What an absolute joy to watch you in a completely different environment, right out of your comfort zone and such a contrast to Beth Roars. Another sub for you!
Amazing, Beth! A fulfilling life is actually quite simple to achieve, right? We get attached to all sorts of stuff we don't need. Really looking forward to the next videos!
Ian is such a good guide and survivalist. This colab is what makes for great content. A city girl and a survivalist. Hope to see more of these useful skills for the everyday person.
This is so awesome. I do a lot of solo camping (in the states). I would like to really comment on the last few minutes of your video. One reason I venture off is to purposefully leave convenience; to put it aside (conveniently, I might add). To your point about simplicity, having only one thing to focus on, and forego the hustle and bustle of life; the beauty found in doing so has been so lost. How can people appreciate without having been previously uncomfortable? Sleeping on the ground is not as comfortable as my bed but the psychological comfort and peace obtained by doing so is worth it. And also, there is plenty of time to think. No blinking lights. No phone calls. No emails or messages to obsess over. And there isn't much in life that sitting around a fire cannot assist. Anyway, wonderful video. Seeing people exist outside of the comfort zones and grow as humans always promotes growth in me as well. Thank you for taking me on your adventure.
Finding your channel(s) has been a silver lining behind the pandemic. Pre-pandemic, I had very little time for RUclips and while I have no musical talent and almost no ability, I really appreciate your explanations. This video has been interesting because I'm a long-time camper with some experience in wilderness survival in the US and it's great to see survival techniques from other regions.
You've got a great idea.....I love these little 'life lessons' that aren't quite so little. Nice job Beth...you are a brave lady of today...putting yourself out there, in the raw so to speak and looking all the more beautiful for it.
Oh man, I loved this! Two of my favorite shows are "Alone" and "Naked and Afraid" which are both survival in the wilds shows. You did quite well for a first timer and Ian was a great guide! You should consider following this course because we never know when we might need some survival skills and you were enthralling to watch as you discovered and learned new skills! 5 stars for your attitude and drive!
Great start to the channel! I love watching survival shows, though I'm not very outdoorsy myself. I'll enjoy it for a day but I'd never purposefully try to spend a night in my own shelter. 😁
This was a really fun video and I feel like I learned quite a bit from it. I have to admit that I cringed a bit whenever Ian encouraged you to eat something. Of course, I knew that he wouldn't have done it if it was going to hurt you or make you sick, but every time there was just this 'this ought to be entertaining' sort of glint in his eye and I couldn't help feeling a bit of sympathetic embarrassment. Although, your reaction to eating the sloe was priceless. lol I can't wait to see more on this channel. :)
Loved it! Only thing I can think of is more outdoor challenges. Unless you're thinking things like being a paramedic, firefighter, police woman. things like that as suggestions.
Cool to see you just doing other things! You have a great personality to be and internet personality, besides a vocal coach! Glad to see you diversifying!
Looks fun and illustrative. I live in a region that has desert and cold/rainy woods weather, so this is a nice content to me. Congratulations for your new channel! 😎👍
I think it is great you tried this. I have camped all my life. Mostly in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. That started to get too crowded so, I moved out into SE Utah in the high desert. Around 6000 Feet (around 1828 Meters). It was a big change, about 5000feet (1524 meters) lower. Wish I still could, but about 6 yrs ago I started losing balance, so I have had to stop. Keep on going.
This was a great video. I would like to see you take it to the next level by simulating caring for an injured person. You and a partner are camping in a remote area and they get hurt (a broken leg or snake bite or something to that effect) and can not walk out on their own. What do you do and how well can you do it. Try the situation on your own and document everything, then get the survival expert to watch the video, point out your mistakes and have you do it again the correct way. Much love from the USA!!
Ok great first vid. Don't know about those delicious snacks i saw but heh if they can get you through a spot of trouble. Nice shelter and i am just glad you didn't burn the forrest down!:):):) (by the way on the bachelorparty of my brother, a group a 12 grownup guys could not start a fire. Even if they had a lighter. So nice job with that fluff). And burning down that forrest would have been hard in that lovely scottish sunny weather!:):):) Overal we can conclude that we in the modern luxury age are spoiled to the core and would probably not survive very long when asked for. On the other side! Human nature can be really resilient and survivalinstinct can bring some real surprises (bad and good) when called upon! On to the next challenge. Shall we start slow? Or do we go big right away (parachuting, free rockclimbing?)? hmmm sugestions? A nice flog about your hometown or another scottish city! We can always go crazy later:):):) Make it count!!!
I'd love to try some things like that. The next is going to be blacksmithing. I also have started aerial silks although I am doing that over the long term so I can put together a routine. :) But parachuting...I'd love
Scotland and Washington state here in the US are both temperate zones. The footage in this video made me soooo homesick, I haven't been back since the late 90s. You should give the camping a try over a whole weekend. Give yourself the chalange of finding food and shelter for a few days. I suggest near a flowing creek or small river. Just you and a go pro ' and a few extra batteries lol ' oh try not to over pack or under pack. Do a little research on what would be reasonable for a few days in your area. Have fun and be safe. ;)
7:24 PERFECT ! It´s the mushroom of the birch, isn´t it? It´s for making a fire, isn´t it? Fab-Facts: on tribe of northamerican natives - i can´t remember both names - made its tents out of birch bark. You can cook soop and nudles out of the nirch barks aswell. and some tribes used it as paper-for writing!
I'm looking forward to hiking some trails near me this summer, but I have never had the urge to try and survive in the wild, I don't even go camping. And after watching episodes of Naked and Afraid my stance has become even stronger.
I've been "striking" fires since I was a boy, as a boy scout and I am still amazed at how "experts" will have the person using a fire steel and using their scraper against the steel instead of holding the striker, close to the bundle and pull the steel backward against the striker. Even when using a flint (chert), I would pull it against the striker. In this way, all of the sparks are produced in one spot and thus heats that spot up faster than having your sparks flying all over the place. I like to carry cotton balls in an airtight container and have a silica gel pack in it to ensure the cotton is always dry. My fero-rod with striker and I am set to start a fire.
A great video definitely! Maybe we live comfortable in our houses, in the city... but always get back to the nature can makes us learn about how simple but beautiful life can be, greetings from Costa Rica! :)
Learning to survive is good. But further your knowledge and learn to THRIVE. Everything you need is in the wild. Not to mention wild edibles are delicious! Mushroom season here in the state time to go foraging
Great video, gonna love your new channel. That reminded of my childhood, in french countryside. Living in dense urban area now (mostly because of work), I'm really missing that much simpler lifestyle. Keep it up, I'm looking forward to your next vid :-).
That was funny, when I was wee my parents were the generation when Mum was a Tattie Howker and take us bairns with her and arriving at some field at 6am and cold it was always one of the first things we learnt was to go scourge for wood and get a fire going. My Uncle was game keeper at Megginch Estate near Errol, my Grandfather ploughed the land around Errol 1928 with his Clydesdales and made Corn Dollies which he taught me to make. All my immediate family are from Perth, Scone, Errol but I was born in Forfar. Anyway its nice to see this video that takes me back to the scenery I left behind to go live in Germany. Of course I returned often to Scotland as I loved fishing the Isla & Ericht and often combined that with camping so my tip for making a fire was to always carry a pack of them white firelighters. This will make you chuckle, one time I took my German girlfriend with me to meet all the family and my granny and aunties were always offering her scones that she took a liking too, one day driving towards Perth on our way up to the Highlands she remarked, George look we could stop there and get some scones for the journey, me somewhat bemused asked where ? she said. back there I saw a sign "scone palace" !. Yip she thought that was maybe a special place to buy them lol. Enjoy your time back in Scotland and entertaining us with your lovely videos.
Concerned for you as the video starts... Less so as I heard the premise. Glad you are in Scotland and not in Australia... It is cold and wet, but not so many flora and fauna trying to kill you 😊
Please take a few more classes before you have them drop you off alone in the Middle of Alaska with a fire starter and a knife 2,000 KM away from the next human. Absolutely LOVED it an your teacher is great. (most people that work/live close to nature seem to have a similar attitude)
Beth, remember Sam the dog is warm blooded. In a survival situation his extra body heat could make a difference, plus he will warn you of danger... And he can smell water, if it is not raining everyday. Oh, I am a dog person....
loved your first video of this new channel champion (sarah mcmillan ref.) though I think Id enjoy anything you produce. big fan not a singer but old music lover.
Vaya !!! Te gusta el bushcraft y la supervivencia ? :) bueno, una cosa más que se aprende, interesante y agradable. Un saludo desde Galicia en el norte de España.
Great content. I really like this new channel. I rank Beth as one of the top vocal coach channels with RVA, Zharoff and Julia Nilon, but this channel takes Beth to new levels in content. Keep up the great work! Cheers from Sweden!
@@RoarRawr I hope this channel will ROAR like the original one. People that try and dare new ideas deserve praise and respect. And we already know the best Tori Amos hair in UK after Tori herself has charisma that can carry a second channel. Thanks for the Good work!
Comments, likes and new subscribers help the channel greatly. Thanks!
Great to learn a little bit more about Scotland. Soon you'll be forging your own sword, destilling your own whiskey and building your own castle.
FREEDOMMMMM!!
I’m noticing a similarity between Scottish folks and Texans. As a group of people stand around in unpleasant weather and say! “Eh, it’s nit too bad.”
What an absolute joy to watch you in a completely different environment, right out of your comfort zone and such a contrast to Beth Roars.
Another sub for you!
Thank you Pete!
@@RoarRawr My pleasure Beth, the Scottish countryside is a bonus too!

Vem nos visitar algum dia desses !! 🤗🤙🏻🧉🇧🇷
Sam looks _super_ enthusiastic to be involved with the outdoor activities
The view count is booming, Beth! Congratulations! At this rate it'd reach over 100K views possibly, let's keep our fingers crossed.
You are a natural with this type of video, fun to watch
Thank you!
What a lovely dog for companion!
Cute Doggo! Great job in the wild, Beth.
Best doggo ever!
So chill.

Thank you, Beth! That was really fun to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Beauty in simplicity, but it is quite hard work. Awesome, Beth!
Great!!! Looking forward what’s next
Cool camping trip! Well done!
great, when I watch you I can't stop smiling
Outstanding to see you out in the nature!!! lots of love from Brazil

I love this channel.
I'm loving your adventures Beth! Than you for sharing. 😁👍❤ PJ
Glad you like them!
That was a nice beginning, mate! Hope the next videos are gonna be as enjoyable as this!
Thanks Adam
This first video is the third I've watched on this channel. It's off to a great start.
As a long time outdoors/bushcraft person, that doesn't practice it near as much as I used to, I'd like to say thanks for the video.

Loving the new content, especially as you are featuring Perthshire, the county of my birth. I'm not far away, though, I just moved to Fife for work.

When using a ferro rod, scrape (rather than spark) some of the rod into the tinder first. When you drop a spark on that "dust", whoosh!!! :)
