  • This chicken farm is totally overrun by rats. 🐀 I've never seen an infestation like this before. Shooting with the .22 calibre FX Impact is the perfect control measure. We managed to eradicate over 300 rodents in 2 hours.
    First outing for the new Pard SA62-45 thermal scope. Lightweight and perfectly balanced on the FX Impact M3 made for a very comfortable shooting combination. Ammunition used was the Hades 15.89gr pellets @ 630 fps to help mitigate any risk of collateral damage to the infrastructure. A great result for the client and a heap of fun reducing the rat numbers.

    I like that you always go for a second shot when they are struggling. They may be pests but they dont deserve to suffer, they didnt choose to be pests!

    That was astounding. I've never seen so many rats in one place. Love the range finder in that unit brother. The ballistic x along the crosshair and small text with the range indicated is very slick.

      ​@@BossPredatorAcoustics please have a look at Australian mouse plagues . In one video The people open a barn door and they flood out the door like a wall of water. My uncle and aunty had a small plague on their farm and my poor aunty went to go to bed and there was dozens of the little mongrels under the sheets. I'd rather deal with a brown snake.

    Love that scope its on my wish "dream" list. Ballistic calculations would come in handy on the longer shots with pellets. Collecting all of them after the shoot must be a drag.

      If they're brain shot they'll still wiggle about mate. If they are hit elsewhere then obviously they receive a follow up shot as soon as possible

    Thoroughly enjoyed watching that. I found it highly amusing when they popped their heads out like Whack a Mole but with Rats and an Air Rifle :) I went with a FX Crown in .25cal. Love the Hades pellets.

    Oh boy, that looks like so much fun! I'm tentatively looking at learning to shoot, air rifles and rats seems like a good way to get my feet wet and my hands dirty.

      Trigger time and practice on paper is great for getting to know your rifle. Learning it's capabilities and improving yours along the way.
      The rat shooting is awesome for transitioning from paper to live targets.

      A dead rat carries no disease and contaminates no feed and water. They do have a purpose though, like cats and foxes they make excellent organic fertilizer.

    Fantastic bit of shooting, LOTS of rats, and the farmer should be happy. I think the PARD gives a better sight picture than the Infiray, at least in this video. Cheers from Texas.

    Love it buddy keep up the good work I used to shoot a pig farm with similar numbers of rats it was the hi light of my week shame it’s a busy industrial park with bait stations every few feet and after dark they are in evry bush bin and dark place but god forbid we be allowed to continue to control them after they close but that’s the uk for you nice job you did good on ya

    Awesome vid Rodney. Would be great to see an in depth review of the PARD when you've got time - I'm interested in their thermals. Noticed your reticle is pretty well centered - did you have to do much shimming to get their? Cheers.

      Very handy knowing the exact distance so you can compensate for pellet drop.

    Geez air rifles have come a long way since I was a kid popping rats in our chook pen. One shot, pump, reload, next shot.
    Question: do you need the same licence as required for firearms? Or is an air rifle licence seperate and specific for air rifles only? Thanks, always look forward to yours and Nathan's videos, true hunters who hunt for a purpose, not just for thrills. There's a few who could take some lessons from pro's like yourselves.

      Thanks mate. Same license required for an air rifle, in NSW anyway.
      They're are definitely a lethal bit of gear and the 28 round rotary magazine is fantastic.

I would like to ask, among the two thermal imaging scopes you use, Pulsar Thermion2 Pro Lrf XP50 thermal scope and Pard SA62-45 thermal scope, which scope has the best image clarity for naked eye observation?       Really like the ballistic calculator and the small compact size of the Pard however the Thermion2 has a better all round image especially at distance.
