I would say yes. It doesn't mess with the integrity of the loc and can be removed very easily.

question: would the elastic braiding string work for this? i want to do this to my locs and keep them in permanent, but don’t know what’s best. thanks 💚

They probably would work as well. I do find that elastic is more prone to unraveling but no harm in trying.
