These songs are far from "forgotten". As far as the West Coast Experimental band, (Bar & Grill)
I think the more popular song from them was "Shifting Sands" great song!
      And it's a "waltz" too boot! 😊

It would help if a degree of accuracy was supplied with your material. As an Australian I can assure you that The Seekers were never forgotten - the fact that the US (and Billboard) has trouble looking beyond its own borders demonstrates the poor amount of knowledge that is displayed in some areas of this video. If you wish to check on The Seekers pedigree I suggest you include Morningtown Ride, The Carnival Is Over and A World of Our Own - the latter one made it to the Top 20 in '65.

They haven't been forgotten because we that live thru them still remember. What made them so good was the fact that there wasn't one type of sound. The types of music was as different as the next hit was to the last hit. You never knew what to expect, it was exciting. From the Who to the Beach Boys to Ledzepplin to the Beatles to Motown. All of it was different. We didn't realize how special of an era we lived in. We just assumed it would go on forever. It didn't, beginning in the 90s. And all of it was original, really good music. Now it all sounds the same, both so-called rock & country. What's amazing to me is a lot of today's newer music is trying to sound like the 60s-80s but is still trying to sound like today's top 40. It doesn't work. It's ripping off the oldies and butchering the music. The rest is the same old same old. What a great time it was to live in. There will never be a period like those 30 years ever again. No matter what you think of us old goats, we had the best music ever.

What I miss most about that era's music was that radio stations, including KSAN you mentioned, played everything -- Jim Kweskin's Jug Band, Alice's Restaurant (the full 18 minutes without interruption), Jefferson Airplane, all the songs you mentioned. It was a variety you can't get now. Spotify and such don't have any of that eclectic mix.

They are certainly not forgotten in the UK on the radio stations that play sixtees music. “Reach Out of the Darkness,” “Western Union” and “I See the Light” were absolute favorites that you don’t hear.
What’s sad to me is that classic rock and pop music from the sixties and seventies has been whittled down on so many radio stations to maybe a top 100 or so songs, if even that many. We had such great music, then, but often many songs were favorites in one part of the country, and less so in another. It’s a shame that they aren’t played along with the rest. The radio stations have become as boring as Top 40; you hear the same songs played over and over again, while you rarely or never hear any of the rest. In some cases great writers and performers are never played no matter how many great songs they’ve written. It’s a shame.

Geogry Girl was a great number used in the movie of the same name. Enjoyed the Rascal's, the Spoonfull, the Byrds did great Dylan covers. Donavan had a string of hits. Songs like, A Whiter Shade of Pale, and Nights in White Satan graced the New York airwaves, Getting Good Vibrations from the ever creative Beach Boys, we have barely scratched the surface as to how great the sixties music was. Yes I have heard of The Seekers because to this day they are one of the most highly regarded acts in Australia. By the way, Red Rubber Ball, (which was covered a number of times), was co-written by Seekers member Bruce Woodley. Woodley stated that Simon tried to buy him out and claim full composing credit. Even though Woodley refused to go along with it, he still struggled to get royalties from the song.

I love The Seekers. My favorite ie I Know I’ll Never Find Another You, but loved them all.

I don't know about others but including "The Seekers" in this vanished songs clip and asking that question is absurd.

The Seekers were awesome and continued to make music until Judith's death a couple of years ago. Their songs have never vanished.

I rarely hear the Four Tops version of "Walk Away Renee" on the radio. I do often hear the original Left Banke version. I don't even remember the Four Tops cover being a hit.

The Left Banke version is a classic standard.

I didn't know they'd ever even covered it. I have only heard the Left Banke version.

@@jacklow9611 The 4 Tops version was not what you would call a big hit. I didn't know they covered and released a 45 single of the song either, until just recently. I still haven't heard it. Maybe one day I'll check it out.

Four Tops had hits with covers of Walk away Renee and If I were a carpenter. Lots of radio play, not small hits. Got that???
