Desert-Spec Diesel Porsche Cayenne Build is a Capable Off-Roader

- The second gen Cayenne is engineered to the gills, like all Porsche products. Unfortunately by nature, they’re mostly just used to crawl malls and soccer practice. But Joey Seeley of Emotion Engineering knew exactly what these Cayennes are capable of - and wanted to see his vision of an overland version of one. Joey and Larry venture out into some Cali desert to put this thing to the test, and change some minds about luxurious overlanding.

Have a friend who his brother put some offroads tire on his Cayenne whenever we go camping, but this is on a whole other level. I gotta show him this now.
That has to be the quietest car that Larry's reviewed yet! I dig it though. Plus diesel so auto 10 outa 10
had the pleasure to drive on of those at the factory in Leipzig germany the guy made us go through mud bog up to the doors in water , as well as some very steep incline stuff , their testing grounds are on an old army base
also got to rip a cayenne turbo for 12 laps around the paved track
there was lots of schnitzel eating and hash smoking 2005 as well as high speed runs to Amsterdam and france , then returned it to the factory for shipping to the us
a great experience that Porsche offers
I like how subtle it is, practical and modified enough to be more capable than stock.
Braid wheels are amazing, I have a set of Fullrace Flow Formed on one of my projects.
Tough and race spec, very underrated wheel.
Easily one of my favorite rigs on instagram. I get tagged in your posts a lot because I have a 15' Cayenne Diesel and I actually have Braid Beadlock wheels on my Civic Wagon. So your Cayenne is like a mix of two of my vehicles! The 958 is such a great platform and the diesel puts it so far above everyone else.
The Fast Lane Car has done some videos on them off road pretty good. Love these videos!
Great feature! Nice to see a Cayenne built for this purpose and have the owner tell us how it was done.
Such a sick build! Great balance between everything.
I literally was in line for the bank today with this guy. Small F****** World
I love how Larry can always find chances to randomly mention the cars he owns
This is really interesting! I've been working on some designs for a rally car I wanted to build from a Cayenne turbo, and this dude has already done it only without the turbo, more sensible, I just wanted a toy. Really cool to see.
I have seen a few of these over the years set up as mild 'expo' style rigs on the Expeditionportal fourm, think its great more people are realizing how capable these Cayennes can be. Daily/Tow/Overlander-check!
amazing content like always may god bless your souls, keep up the great work when my son comes of age he will love all your content, blessings friends may the world evolve and love more then ever
I bought a diesel cayenne for all the same reasons. I don't know if I'll go this far with it but I'm already taking it off road with the 20s that are one it. It's incredible on Forest service roads and hours on the interstate.
wow that's the cayenne build i have been waiting for! loved the idea and the original rally cayenne transsyberia and have been eyeing a diesel or manual used cayenne for something like this but as i don't think i can afford to fix one yet i have a subaru. Trying to drift it, really makes me miss my older cars. All new ones have similar computers on snow and ice or dirt I want to slide but it's just not as fun, you got to really work it. XD for the ''safety tho''
I’ve seen Porsche’s at the goodwood festival of speed on a private course with jumps , ive seen how capable they are . They worked all day for passenger rides . Proper .
I love seeing by Cayennes off road! Mine will remain stock, but I’d like another one for trails🙂
Took my bro inlaws cayenne diesel 145mph on the autobahn. I love it.
If I had the money I would build one. This looks crazy
I have a similar build on my Cayenne only mine is a proper manual : )
I'm running a 265/65/18
Just perfect 👍
Sick
let's Hope it 'TAKES OFF'!!?? Great 'Rally-Overlander Vehilcle'!! I like your future idea...with the roof top Pop UP TENT!!! GetR DONE Sir!!
This is the kinda sport I want in suv 👍
I bought my mom a 958 Diesel and I'm so excited to trick it out like this and borrow it
Badass
Larry hops in and rips the crap out of it!!! The guy was kinda shook
Braids FTW!
I love Porsche but hate the cayenne but this changed my mind about it
Awesome build great truck, interesting to me the lift is on a non air suspension truck, can the air suspension be lifted?
Ive been wanting to do a project like this for a while. Maybe after I finish my Pajero Evo
Wow you have my dream car
“Do you think this will slide”? Larry is the most subtle scumbag on Hoonigan!
Like squad needs to step it up !
Gen 1 cayenne S or turbo built into an exo tube chassis car with long travel under 3k lbs awd could be an epic rally car. The brakes are massive and could stop a large diameter tire. The differentials can be locked from the factory with the off-road tech pack. If built with 15”+ of travel it could be a solid dedicated hill climb/rally car. The gts transmissions are hard to find, but would be the icing on a spicy cayenne rally build. I would rally the sh!t out of a rally prepped awd long travel Cayenne.
imo, I'd prefer a landcruiser. Im glad to see porsches getting off the tarmac though!
Did this model not come with air suspension..would love to see more pics of the underbody protection
damn.. from inside so freakin silent, wooowwww
Did larry just call the Landcruiser a mall crawler? 😑
I wonder how it would look with an Australian 5 post bullbar ?
Where can I find those kw suspensions? It doesn’t seem like it’s the ones listed on their website. Thanks!
Problem is no one ordered them with the off road packages.
does that one have all the lockers from factory build sheet?
5:33 - Interesting fact!
LC200 mall crawler 😂
That's the quietest offroad vehicle I've ever heard.
Reminds me of the Cayenne that the twins drove in the new Better Call Saul season...
No mini winch?
Was Joey once part of bbi? - nvm just saw the pikes peak lol
It may be the only Porsche Cayenne to go off-roading
Certainly for the newer ones. I feel like I have seen some old ones send it.
My buddy has a built Porsche Cayenne, its pretty rad.
Alot of guys in Dubai use them in the dunes
@@loqmanes6114 Yep, I'm in Dubai also and have even recently taken my Cayenne to the desert in the Dunes at Qudra. Theyr'e pretty solid to be honest. I mainly drive my Prerunner Rado though
@@beekman306 yeah those things are cheap enough rn that there's definitely someone who's got one as an off-road beater
Man you forgot to give us that straight piped turbodiesel V6 engine note!
KW also makes Ford Raptor suspension ;)
How much budget i need approx for building , after buy the car?
Rear tore rack! Where do I buy of those?
Superbe préparation mais difficile à préparerben Europe
Rich boy bug out vehicle ;)
any car can overland if you are brave enough
Would love to see this done to a Macan or a Cayenne Hybrid....
Or Panamera...
What is the intro song title?
which sunglasses does this dude wear?
Really brave project! This 0.01% owner who buy SUV for using like they should.
I saw Ford ecosport!
Porsche Macan Dakar is dope... heavy trucks bad
👍🏻🔰
You can’t outengineer stupid is what Larry said haha
Girls are cool too
From I heard Camo carbon fiber I knew this car is well over budget.
Doubt it has 4 low
People have asked about the wheels so here you go braidusa.com/collections/off-road/products/winrace-t-wheels-2020?variant=31895498457178
keduax
This thing is...#strange to me!
Nice Subaru Outback....
2nd comment 10th view aaayyyee
Holly crap is a pagan believe
As someone who is past middle age I need an SUV and the question is how deep in my pockets am I going to have to grab to get me one of those bad boys, I live in Texas :-)
The saying with Porsche is that you shouldn't buy one unless you can afford at least two. Obviously I have no idea how your finances are looking but anything Porsche is going to get expensive REAL QUICK. Sure you don't want a Raptor? Already off road built and way more Bald Eagles 🤔 #Merica
More like dessert spec, am I right guys!?! anyone?
"my mantra - not so much the instagram build but the functional builds"
::: builds an off-roader with no transfer case or lockers :::
Maybe he's not done yet? I'm sure he will be upgrading those parts in the future.
@@freethinkingamerican80 possibly sure, but for now it's an instagram build through and through. main reason i didn't get a cayenne diesel to build an overlander is because porsche neutered the 4wd system in pursuit of MPG
No need
* I have too much money Off-Roader *
You can actually go taller if you do a subframe drop...and Eurowise makes a LOT of offroad stuff for the Cayenne. "Nobody makes anything" is such BS.
Its weird how the first gen Cayennes are so much uglier than the second gen, except when they're both done up in desert spec. Something about this just doesn't look right
I don't like snorkels.
There is a video of Transsyberia Cayennes flipping and crashing into a million pieces.. not the best Rallye car to go fast in
So I've looked at Cheyenne' and you can get a good condition one for under $10,000 soooo I'll give him $8500 for that one
$9000 is my top dollar
*Cayenne
Why? When you can buy a Jeep Xj? Shit will take this shit out bone stock.
Ugly AF
Ugly get a real off-roading vehicle
L
thats just a waste of effort and money
Capable of what?? Testarossa would manage off road better then any made for Gays Porsche...
The fact that you capitalized Gays makes your comment extra FABULOUS!
