How I wish there would really be a 'Rhiannon' musical, with witches and fairies singing Fleetwood Mac songs. It is like "Mamma Mia" meets "Charmed".

I saw Fleetwood Mac do 'Rhiannon" live in around '78 and they did this 20 minute intro that was brilliant yet unrecognizable as Rhiannon.. the stage lights were very low and dark and the rest of the band were stationary and seemed deep in the groove of the moment..the only movement was Stevie and she was just doing her twirling and dancing with her black cape- all around the stage, i kept wondering how she was navigating around the Stage in the dark as well as she was.. it was memorizing and captivating and spellbinding and then the intro began to swell and increase in tempo and i was fixated on watching Stevie like she was possessed and in another realm entirely...then SUDDENLY- during one of her twirls she was right next to her mic stand and they in unison broke into Rhiannon, a bright spot engulfed Stevie and she broke into "Rhiannon rings like a bell in the night.....".. my head exploded at that moment and i have never forgotten that surreal moment i shared with 20,000 other people and Stevie Nicks that night!...I have seen numerous live clips of her singing that song since, but nothing has really come close to the magic that she portrayed and the theatrical performance that i witnessed that night in Utah~

@@ocb7160 Well thank you, im glad i could share it- it really was that incredible and magical and surreal...and it really wasnt JUST the performance of Rhiannon, the entire night was incredible, every song, every nuance, everyone in the band was on point and superb that night especially..i was only about 6 rows back from the front and was right in front of Lindsey Buckingham all night...i was so captivated by his presence and guitar playing, after that night my mission was to learn how to play guitar well and use his finger picking style...i never have stopped that quest and have him alone and that evening to thank for a wonderful journey~

I suppose she likes Game of Thrones, too. I like to study and am fascinated by a lot of Norse mythology. A lot of ancient Hebrew/Isrealite rabbinical stories, commentaries, books, what's commonly misunderstood or not known today is that up until the early 7th century C.E., many ancient Israelites practiced polytheism, or syncretized their monotheism in Yahweh with older, indigenous Near Eastern Canaanite or Phoenician deities like Baal, Ishtar, Asheroth, Ra, in fact they combined certain aspects of older Canaanite folk religions into early Judaism by worshiping a female diety alongside Yahweh, in essence God had a wife. By the time of the Babylonian captivity and deportation, the centuries-long resistance or reluctance of ancient Israelites to totally abandon polytheism completely and embrace monotheism was achieved and due to the Talmuds writing and the nearly 1,500 long cultural and religious influence of Babylonian Jewish influence, the basic core foundations of modern Judaism was put in place, along with the Septuagint, in ancient Egypt in early 3rd century C.E. in Alexandria where the Jewish Old Testament was translated into Greek.

I said, "as close to the stage as possible. I got like the 2nd row, stage left, great view. She was into 'Edge of Seventeen" and the extended guitar at the end was kind of looping while she reached out to touch the finger and hand of her fans. Excellent video. Rh in Welsh is quite a unique digraph, there isn't really an English equivalent. Officially called a Voiceless alveolar trill, it's the letter r but not voiced, quite breathy. Also, the LL in Pwyll, is a Voiceless alveolar lateral fricative, meaning your tounge is in the position it would be for the letter L, but no voice, again just breath, the town Llanelli is a good example if you want to hear it. But your mabinogion pronunciation was perfect.

Also, give credit where credit is due. Lindsey Buckingham created the instantly recognizable hook for the song, which he did for many songs for which she garners the lion share of the credit.

In the short run of the game they met, among other things, a Smooth Criminal, made enemies of the Court of the Crimson King, (although I dont think they got that one) began swearing by the Thin White Duke, and were on there way to visit the court of the Wilbury Brothers, kings who traveled the world via airship doing a piss poor job of pretending to be peasants.
One character I was slightly in love with was the high priestess of Rhiannon. They did not get to meet her, unfortunately. This was before I knew there was a connection to the mystical with the character, I just saw her as an archetype, and one that Stevie Nicks leaned heavily into herself. I'm so glad to see that there was even more there than I even knew existed.
PS: this is the video that convinced me to start watching Nebula.

Rhiannon is a song that was always around as my parents were fans but it sunk its hooks in when I was a teenager. Stevie knew how to write music to enchant people and in 100 years we will still be hypnotized after hearing a few bars

I'm so glad you brought up Rhiannon in Stevie's other songs, she also eludes to the myth in songs like Goodbye Baby (Don't take me to the tower / and take my child away) and The Nightmare (So about the moon and her sisters / How dare he take them prisoner). I believe Rhiannon is in all of her songs. She has been teasing new music recently, I hope the Rhiannon project sees the light of day.

    Weird story:
Ever since I was a child, 3 birds have always been following me around. They always fly in the sky near me whenever something very important is going to happen. Recently, the song "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac, has been playing in every building i enter. On the radio,on my phone, in the car. Now seeing this video, YOU MEAN TO TELL ME RIHANNON HAS 3 BIRDS????? THIS IS ALL FLOWING TOGETHER OH MY GOD

You should consider having a journal and recording your experiences inside it. It would probably make things a little less confusing if it was more concise and broken down day by day. Maybe then you could discover more patterns, hopefully have a better idea what causes these birds/entities to follow you, and hopefully give you some closure. Hope you have a good day and are staying safe from the pandemic.

They have not been officially released but are on RUclips for those interested. You can also find a magical piano demo from the 1970's with a song Forsaken Love on RUclips.

I loved Fleetwood Mac at the time.. but after seen them live I never thought of them the same. they were overwhelming, unforgiving, and on it. And when Stevie sang Rhiannon.. at the end it was like she was possessed. I remember my awe till this day; I was like wtf was that! Because it was much harder and emotional than the album. it was incredible to see and hear live. and I'm so glad I can watch the performance from this time on you tube.

+Polyphonic You should do a video on U2's Joshua Tree album, it launched a local Irish band to superstar status worldwide. It's a really cool album that explores America from an outsider's POV, and is so culturally significant that the US preserved it in the Library of Congress. Given America's immigrant founding, Joshua Tree is a very relevant album.

Its art unto itself. I love music and talking about such behind the scenes stories it comes out of, but I really appreciate how you've channeled your love for music into art itself. Thank you Polyphonic, very cool!

I have an amazing story regarding Rhiannon! I was writing a story largely inspired by an imaginary relationship I was heavily invested in and by my dream about the lady living in the forest who I've met by an apple tree. Apparently in the dream I was the only man who has ever passed through the barrier of branches and thorns, and when I did there she was. The story was the recollection of my experiences about that "relationship". That imaginary girl was intelligent, tactical master, well versed in magic, both dark and light at the same time. I was listening to Nicks "Rhiannon" at the time. Thus, in the book I wrote I named her Rhiannon. I didn't know about the Rhiannon from the legends. I actually googled the name and when I did I was like "What??? How??" Because, apparently, Rhiannon was both light and dark, a master tactician, intelligent and versed in magic. Just like in a dream I had as a child, Pwyll was taken to her realm where no man ever came to before. I was so moved by this, it practically changed my life. Even my current nickname on Steam is "pwyll_pen_annwn" because of this. Now it seems I was not the only one. This is so mysterious and beautiful!
