Your Mira’s are beautiful and I am just in love with all the Christmas pieces! I have not seen that dimensions kit yet but am now on the hunt 😍. Happy stitching!
So fun to see you again. Sorry you have been ill but happy to hear you are on the mend now. You have so many beautiful projects, I particularly love the woodland lady by Joan Elliott. Congratulations on the progress you have made on the Advent piece it is stunning and something I have not seen anywhere else. Take care and enjoy your stitching xxx
I really admire you doing the research on the genuineness of the projects you invest in. I'm afraid I purchased a couple on Etsy that were not legit, but I did the same. I researched the artist and was able to find the original. He did not have many out there and they weren't cheap! But I loved them. They were all beetle bugs which my mother loved and I wanted to stitch in her memory💕
I was SO happy to see you posting a video. I've been waiting and wondering when we would hear from you again. You are in my top two favorite flosstubers. I have also struggled with that nasty aida that comes in kits. But I usually use it anyway if I can wrestle it into submission. I have tried washing it before stitching but it doesn't seem to help much; maybe just a little. What helps the most is the frequency of stitching on it. The longer I get it out and work on it, the better it softens up. But I get such dry hands and finger tips when I work with that stuff. I really enjoyed all your info and stories today. I am also working on Passion Flower Bridesmaid. I have the girl all stitched and backstitched; only have beading left to do but I haven't beaded in 20 years so I am hesitant to start and have put it aside. Also, not sure what kind/color of frame I should have it framed in. I stitched mine on mottled lavender aida. If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them.
Aw! Thanks rene! You are too kind! I actually had a comment about fabric on my Instagram about how to get the sizing out of the kit fabric. I'm going to try it and let you know. Beading is like riding a bike, once you start, you will remember how to do it. For my fairies, i typically stick with a simple white frame. I usually use busy fabric so the white frame subdues the piece a bit. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
Yay! Glad you’re feeling better! Love your Santa advent. Had to laugh when you said you stitched on some bitsy things and then mentioned Lady of the Mist, and I realized you stitched a bitsy, not referring to the project size 😂 Happy stitching!
Beautiful stitching! The Mandela with specialty stitches is beautiful! Love the stocking…I did three for grands in 2021. Thank you for sharing your time and skills!❤
Hi Amanda! The Christmas Dimensions kit you're stitching is really a beautiful piece! You're so close to being done with it too..🎉 I have a piece that I cannot bring myself to backstitch for the life of me and I don't understand..😅 Glad you and your family are doing well. Your haul was also so pretty. 😍
I love your video, as always! I think you handled the issue with the Santa on the white horse perfectly. The reason I don’t use CXC floss is actually because of the polyester content. I stay away from plastic and man-made fibers as much as I can, for environmental reasons separate from dyeing, but to each his or her own. No judgment from me for those who use it. Thank you so much for the video! I can’t wait to see you at Stitch North!
Amanda, I am so excited for Stitch North. Loving the Joan Elliot piece. I still have all the back stitching to do on my chickadees piece 🙃. Not sure what I will bring to stitch North. See you at Stitch North.
You just started Joyous Advent at the end of Jan and you’re almost done already?? Wow, what a gorgeous piece!! I think you did a good thing with the Santa on horse pattern, we’ve all been duped with patterns at some point and you made it right by buying the HAED pattern and compensating the artist. Your story about Buddy the horse was so sweet, I’m sorry to hear you haven’t seen him lately 😢 As always I enjoy seeing all your beautiful stitching, just a heads up that I’ll be begging for a few stitching-in-hand lessons at StitchNorth ☺️💕
So great seeing you back!! I wish my purchasing stitchy bug would disappear for a bit 🤣 as far as your crusty stuff dimensions Aida goes I know Luda will wash her fabric in a small amount of fabric softener and it looks like it works really well!! So exited to leave your family omg your face I’m dying, totally feel you. I can’t wait for my retreats! Byeeeeee children! 🤣 and btw I LOVE cxc. I don’t care if ppl have a problem with it, I’m on a budget y’all! AMO sells a full set of 100% Egyptian cotton that I bought for .10 a skein on Ali Express and it’s AMAZING. Dmc who???
Really sorry you've been so unwell as well as having to take care of the family while they're sick too; you're a saint! I would have given up lol love your amazing progress on the advent and it's good to see what that kit looks like stitched up, the model photo just doesn't do it justice. Have a wonderful time at the retreat, and if you do take the beading project, bahahaha GOOD LUCK
Hi, my name is Steve, and I'm also a Rolanda addict😊(much thanks to you and roguemama!) Quite nice seeing 3 months worth of stitching! Sounds idyllic having so much animal exposure for your youngsters so close-by. Thanks for the CXC review. Sounds like I should give them a try, especially when I want a bit better coverage with really dark or light flosses.
Ha ha steve! Yes, you are in good company with all of the othe HDBR fabric lovers! I have lots of wildlife stories. It's nice living in amongst nature in the country but it also has its downsides. Critters can be destuctive! We definitely love living near a zoo. Give cxc a try. Again, you will either love or hate it.
I'm sorry that you're plagued by migraines. I suffer from them occasionally. It's usually when there's a storm brewing in the Gulf of Mexico when my head feels like it'll explode. It's good to see you again and I saw you posted some kitted projects FTs that I need to watch, also. 🪡😊
Good to hear from you Wendy! I was sad to see that you stopped making flosstubes but I totally understand why. I've enjoyed seeing all your updates on Instagram! Take care!
@@luckychancestitcher I just have too much going on right now! I may restart in the future, but it'll be like starting all over again. 😬 In the meantime, I'll just enjoy yours and others. ❤️🪡
Hi Amanda. It’s great to see you posting videos again. On the advent piece, I think the bear may have been wearing green lederhosen. Perhaps he was supposed to be dressed?
I've been thinking about trying cxc floss but was like aaaa... It's cheap so how good could it be! But listening to you and I trust your opinion I'm going to try it. The tangling and knotting is really pushing me over the edge with dmc. Better coverage is a bonus. Sending for some tonight. Thank you
Cxc arrived. Bought the whole 447 skeins!! I've started sorting it but I couldn't wait to try it. Thought I would just substitute it for 1 of the colors in a project I'm working on. It is wonderful! All of your praise is justified. It's going to be difficult to use dmc in the future. Thank you Heather
My friend, a non stitcher, gave me a kit. I didn’t tell her it is a copied kit from a retired dimension kit of Jesus in the garden with a lamb. So, yes I will stitch it so I can show her progress.
So frustrating to look for designs and get dubious origin charts or kits. I bought 1 kit on ebay which the listing seemed ok, the package on the outside looked ok, the floss looked about right, but the fabric was miles too small and the chart looked like a bad photocopy. It was to be a gift for an expectant mom and I was given 2 months notice before the due date so finding another chart wasn't do-able. So I swapped fabric and did it, but I'm 90% sure it wasn't a legal kit. I don't do etsy unless I know its a legit designer (ok, I've only got 1 etsy chart, I've got enough charts backlogged as it is lol). But some etsy sellers do look really suspicious. Of course all the designs one really wants are the suspicious ones so no purchasing allowed 😞. For your Santa, I'd take out the blue background and stitch on a hand dyed. It's a fine background, but just plain enough that it's not absolutely necessary to stitch it. Save the fake kit floss to do ornaments, it won't be enough or possibly the right colors for the HAED.
Your Mira’s are beautiful and I am just in love with all the Christmas pieces! I have not seen that dimensions kit yet but am now on the hunt 😍. Happy stitching!

Oh wow, Ive never bought patterns on Instagram. Do you kmow who the designer was?

Soak your fabric, it will remove some of the sizing. Just a tiny bit of free and clear.
