Wonderland is already horrifying, with or without this Batman villain. It's a place of insanity where everything seems hopeless and with no escape. Wonderland isn't a place of beauty, it's a place of discipline. And a terrifying way of doing it so.
The ending with Alice is insanely depressing. No matter how much Batman wants to save everyone there’s no undoing the lifelong trauma the victims of these villains have to go through I don’t even want to think about what Jervis used his mind control experiments to do
I believe Alice was actually raped by the Mad Hatter. The way she says, "No, it's not," had me pondering a bit on what she meant. I think some really sick shit had went on.
I hope Matt Reeves brings in the Mad Hatted in his Batman universe. Imagine, Bruce Wayne looses his mind and he wounds up in Wonderland. The effects would be spectacular! Just a thought I’d like to share.
Those thugs are pretty good singers! Why the hell didn't they go audition instead of taking a shit job that could get them killed? Oh, right, hidden talent, I get it...
I loved this mission. The bit with the henchman in the paintings had me stuck for ages then I realised... Alice in Wonderland... follow the white rabbit... GO TO HELL JERVIS!
The most disturbing mission in the whole Arkham series I've ever played. The wonderland is straight up messed up and trippy and hearing her terrified scream to Mad Hatter as he chased her and endlessly cries in the end gave me a cold sweat. I fell several time in the wonderland cause I felt so disturbed. Mad Hatter is a truly insane, delusional psychopath that thinks he lives in his fictional wonderland and the embodiment of the character he is so obsessed with.
So Hatter is holding a knife to the girl's throat and Batman is right infront of him aiming the batarang, here is what Hatter should have said. "He can, he will, he just has to leave, he can, he will, he just has to...what are you doing? PUT THAT DOWN RIGHT NOW"
Oh wow! The paintings in the hallway are all of the locations you see once the Mad Hatter hypnotizes you. I'm guessing that was meant to imply that Jervis was using subliminal message to influence Batman. He set up the paintings to plant the visuals in his head early on. That's really clever on the part of the developers.
I don't think Alice was raped, notice the blood on her clothes. Maybe she saw a dead girl who was the previous Alice but jervis got pissed at her for some reason and made the new Alice A) kill the old Alice or B) saw jervis murdering old Alice
OMG I just noticed, Tetch must have done exactly what you said or something else and I was wondering ever since the girl as Alice said “No, it’s not” maybe she was even raped by him but whatever happened to her left her really traumatized by it
Mucho thanks to whoever is passing this game :) its a great game and you are doing a great job as Batman, your not rushing and your taking your time to hear all the talks and dialogues.. keep doing what your doing.. much respect!
Did anyone realized that using detective mode on tetch reveals he has no bones? This makes me think he might not be the real hatter, but clayface in disguise
Thatch is convinced that he was the reincarnation of the Mad Hatter from children's tale of Alice in Wonderland. He think that any girl with the name Alice is the reincarnation of Alice from the story. Give it 10 years and Alice would be the last name parents will give to their children. I think that is the sure fire way to stop him for good.
"I'll cut that cowl off your neck before you'll take her! I've waited my whole lonely LIFE for her!" "Then all you've waited for is a puppet. A soulless little doll." "It didn't have to be this way... YOU'VE made me do this to her!" - Batman: The Animated Series, "Mad as a Hatter"
The problem isn't that it's harder, there are just so many enemies that you're unable to focus on every enemy, especially when half don't appear on the screen.
the combat wasn't hard for me, those stupid remote control batarang throws where you have to control the batarang through 30 feet of tunnel and throw it threw electrical fields were so fucking annoying...
See this is what the comments on this video should be about. Cause this is the true mystery of this mission that is left unsolved. Not a stupid glitch that everyone is over thinking that it could be Basil Carlo. Jervis is a creepy little man to say the least.
Knowing Mad Hatter in the comics, he never really did anything like that. I don't think he raped her. He's just a very odd little genius with a seriously warped sense of reality. The girl was crying because she was kidnapped. Enough of a reason alone to be traumatised.
That's a good point. He never was sexually interested. He just wanted his Tea Party to take place. Although she did say it isn't gonna be okay, that got me thinking because when a girl says that, that's the first thing that comes to mind.
OMG people you are nitpicking with these glitches. This game was destined to be hated the moment they announced no Rocksteady. Get over it. The story and boss battles were awesome and had some good side missions making it the 2nd best game of the series. Can't believe people. Are nitpicking about a glitch where Batter has no skeleton. Get a life.
And I'm sure the part of Arkham Origins where the plot changed from "Black Mask hires 8 assassins to kill Batman" just changed to another "Batman has to stop the Joker from destroying Gotham" plot. Which do you think pissed people off more: Joker characteristically doing something insane (as bad as it was) or an entire game pulling a total Iron Man 3 and basically cloning the previous game?
I think they ain't gonna put Mad Hatter to Arkham Knight, because he has been in Arkham City and this, so they will be like: " People would be bored to see Mad Hatter always in the game. " NO! We want him to Arkham Knight, right?
I've noticed that the enemies in Arkham City just stopped and punched you, they never lunged to punch you. In this game they jump kick, and lunge to punch you, and at a lot of camera angles you can't see this coming before it's too late. And yeah, they should have kept ONE Predator room accessible after the campaign... Probably the funniest glitch I've had is when I went in a low-res Bowery for a few minutes, I could fly though buildings but I still had grapple points, really weird. XD
It still pains me that I never finished the story. Definitely one of the best in my opinion. (City was best IMO, but this one had the BEST boss fights no doubt.)
If you enter detective mode after the mission, you can see that Hatter does not have a skeleton. This could mean that it was Clayface posing as Hatter, meaning the real hatter is conscious and able to keep Alice subdued.
I love this hallucination mission most in all the Arkham games (Excluding the most of Arkham Knight.) This we see a variety of crazy locations and each of them a place in wonderland.
Insanity is an ilness and the insane dont se the world as we do, some are completly "nuts" meanwhile some can still walk and talk, insanity is seldom cured.
Did... did Batman just leave a traumatised hostage alone in a room with her psychopathic kidnapper? He didn't even tie him up/restrain him just knocked him out...
Ngl I know the map is dead as hell but I think that Arkham Origins is one of the better arkham games I'd definitely put it just under city cause that was a masterpiece
+The_EluKKa That's the thing the best villains are the ones who are smart know how to break Batman mentally and that's the obstacle but the only way to balance that out is a one hit defeat but it's a struggle to get there
Batman Arkham Videos, can I have your advice. In this game, I've been trying to do the dark knight challenge where you have to get 20 critical strikes in one free flow combo, and I can't do it, any tips?
THE MAD HATTER OBJECTIVES: Primary Objective: Defeat The Mad Hatter and rescue Alice Objectives: • Confront The Mad Hatter at the hat shop • Defeat The Mad Hatter's thugs • Interrogate The Mad Hatter to locate Alice • Journey all the way to the end of Wonderland • Takedown The Mad Hatter
FoxyWhite I think these make more sense. Scarecrow's fear toxin makes you hallucinate your worst fear.... but unless Batman is afraid of jumping pits, fighting skeletons, and evading Scarecrow's gaze... then they're pretty off. With the Mad Hatter, you see what he wants you to see; "Alice in Wonderland" themed environments. I thought that overall, Arkham Origins was a disappointment, but I thought they got the Mad Hatter right. (In Arkham City, you just beat up thugs wearing bunny masks on a giant falling clock.)
FoxyWhite It makes sense. The hallucinations all take place inside Batman's mind. So it only makes sense that different hallucinogens would have a similar effect on him.
the mad hatter, out of all the characters is my favourite, because of how he works and how he controls people, that map, while it is a bit like the scare crow levels in the first one, it is more intense, more insane, more........mad that is what makes the mad hatter so awesome, his madness
This is a really late comment but everything wounded land is so interesting, rather it be the American McGee series or the arkam one I love wonder land,
Crazy people still have a clear vision of reality but they reason and think differently. Craziness is not a ilness but a mental damage. Crazyness can be cured and it is is the easiest to be cured of crazyness, madness and insanity.
The biggest reason I got this game, Jervis Tetch is in my eyes the most delusional villain in the entire Arkham Series. To believe you are The Mad Hatter & kidnap young women and do god knows what with them & which force them to be his Alice and once he's done he kills them! My question is did Hatter sexually attack Alice cause it really seems as if he did. But he's so twisted he may have just did this all to have her at his Tea Party
+Everett Crede Well, Grant Morrison portrayed him as an open pedophile in the graphic novel "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On A Serious Earth", so everything is possible.
Nikolaos Willis Most likely that wasn't actually Mad Hatter. It was an illusion that he made which was affecting both Batman and the girl. He might have left when he saw that Bats was winning.
I love the beginning where the three thugs sing you a song as an invitation. It's both cute and creepy.
Same I wish the thugs could dance in Batman Arkham city
If I were Batman, I wouldn't leave "Alice" with the Mad Hatter. Even if he is unconscious. I'd get her out of there.
He did call the police immediately afterward
Jaycee Morris Okay.
@Lemon Senpai he did
@Lemon Senpai i dunno its Just in the end scene
batman actually permanently knocks out people proof is in game theory's video about proof that batman kills his enemies
Tea Bagging the Mad Hatter. You are without a doubt the hero that Gotham needs.
+CJusticeHappen21 I suppose Hatter got his Tea Party ;)
+CJusticeHappen21 not the one it deserves
Nicko Bellic But the one it needs right now.

Haha-did ever play the two ALICE masterpiece's?
I have another to add on that. Once Upon A Time In Wonderland.
It’s Jervis for ya.
@midniteryder Alice: Madness Returns was all kinds of fucked up

He most likely raped her.
Exactly what I was thinking.
I was drawn back to this mission in particular years after playing it, something resonated with me.
Ik this comment is a year old but I just wanted to say I think it’s VERY possible that he raped her.
The three rabbit henchmen in the beginning were like: “now we have to sing and dance before getting our asses kicked?” 😂
"You're mighty in Gotham, Batman, but in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter reigns supreme!"
+DarthWill3 Great Episode!

Mad Hatter is one of if not the most underrated villain in Batman
The amount of work they put in for this side mission is really amazing
I believe Alice was actually raped by the Mad Hatter.
The way she says, "No, it's not," had me pondering a bit on what she meant.
I think some really sick shit had went on.
Or she's traumatized from this completely traumatic experience, but rape is likely
Rape. Definitely rape. Not the thought of being stabbed to death or shot.
The Conspiratorist
Yeah it's a sick thing to do to a young woman.
I don't know if they've actually came out and said it but I know in the comics it's been implied that the Mad Hatter is a pedophile.

I hope Matt Reeves brings in the Mad Hatted in his Batman universe. Imagine, Bruce Wayne looses his mind and he wounds up in Wonderland. The effects would be spectacular! Just a thought I’d like to share.
It would be an excellent addition since Batman 2021 focuses on Detective work
Matt reeves thought about using him but he will be in a other film
I think that's more of a James Gunn thing tbh. I would love to see him bring Mad Hatter into the DCU
For the longest time, I never noticed Jervis watching you at 5:54. That is just creepy.

right a above him when he turns the corner you can see his glowing eyes and top hat
As soon as Batman leaps across the gap and hangs on the wall, look directly above him.... creepy huh? lol

That it is, his case always intrigued me more than many others
Jackson Hood 2.0 well that is what arkham asylum is based off of
I do love the Hatter's laugh!
Jervis has no bones. Strange, a reference to Clayface? Or perhaps that is Clayface?
either that, or detective mode is discriminate against small people
Nikolaos Willis Most likely that wasn't actually Mad Hatter. It was an illusion that he made which was affecting both Batman and the girl. He might have left when he saw that Bats was winning.
+Max Moran that would explain why she said "no it's not" when batman said "it's over"
Clay face didn't exist at that time. This game is a prequel
***** he might of existed then
maybe he wasn't a public criminal yet
Such a good voice and version of the Mad Hatter
