The live in Jimmy Fallon is beautiful. Jimin went higher than original at one part harmonizing with Tae.
Agreed, but he may have a hard time avoiding copyright. There is also the FESTA gift live version on BANGTANTV. This is one of those songs that must be watched live to fully appreciate it. It’s great in its original recording, but live it’s exquisite.

The Jimmy Fallon performance when Jimin jumps octaves in the last verse is one of my all-time favorites!
I second this recommendation, because it is live (during the pandemic, so no audience), the setting is beautiful and Nathan will really be able to see who is singing which verse. And ARMY will correct me if I'm wrong, but since Jungkook sings the guide tracks for BTS's songs, a lot of his guide work may be in the background vocals, especially with the rappers. However, Jimin features prominently on the ad libs and high notes on this song. One of my absolute favorites.

Love your little smile when Jimin starts up :) And agreed re Jin! Reading "Beyond the Story" Jin speaks of feeling so much less talented than the others -- but his voice is almost always just *dead on* and has a beautiful tone. I wish he wasn't made to feel his voice is insufficient.
5:28 It was RM himself who sang in the higher octave! You should definitely react to 'Answer: Love Myself' next. Their voices are so beautiful and the lyrics are even more beautiful and empowering.
I’ll always tell reactors to stay away from that specific color coded lyrics channel, Jaeguchi. If there’s a live performance you’re going to watch, then great! But for future reference, that channel has many incorrect lyrics. Better to skip them next time. ❤️

I think the live version from 2021 festa is beautiful. The harmonies, jimins high note. It was a (and still is) bright feel good video in a time when everything was so dark due to covid

08:21 Yes that's an adlib in english by Jimin. He also does it in some live performances :) he has a bit of soft adlibs on some other lines like in 08:55 he adlibs "---daelo bichna" but ever so softly and it's so subtle that you barely notice it but it contributes so much to the depth of the song. i love these details and how these small adlibs dont try to overpower the main vocals. Also in 09:05, the little wavy "toniiight" :D looove these details. tell me what you think of these :D
I had the same reaction as you when I tried to analyze it--- it's like I didnt know which voice would be my favorite but all seven are soooooo good!!!! i love love this song soooo much.

I like Jin's voice the best. Per Suga, Jin can sing 3 octaves. His voice will translate well when he eventually moves into acting (that was his major in college).
The live versions of this song give me goosebumps every time. I love hearing the voices of BTS and Army singing together, like I feel like the song was intended to be heard.

There are better lyric videos, you'll find really good ones.... this one was not accurate, some parts are sang by two of the members at the same time, but here they only show one.... Vocal Line do lots of the add libs, specially Jimin and JK.

Shine, dream , smile is actually in English. It's common for them to use both Korean and English lyrics in the same song
It's very accurate. If you start doing it this way your mind will be blown from what you thought you were here voice wise. They have so much range all of them they will shock you! Also most of the harmonies and back vocals are JK but the high shine is Jimin on that.

We will be getting Jin's album before the end of the year (less than 50 day till he is out as of writing this) - it will be a good chance to hear the full range of his silver voice - then you will hear him better in BTS songs - however, before Jin's album we just had a new EP by JHope and new RM coming and not hip-hop - alternative - you will have lots of new material

There are vids like this for all their songs showing who sings OR you can watch the live performances. One of the reasons I like their music is because its not always predictable and it just feels fresh in the same song. Can't wait for the live version! Thanks for your reaction!

Hi Nathan, all the color coded are fan made and they are not always correct. Watching Bts live will allow you to see who is Really...singing, harmonizing and doing the ad libs. Jin has a beautiful voice, as do they all. I hope you have a Wonderful Weekend...✌💜

Jungkook is notorious for doing a LOT and I mean a LOT of the background vocals. (Not all though) I believe he has perfect pitch just like Charlie Puth. (They did a collab) But the wayyyyy Jimin and Jin hit high notes just hits different. JK is my ult bias tho.

This is my gateway song to BTS and the first korean song i've ever memorized. such a beautiful, emotional song.
The ocatves for RM's verses are both of his a lower octave melodic rap & a high octave layered vocal. And the high note was Jimin's adlib. Yes even the rappers of BTS has good vocal projections.

Jaeguchi's channel may be the most viewed lyric video breakdowns for BTS, but they really aren't the most accurate. What they are is the fastest at uploading. For a better translation and a more accurate depiction of who has which lines, AF Taehyung is better. There are a couple of others that are reputable as well, but I can't remember off the top of my head
Mistakes in this lyric video
- the bridges got flipped on the third line, so the first time Jungkook was highlighted when Jimin is singing, and the second time Jimin was highlighted when Jungkook is singing.
-Jaeguchi does not often do a breakdown of the background or adlib vocals. e.g. Jimin's stellar "Shine" held note
- Harmonised notes of less than the full seven are never indicated unless its really obvious like Jimin and V. There are at least three other points of harmony aside from the "oh-ohh-oh-ohh" in this song that Jaeguchi failed to note. And they didn't even note that obvious one either.
-Jin's lines are often misattributed to Jungkook, as they have similar ranges. e.g. last line on the second chorus
Side note: Jhope was probably the one who sang the backing octave for RM's lines. V is too deep; RM can sing but its very husky, so would not match an octave-shifted vocal track; similar for Suga; and the other vocalists are too high in their chest voice. Compare with Jhope's solo song 'on the street' ft JCole, and it seems to match.

Sadly, colour coded lyrics are infamous for getting both lyrics and singer wrong like 25% of the time but yeah
In that kind of videos you don't need english translation because it is included in the video. Good reaction!

I think since you were following the English translation you didnt' catch that sometimes the lyrics do switch to English and Shine, Dream Smile is an English lyric part of the video and Jimin is doing the adlib higher Shine in the background so your ears were right it is Shine.
The live is always better. They do some amazing adlibs.

so although we do not like this type of lyric videos for various of reasons, they are indeed pretty helpful and accurate in the most part. at rm's part the one who is doing the higher octave is himself actually, and if you pay attention to it i think you could hear it, it is very distinguishable. 8:17 they are not singing in korean, they're saying "shine, dream, smile oh let us light up the night" like the lyrics on screen suggest. when they are singing in english, theres no korean on screen. also you do not need to turn on CC for these videos since everything is already on screen.

When jimin sings "shine" as an adlib, the actual verse everyone is singing is in english, they all say "shine, dream, smile" 🙂
So the adlib matches the verse in the same language.
In Suga's show interviewing V (and Hobi), he says he is amazed that all 7 of them came together without a background in singing and learned to sing and dance to become BTS. Hobi was a street dancer, Jimin was a modern dancer. The trainee system in Korea worked.
But Jungkook and V had some singing basics before joining BTS esp Jungkook.

I think you should check out their MMA performances. The 2019 one is so good. It is known as one of their best live performances.

Ahh color coded lyrics are good when someone is learning names to voices, etc, but also you have to be careful with bc they have mistakes and sometimes do obvious that when you look you are shocked that some put another member on some verses. So never trust 100% them and there is no hidding that life you see who is singing what part so there is always a way to check it out.
And Army dosen't like we channels bc they shaddy haha but most important when songs come out they put translations so fast on YT that there is so many mistakes that later when better translations that people took time to understand and use words that much context better, etc, are out it is like hello and heaven...
