I want to say something that has very little to do with the topic. I have a 1 year old baby girl, and I’ve been watching a Pints with Aquinas video with Fr. Gregory Pine in little snippets when she gives me a chance. Anyway, my little girl for whatever reason thinks he is great 🤣🤣🤣. She calls him “ the happy man” because when she first noticed him he had been laughing with Matt Frad, and now whenever she sees him she cheeses super hard and says he’s “ happy man” 🤣🤣🤣

I was born into a Catholic family and inherited the Catholic faith, eventually becoming a priest. However, during my school years, the faith I inherited transformed into my own. It was a profound grace. I realized that faith accompanies constant human reasoning but ultimately culminates in grace.

Paul met the Greeks, even before teaching them the Faith, he said that they had Justice.
What characterizes the Blessed are the Cardinal Virtues, and what characterizes the Saints are the Theological Virtues.

Matt, thank you for the video. Lately, I’ve been thinking about the topic of self consciousness, and can’t quite make sense of its relationship to prudence, but I really would love to hear Fr. Pine’s thoughts on the topic, and whether this trait of character is necessary for virtue. As always thank you for your work and for having Fr Pine on the show!

If there is a belief in the importance of those who were first witnesses and close to the subject then St. James is one. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of change.” (James 1:17) Faith is an acceptance that I come into existence in such a way that I am dependent and in need. I receive what I need from others, first my parents and then others in a society that existed before I did. In other words I have a need to receive I need to have things revealed to me. Atheists on the contrary, and this is the irony, have a firm belief that there is nothing that can be revealed to them that they themselves do not discover. And if they discover something that is counter to that belief it is not accepted.

Faith can't be certain, that's why they call it 'faith.' If there was certainty, there would be no room for faith.

Okay, but isn't a certain measure of doubt inherent in faith? If I see and touch and feel a thing, then I KNOW it. If I believe without physically perceiving, then I am taking it on faith, as per John 20:29 and Hebrews 11:1.

Bear the two powers of the soul: to know and to love (will). Faith is to decide freely to believe without sense knowledge. Not to doubt, which is deciding not to decide about something. Faith makes sense as long as it is not against reason or knowledge.

I see apologists like Michael Lofton and some many un-named Eastern Orthodox Apologists. And I feel torn, because my experiences in the spirit are very similar. I've had far more in Carholicsm of course because I am a confirmed catholic but I wonder if, If* I committed to Orthodoxy, I would have a similar experience of the Spirit teaching me?

These are some difficulties I've had for a long time.
How can somebody believe that God is and that what He says is true and that He revealed the Catholic faith without believing based on the motives of credibility for them?
I can't just lack assent to those things and assent without them, can I?
Maybe you'll say that God causes us to assent.
But internally to one's own psyche, how do I know that God caused me to assent? How do I know that this happened and that it was not the Muslim that God caused to assent to Islam?
If I have know way of knowing that I have faith, then I can't even know that God has caused me to assent and that it would be wrong for me to doubt.

    • @shlamallama6433
      @shlamallama6433 8 месяцев назад

That being said I do believe, and I strangely intuit that I actually do have faith and that I would be sinning by doubting, so I don't doubt. But I'd like to understand the theoretical aspect of it, not just the practical.

We know that no one can say Jesus is Lord unless the Holy Spirit moves within him to say it, and that when we call God Abba, it is the Holy Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are truly children of God.

You can believe anything on faith - things that are true and things that are false. Every other religion in the world uses faith and you’d say it leads them to a false conclusion. So it’s not a reliable path to truth. If it’s not reliable we need evidence.

Alright, then look into the evidence of Eucharistic Miracles or Marian apparitions. It doesn't fully prove that Christianity is true, but it could certainly strengthen the belief.

    WHAT WILL BE THEIR DOWNFALL:
THEIR DOWNFALL WILL BE CHOOSING RANDOM VERSES THAT APPEAR JESUS IS GOD AND TWIST ITS MEANING, SUCH AS HEBREWS 1:8, JOHN 1:1-3, ISAIAH 9:6, REVELATION 1:8, JOHN 8:58, JOHN 10:30 AND SO ON. NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THESE VERSES SHOWS JESUS TO BE GOD. ONLY THOSE WHO HEAR THE WORDS OF JESUS WILL SEE THE FATHER. ONCE JESUS SAID TO THE FATHER “YOU ARE THE ONE TRUE GOD” IN JOHN 17:3 AND THAT THE FATHER GAVE HIM LIFE IN JOHN 5:26, THERE IS NO MORE ROOM FOR DOUBT WHO GOD IS.
WHY DO PEOPLE GO ON TO DEBATE THIS AFTER IT COMES FROM THE MOUTH OF THE SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST? WHY DO PEOPLE DEBATE WHO IS THE FATHER AND WHO IS THE SON? ONE REASON - THEY DO NOT BELONG TO GOD. ONLY THOSE WHO RECEIVE JESUS’ WORDS AND BELIEVE IN HIM THAT SENT HIM WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE (JOHN 5:24). REPENT AND RECEIVE HIS HOLY SPIRIT; ONLY THEN WILL THE BLINDERS BE REMOVED.
