eye opening for me, never having thought of 40 cal as practice in a 10mm.
Part two should quell some concerns folks might have. While 100 rounds might not sound like a bench mark for the subject, to me, it's a realistic test. I have to ask who would shoot that many rounds of anything and not clean the firearm before returning it to your edc holster? That's not a reflection on the gun. I'd bet it would probably perform the same with 500 rounds of .40 cal. It's just that if you shoot it, clean it.
    Thanks Roy.

Great exhibition. As with .38spl and .357 and other similar pairs, you go to the range with the cheap low recoil ammunition or if one only intends to only use the one caliber. Clean your tools (weapon) before you switch back to the longer caliber. Just common sense.
