I had recently started working at thompson's and they showed me what 2 do so if they win something (now this is at thompson's so idk if it is the same everywhere) they can get cash or use the money 4 something like more scratch offs or what they're buying but basically u scan their winning card then if they want cash u would ring it up as a pay out and give them cash but if they want 2 use it 2 buy say more scratch offs u ring up the cards then when u put in the amount they paid on the register (if they have 2 pay the same amount that they won u just put the amount in and they don't pay anything but if the amount they owe 4 the cards is more u subtract the amount that they won from what they owe for the cards/items/etc...and then they pay that hope that helps a little bit it's hard 2 explain in words but u pay them or let them use what they win 4 stuff
