I just bought one. Full disclosure, I am not a classical guitar player. I am not a professional. But I have been playing since the early ‘60s. When I stumbled across this guitar on line, I was immediately attracted to it l. It had the one voice I did not have. I listened to a lot of demos on line. They really sounded good. So I bought one. For many reasons. It’s an excellent practice guitar. It has lots of features. It’s light. It is an excellent travel guitar. The tone is great. A huge package for a reasonable price. I did take it to my luthier to get the action adjusted a bit. You can’t go wrong with this instrument. I don’t think anyone but the purists will be disappointed. Enjoy!
Thanks, good points. Actually only thing that irritates me a little bit is the highness of the strings but it can be adjusted. I may do same and visit my luthier to do some adjustments.
@@JoonasWideniusOfficial take it to a good luthier. The piezo pickup is just under the saddle. So be careful. The saddle can be ground down to adjust the action. But you do not want any “buzz.” If you go down too much, a new saddle has to be built. My luthier took it down by 1/32 of an inch. It did make a difference. The nylon strings vibrate more than steel strings. So if the action is too low you will get buzzing. Get everything just right and you will love this guitar. Good luck!

For the record, there is only one pick-up in this guitar - the piezzo under the saddle. There is not another physical microphone as he says at 1:35. The other "mic" is a sampled sound that is contained within the electronics of the pre-amp.
notes at the end of the neck sound pretty warm and natural. the problem comes when you explore the higher frets. There´s is where it definitely loses brightness and crispness, when compared to a regular spanish/acoustic guitar. it's a guitar meant to practice and to bring a more jazzy-modern sound to the traditional guitars. it's not for everybody, that's for sure.
Yeah, I consider this as an individual instrument. If you are (like me) a nylon-string-acoustic-player, then you can't do all things with this BUT it gives other possibilities to color up for example an album, gigs etc. Interesting piece of gtr 🙂
I brought the Yamaha SLG200S 4 days ago and today i brought the Yamaha Slg200n . I have the Yamaha APX10N and lot more of other good guitars but this silent guitar really is adictive to play ! With headphones in i can now feel kinda matrix
With some delay pedals this could be fun... I wonder if there would ever be a situation to use distortion with nylon strings, because if there was, this guitar would be perfect for it. But the guitar seems really cool for pedalwork with a nylon string without having feedback problems
It's more or less ok. Not an amazing instrument but like I said in the video (if I remember right..) It has a very specific sound and feel, so I would say that it's not good as a main instrument but good support for the shows and music.

I use this guitar nearly exclusively since a few years, together with a good clean amp at home. I have adjusted it correctly and modified the armrest so I can play more precisely. I also invented a new artificial fingernail technique to play easy without plectrum. Although the fingernails are also useful for classical guitar, they help simplify playing on the silent guitar. As it is a little special guitar, you want to make adaptations as easy as possible. The main advantage is, that I can play at night and take it as hand luggage in airplanes for business trips 🤓😋🥰

what is that song you play at minuto 7:37 ? sounds like a soundtrack from a movie
Question: I like the wider neck on the nylon version of this guitar. Would it be possible to string the nylon version with steel strings (11-52)? What would happen if did this?
It's good for sure, with a lot of effects and a good amp, but a handmade guitar will always be the better choice 🙃 Otherwise we loose the respect of such an old craft with all it's spirit🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yeah, like I said in the video, this is not like a luthier made guitar :-) It's a interesting instrument that you can do some interesting things with. Don't think it as an replacement for the normal guitar, it's like an independent instrument with its own nature. I see that's also a good thing.
Rik Emmett used on of the steel string Yamaha silent guitars on a entire tour and he can afford any guitar that’s made. So I think it’s a real instrument.
It’s a toy for rookies and absolute beginners, it’s a toy only for travel, not for real live gigs ! It’s a scam and Yamaha should be ashamed! Fuck this guitar , please forgive my language, I’m utterly pissed because Yamaha won’t give me my money back , do not buy it “ you’re warned ‘
Rough words. I know many professionals who have recorded with this gtr and I would say that there are definitely situations where you can use this instrument. I wouldn't judge this straight away.
Ive been lingering on pressing the button to buy this guitar, your test inspired me and persuaded me to buy it. Subscribed!
Cheers!

I cant' say, you have to test and choose your choice that suits you better.
