    Blues is not just music, it's a feeling!! When I'm on stage playing the harmonica and or singing songs like this, there is such a rush of emotion that goes thru me that I can't really explain. It's magical!!!

    I have lost an uncle yesterday and I feel quite sad. I came up to this song and I have found it applicable or appropriate to what I'm feeling right now. This is the great dignity of the blues.

    Otis voice is one of the bluest voices that ever was. His guitar sounds like church bells tolling. It’s over. This is the end. Simply amazing! If I were forced to choose IMHO Otis did the definitive version of this song. Sorry, Fention and Albert.

    OR influenced almost all of the guitar God's of the 60's tried to copy his phrasing and licks more than any other of his peer's .His departure didn't get much attention/publicity n I just found out of this passing yesterday.His musical career was like he said"Double trouble"...one of his classic hits. RIP Otis Rush.

    I think this is one of his better records but the asshole record company kept this in the can a very long time. He's not capable of making a bad recording. PURE GENIUS
    Otis just may be the most underrated singer, songwriter, and guitar player of all time
    This a signature Albert King song and as much as I love Albert (one of Otis's main influences), this is the absolute version
    interesting that he's holding a left handed guitar when he actually plays a right handed guitar upside down

    l love otis rush...albert king's version to me, is the bomb. clapton and duane allman got the opening riff to "layla" from king's lyrical working on the "it's nothing i can do" portion of the song and sped it up...the rest is rock music history.

    This sounds to me like good blues music. Very much along the lines of Albert King. Is there anyone out there who is doing something really new in the blues field? Is there such a thing as cutting edge blues? So much of the blues seems to be stuck in the 60s and now it seems as if people are simply trying to re-create those sounds. Has the evolution stopped?

    • @whawkins8636

      check out Gary clarke jr

    • @supmet2
      @supmet2 8 лет назад

      I like Gary Clarke Jr. It still sounds like rehashed grooves and or styles from 60s and 70s rock, blues, and old school R&B. It sounds really good to my ear....it just doesn't sound that new or different.

    • @whawkins8636
      @whawkins8636 8 лет назад

      +magan well if you move too far away it won't be blues

    • @supmet2
      @supmet2 8 лет назад +1

      I don't think that's true. When Louis Armstrong heard Charlie Parker he said it wasn't jazz anymore. When the beboppers heard John Coltrane they said it wasn't jazz anymore. When Ornette Coleman came around they said he wasn't jazz. And so on and so forth. I believe the conservative "purists" simply want to freeze a point in time and say...."Only this kind of Blues music is the "real thing". It's become a bit of a caricature. Two tone shoes, hats, skinny ties, sunglasses, the same patter and stereotypes. We live in the year 2016. How about something that is relevant to today and today's world.

    • @whawkins8636
      @whawkins8636 8 лет назад

      +magan if you move too far away from something it becomes, in my opinion, something in unto itself. you can still share characteristics but I believe if one ventures too far away you give birth to something else. Rock was Blues until the white boys pushed too far one way or another

    Not to take away from the great Otis Rush or Albert King, but the best version of this song was done by Mighty Joe Young.
