@@mleonardsI'm guessing age and weight would be significant factors? I used to run sub 5k/20, 10k/40 and a 95 min half marathon in my 20's... now in my 60s after decades of not running... I'm hoping to run a little, but I'd be elated if I could run 5k/40. It's a 2024 goal.

Thank you, this comment gives me hope! My first running goal was to reach sub 30 5K as well. It was a new year's resolution of 2018 for me, but after ticking that off, I somehow I just stuck to my usual chill runs with much slower 5Ks. Which was fun, but after a while I let myself believe I was not even capable of more. Only in recent years I have discovered how much motivation races give me and I realized I AM capable of more. 20 min still seems impossible to me, but I'm working towards making the 30 min more of a comfortable pace rather than race pace.

I'd first started about just about over a year ago. My body weight was 175kg. My 5k target at that time was under an hour, progress to sub 50, sub 45, and sub 40. My next target is sub 35 (almost had it last weekend, missed by 30 seconds). It maybe slow to most runners, but for me, it is a huge achievement. Apart from that I'd also planned to run my half marathon sub 2h50m (did 2h55 earlier this month)

What a great video! I actually raced along and pushed myself to be faster than the video and commentary. 26 minute 5K thanks to this video. I wish there was more videos like this for breaking 25 minutes etc.

I owe a great thanks to TRC for helping me build my running knowledge, with tips and hacks for all manner of running related topics. I recently tried the Garmin 5k training plan, which ended 2 weeks ago and resulted in a 7 sec PB with a 23:21. My running journey began again, with the NHS couch to 5k 4 and 1/2 years ago now. It amazes me that I now have a PB of 23:21 🤯. Anna talks about targets/goals, of which I also have… sub 30 5k ✅… sub 60 10k ✅ … sub 2hr half marathon ✅ … sub 4hr marathon, 2mins short this year, but going for it later next year at the Chester Marathon🤞
    Thank you TRC team 👍

Nicely done! Started my running journey 3 months ago. At the end of the first month I've managed to finish 5k for 29:27. At the end of the second month 10k for 59:33. Now I'm training for my 21k PB hope for 02:10:00. People like you are my inspiration. Keep up the good work!

I love this! For lots of people sub-30 is an early goal and then they move onto other things but I've managed it a few times but every time I've then been set back by illness or injury (initially runner's knee, then covid, then the most recent being a broken arm, so not even anything to do with running!) and taken months to get back to it only to be set back again, which is frustrating
Right now I'm mostly focusing on strength training and just getting used to regular 5ks again without paying too much attention to speed but I'd love to some day be able to do sub-30s consistently and it's nice to see content around my level

I recently did my first ever park run in 26.30! with a previous pb of 29.30 during training. Found it really helpful to be surrounded by other runners at similar speeds. Now I'm starting to progress to 10k and hopefully 10 miles by april before I try to speed up further on the 5k. Lovely content and good luck with the pregnancy!

Great video! I love how you talk about what you're thinking about through the run. I found that talking myself through my runs erases the negativity or intimidated feeling I have through my runs. I do a 5K every other day now. I used to take a walk break during the runs but now I make sure I don't stop until the run is complete. It is a good feeling to push all the way through. I just subscribed. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Take care.
