We are heading South during the Christmas period and are doing some online research. We have just found your posts. Incredibly practical and informative. Keep up the good work.

Lake Ruataniwha Freedom Camp is a good one - it's actually better than the Lake Ruataniwha Holiday Park in my opinion. I'll make a video about the holiday park in the future so people can choose for themselves, but the freedom camp is a short distance away and I preferred it.

Nice spot..might be tempted to try it my self , would be a good staging point before Mt cook...ps your one of the few people that I've heard of who know the color comes from " glacier filings" ..one for you... the reason that plants grow so we'll after a monsoon is because of the nitrogen infused rain water coursed by lightning...but you probably knew that.💕🇳🇿

I love the sparkling turquoise colour from the glacial silt. Lake Ruataniwha is a great freedom camp, but the lack of trees available in summertime might make it a bit too hot. It's great if you're arriving in the afternoon and leaving in the morning, before the sun gets too hot. Otago and South Canterbury are so hot and dry in summer.
I'm working outside with the cherries this summer.
