    Using Milwaukee SwitchBlade as a Shell Mill in wood...Brilliant! I was brought here while researching using wood die to press aluminum. Trying to recreate an aluminum pressed retainer for Humvee armored windshield laminate glass. Before I went on active duty I worked as apprentice in a machine shop, Fred Schindler, an old school Tool & Die Maker, taught me the trade basics. He said they used high density wood for small or single parts run. He said the old solid oak exterior doors made good material for prototyping, One-Of, etc.

      I done some other shapes since. Now I make the wood form slightly over size and stamp a piece of sheet zinc. Then laminate the zinc to the wood so the die lasts much longer

    Genius! I love watching people look at something and figure out how to make it happen.

    Great video. Nice problem solving skills. You made it work it a simple way that gave the results you needed. I love the ingenuity.

    In part two I will be stamping the sheet metal scalloped panels, assembling the bar walls and putting it all together.

    Looking forward to Parts 2 and 3. I plan to stop by this brewery when it's all done and enjoy a pint at this uniquely built bar. Can you provide the name and location?

    Is it possible to make the top die and bottom die out of wood and then using a series of bolts to clamp down and press steel to the desired stamp shape

    • @itsnot_stupid_ifitworks
      @itsnot_stupid_ifitworks  Год назад

      It would depend on the complexity of the shape and thickness of the steel but it is possible. Even heavy stamping presses dont make some parts in one strike so you could make a preform die to get the general shape then have a final shape final die

      @186scott Год назад +1

      @@itsnot_stupid_ifitworks the shapes are not that complex as it is it is basically a triangle shape

      I just made a maple wood die and I lined the top and bottom die with zinc sheet metal to protect the wood during stamping. I filmed it so I intend to make upload a video

      @@itsnot_stupid_ifitworks I did think about doing that but there is no routing bit with the correct angle so I would have to make the dies in 2 pieces and instead of lining it with zinc of fire hardening the wood instead but 3d printing is alot easier as I have everything to do it

      @@186scott could you make two cuts with a table saw to make the proper angle?
